Back in the 80' i worked building pipelines across Australia - I used go out early and watch the great red land come to life as the sun rose - I couldn't explain the noise it made as there was nothing physical I could compare it to. It was a mystical experience. Geoffrey just added the soundtrack to my experience - thanks brother.
Gurrumul's latest CD is being sent to Scotland 5 fold, I know people are going to fall in love with him! This is Hymn-like, just beautifull, I play Gurrumul to settle my 4 and 5 year old kids.
This is a truly great song, even if one does not understand the words. The vibes are so powerful and the pictures do the rest A great and important artist!
erszebet what do you do in your country for the indigenous people, how do you make a difference for them. we all have comments, but talk is cheap, whats the actions that make a difference, I make sure to share this music and the little I know of the culture to all that I have contact with, and spread the heartache with love of these and my own culture, we cant undo the past how do we move forward???
Let others know and you have taken a step in the right direction. We cannot change what was done however sad it was. We are a different breed to that and able to be equal.
@mitchgful since I do not know you I will say this to you, I have lived for 25 years in contact with indigenous people and have found tribal people to be wonderful. their concept of life from what I have experienced is one of Sharing and respect. A little story, I needed help on a building site and hired an aboriginal fellow that was sent by the government department. The day he started his whole clan appeared and the fellows took turns working for me while the others sat under a tree.
@ erszebet you are not guilty for the genocide, but as an australien you are responsible for the living condition of the indigenous australians now.People should learn form history try to make it better and make amends for the wrongs your ancestors have done.
@butterbluemchen1961 Thank you for your humility, and for giving us another chance. May we all live on in an equal peace, we have much to learn from you and your brothas and sistas. You touch my heart and soul, every time we are given this chance.....
I just heard the piano version, much better, this is great too. The depth of simplicity signifies the Aboriginal culture, more like nature than westen greed etc bullshit, far more intelligent and attuned in the right ways.
Ancient Land~Indigenous culture dating back to the beginning of time~ Majestic 'Dreamtime" beliefs~Music that evokes a peace within- Really beautiful peoples <3 Thanks for sharing <3
All of you people making comments regarding politics , kindly remove them , you should be ashamed to bring that and sit it alongside this masterpiece of magic. This is not the place for it ,however right ,wrong or indifferent the view. You are simply disrespecting the voice that you came to this page to listen to. So pull up and out ,and don’t even think of replying to my comment with anger or cheap shots you will only lower yourself more. You know who you are ! Everyone else ~ LOVE is all we have
what a beautiful angel that has bestowed the world with such a special lilting voice, he speaks all languages, love love love... I feel blessed that i am alive to hear such gorgeousness.. beautific <3 ;)
gurrumul you make me very proud to be Australian..... Your voice, and music is way beyond brilliant...I love listening to your beautiful voice and music.......Thank you...you are an inspiration to us all
Magic, unbelievable!! Absolutely magnificent!! So loved the video. I had the honour of living within several Indigenous Communities too and this reflects their beautiful nature.
@erszebet I suggest you study the history of Australia before you paint us all with the same brush. The British destroyed the Indigenous culture. I am Australian, but most definitely not guilty of the genocide.
@saklaus Australian colonies throughout Australia gained limited independence from British parliament in 1850 and by 1880's the majority of the countries inhabitants had been born in Australia. Australia became a Federation in 1900. Australian Institutions passed the laws which effected the genocide of Aboriginal culture in this country, not British parliament. Genocide continues today with NT intervention & policies of assimilation & discrimination. Yes Australians are guilty of genocide.
@RollerGirlMeli You are dead right unfortunately and thankyou for pointing out the facts! moreover sakluas admits the british tried to destroy us and our culture so who is he then? another dumb australian fool who lets the government run right over the top of him while he has opinions about things that will not affect him? hahaha what a ridiculous intelligence level!!
@saklaus yes you may not be guilty of it directly but need I ask people like you yet again! would it be OK for my ancestors to come to your country murder most of your people with superior weapons, kick you off your lands jam you into a small mission and oppress you for a very long time even to this day? You and arrogant people like you are guilty of not helping the original people that you have built a wealthy nation out of, some of this was derived from our slave labour!
@bushengineer1 I'm sure most 'white' Australians don't agree with the actions of our ancestors, nor those of our current government. So, what would YOU like to see happen in order to improve the lives of indigenous Australians? It's a pure coincidence that I'm an Anglo-Celtic Australian and I feel like I'm powerless to actually do anything to help. So what? Should I continually blame myself for what my ancestors did 200 years ago? Honestly, I'd like to know how I can help!
@toocaran1 I would like to see my people be able to help themselves! perhaps we can fight the government together each demanding our needs be met, afterall I thought this was supposed to be a democracy? The only problem is it doesn't feel like it to me and it looks like they leave other australians out too while they get richer and we all have to work harder and for what hey? I'm half white too so race is not my problem but people in high places making decisions for us is my greatest worry.
@mikeyfd1988 Sure We could all learn how to propogate alcoholism, drug taking, domestic violence, poor hygiene and health standards, no repsect for laws or others culture. yes this guy sings great but his peoples problems are mostly to do twith themseleves not pulling their fingers out having a go and blamming eveybody else for thier own inactions for their problems
@mikeyfd1988 Thanks Mikey we still have some of our culture left which includes collecting and hunting bush foods and there is always a good percentage of us that don't drink or smoke at all.

I agree, this is what you call inspirational and precious. THIS is what music is and should be, this is talent.
I am a young australian woman born to croatian parents and my mauri friend showed me this gentleman.
This beautiful spirit can teach us all alot and is a true icon.
I was raised around many aboriginal people from 4 years of age and they are beautiful people.
This man is amazing.

Geoffrey has a beautiful voice, who sings because of the love he has for his family and this country.
I love my family and this country just as much, but it sounds better when Geoffrey sings about it :)

Two scrub fowl crying out, looking for Guwalilŋa
the calls like women crying, looking for Murrurrŋawu
the cries returning his mind to the jungles at Mutjmutjŋa
oh place Guwalilŋa, Warraḏika, Yumayŋa, m..m
Oh the old man cries, from this drink
oh dad Kampa-Djuŋadjuŋa, home Mayaŋ-ŋaraka bright in his mind
oh my two mums, beloved mums, hold Ruypu Milinditj
oh my two mums, beloved mums, cry for the sacred spring Burarrapu
oh the place Guwalilŋa. Warraḏika, Yumayŋa, m..m
