this crash reminds me so much of the 1999 daytona 500 big one. happend in the exact same place on the track and caused by almost identical scenario, three wide and the middle car ends up on the aprin.
yeah, i know that, im talking about the 500. The announcer sed, "for half a dozen teams, this changes everything." newman was involved, and he won the 500!
Jeff, you're such a liar. "It's going to be tough coming from 22nd". Oh please Jeff, we all know you're going to be up their fighting for the lead probably in less than 10 laps. Go 24!
Lot of the supposed racing fans out there - including some of the assholes on this post - ought to be a'fuckin'shamed of themselves for wishing for and cheering when somebody gets involved in a crash; in this case at over 190 mph. How 'bout a relative/close friend of yours got killed in a car crash and somebody gets excited about it because your relative/friend cut them off? Think about that next time you start to cheer after somebody slams the wall. Fuckin' pricks...
they walked away right? i aint wishin that they get hurt, just that their cars get hurt. Engine failure, crash, whatever, as long as jimmies out im happy.
That's not my point. My point is in the stands and on TV I hear alot of cheering when a driver they don't care for or just love to hate gets involved in an accident BEFORE they get out of the car. It's just disrespectful...
im sure when dale earnhardt wrecked in 2001 people cheered, of course when it came oput he died im sure MOST were silenced. Jimmie walked away. Thats a good thing, cuz if he wasnt there id have noone to root against!
Yeah, when they found out he was dead they felt like shit...a little late to take it back though. This is coming from somebody who takes the same risks that Jr. and Gordon take everyweek, I just get paid a hell of a lot less. I take the situation a whole lot more seriously after my friend was killed in a crash this past year when he got tangled up in the lead and hit the wall right in front of me.
Yep, and I saw people on pit road showing a few smiles and cheers before Jimmy got out of his car and went haywire on the race track calling for help. I took that kind of stuff seriously before Johnny's crash, but it's at a whole other level now.
I wasn't there for it but I loosely follow the WMT. I never got to witness John race fully but I've seen some of the moves he's made through movies and such and hearing stories. Sounded like a hell of a driver and one heck of a man. That was such a loss. I can understand the cheering, it was a battle for the lead gone wrong. I still don't cheer at serious wrecks, even if I do hate the person. I cheer after they get out of the car! lol
He was a phenomenal driver - one of those guys who could get into anything and just go. Not to mention a class act and a great personality at and away from the race track.
That's the same way I feel about Tony Stewart. I hate him, but not so much that I want to see him die. Nobody, no matter how wreckless, evil, or gay they are deserves to die.
everyones going "yay the hendrick cars wrecked! woohoo!" well everyone will be booing their asses off when it's all said and done when they see that 24 flamed Dupont Chevrolet in victory lane with Jr. and Biffle takin a ride on a rollback
You moron! Earnhardt is a Hendrick driver. By the way any damage to the Hendrick cars sets the whole organization back including Jr. Just get used to Jimmie and Jeff being teamates of your hero and enjoy the ride as the #3 best driver on the team.
By the way I hear Jr. is changing his number to 888 as this is the closest he will ever be to 24.
i hope it continues all season long. i hope they destroy more cars when it counts. Not so much the 24, the 48. i want the 48 wrecked everytime it hits the track.

You guys! This is all Clint Bowyer's fault!
nascarfanatic24 4 years ago
Bowyer didn't even drift up the track, so not his fault. Someone just failed to mention to Newman that Clint was there. Wasn't even Ryan's fault.
It happens.
nelly712 4 years ago
Yeah, I know. I was just teasing around. I knew this was all racing. You know though, this new car is a lot sturdier. It can take more hits.

But the pack would have been double in size so the wreck woul have been bigger. Probably glad that todays shootout was thrown open a bit.
