i have a romanian ak 47 parts kit. i dont know where the full auto sear goes. can you tell or show me where i need to drill the hole on a semi auto only receiver?
@PyroDragonOfDeath You can get a jig for about $30 that will locate the hole perfectly.Google AK full auto drilling jig or similar. In the US it is illegal to drill the hole without the proper FFL, SOT, ATF approval and demo letter if applicable. The auto sear pin hole alone makes the receiver a machinegun even with no further conversion steps taken.
The first full auto part is the "automatic sear." This automatic sear operates quite differently from the auto sear in an M16. The AK automatic sear is located in front of the hammer and latches into a shoulder on front side of hammer. The automatic sear also functions as a secondary sear or safety sear because it is always in use in both the semi auto and full auto modes. Full auto is achieved just by blocking the disconnector from moving into position to catch the hammer hook.
All of you idiots who think a full auto anything is illegal you are wrong. Full auto and suppressed weapons are completely legal for civillian use here in the us. Its just a matter of having a FFL. Which isn't hard to do at all. Matter of 1000 bucks and some atf paperwork. I hate it when people talk about the law. Class III FFL can sell and or transfer these weapons and devices and Class VII can manufacture (although that is another cluster$%^^).

The bolt needs to be in full battery with the barrel before the hammer is released.

I haven't seen a registered and transferable pre-86 full auto on the market for $1000 for quite some time.
