Was this the hoax of the flares tied to some contraption? It looks the same. Pretty cool either way. (and no, I'm not one of those people that thinks we're the only living things in the universe, but there was an awesome hoax with flares on a weather ballon and stand that looked just like this).

This stuff is interesting though. I saw something odd once, but not like this. It was in an almost perfect wide V shape, made no sounds, and the wings sorta...I want to say flapped, but it was slower like it was swimming, and it emmitted it's own whiteish-green glow only from the edges, saw nothing inbetween but black. Was really odd.

@JFguitar22 So it was for sure not a government cover up of new military aircrafts? Guess we couldn't know either way. Eh, I think it'd be dumb of us to think we're the only planet with living organisms in the universe, but I doubt there's any slimey ET's. Could be an advanced race of curious beings. I rather think the things we see could be extraterestrial(SP?), but more probably military testing they don't want out to the public yet. That seems most probable with this video that so many saw.

@sylverclaws in my opinion ...i think there are other lifes a lot more advanced than us... imagine that organisms have developed a hundreds bilions years before us somewhere in the firmament ..it could be very real...i think that we have a lot to learn about physics and i think that intelligent beings come here. Flares that maintain position for 5+ mins? I don't think so.

It's funny how alternative explanations for ufo sightings can sometimes be more absurd than actual ufo sightings, such as 'balloons' which funnily enough fly faster than jet planes.

We can't say what these sightings are but we can say what they aren't.

As the videographer mentions, the lights are over an airport, so there's no mystery. But I must say, it's a pretty cool video. And he must be commended for keeping ground objects in the shot so we can compare the known and the unknown. Too many people zoom in on the lights (and distort them), chopping out the context completely, and then they can claim whatever BS they want. But this here was a very good video.

Atypical movement of Chinese lanterns - they never alter shape/pattern, they descend and go out. The helicopter leaves after seeing they were lanterns. I believe in ufos but these are identified falling objects

Dude I have been in the military for several years as well and have seen flares at night and not see the smoke. It is night time and not a great recording. I am not saying they are not UFO's because I have seen other fotage of these same lights so I think they are.

It does not mean that this lights are ET:s but one thing is 100%...Those are NOT flares. I have been in the military myself so i know. There should be smoke visible. I can't see any....? Could be helicopters hovering but for what reason??? Strange endeed. Great video

What I saw on tuesday night, Dec. 15, 2009, are most likely flares. These aren't flares or fed ex lights. The fed ex pilots should already know where to go.

there is another video on youtube that explains what this is, its fedex flights coming into memphis. the reason one turns and starts to blink is it reached the next marker in its approach, the "helicopters" near the ground on the right are other flights landing, there are 3 horiszontal runways in memphis, check out memphis ant hill, it shows how many fedex flights are there in one day

This was 11 days before the Air France plane got lost. Day or two after that the meduse crop circle appears in Britain, and the white light phenomena at the sea. Something's going on.

Tell us all you can about this phenomena as you saw it! How big were the lights, did it feel like they were crafts, was there sound coming from them?

wow you seen some shit go down! when the third light started to leave there was flashing behind it right? the one heading screen right @ 3:46 it has strobes which means its 99% civi maybe a military contractor (dyncorp aviation does a lot of weird stuff) possibly a new kind of hovering uav that can stabilize in higher altitudes unlike other's probably testing the sound it makes aswell cause it's gotta be quiet when its in Iraq.

With all due respect, when you're just a regular person with a regular camera and you happen to catch something - the image will be shitty. Pointing a handheld camera at something far in the distance is an incredibly difficult task - any trigonometry class will help you understand that. A tripod would have been great, but these people obviously weren't sitting there their whole lives waiting for this exact moment.
