  • LOL!! I actually found myself singing along...lalalalala!

  • great!!!!!!!!

  • I could listen to yall all day! I love the way you throw Hungarian Dance number 5 in there-very cool!

  • Very entertaining. Thank you for that wonderful music and that inspiring guitar solo.

  • You guys are amazing. That guitar solo blew my freakin mind. One Love

  • @daven372 That's an awesome solo, all right. Not many can play it.

  • You have a lovely daughter there, pretty and a musician

    Respect

  • Lovin' this a lot!!! Thanks so much!!

  • your a funny old bird LOL I enjoy you guys thanks Rory

  • lol that dude!! funny... "get ready for mah solo" lol XD awesome

  • Steps Of Russia?? SWEET!! Put it all in there, didnt you?

  • do u think someone with 2 and a half months of experience could play this? i practice a lot and am taking lessons. by the time of my first recital, i'll have been playing that long. i want something fun to play. any suggestions if u think this is too hard?

  • @HeIsLegend14 It's hard to say. Emily started playing when she was 8, but she has never had a lesson. We just kind of figured it out. As far as beginning fiddle tunes go, "Ragtime Annie" or maybe "Liza Jane" might be easier.

  • @mrgreer51 i've mastered "ragtime annie" and "liza jane." i'm finally learning "down yonder." my teacher said she thinks i can do it well enough for the recital. :) i let her watch this video, and she loves ur arrangement.

  • @HeIsLegend14 I'm glad to see that you are sticking with it. Liberty is also a good tune to know. If you want to learn double stops, try Bonaparte's Retreat.

  • hahaha nice solo :P

  • All my life I've been looking for a good guitar solo, now I;ve found it! Maybe in another few years I'll be able to play it. Should I just try the vocals first?

    Gruss

    HaegarCH

  • Your welcome music lover

  • ha ha bien joué cheers from france j'aime les oiseaux derrière (love the birds behind) et votre sourire (and your smile too) love your Tshirt (french colors) et voila ! some fresh air...your guitar solo is...amazing !!!

  • @johnmadox Hahaha! It took years of study and practice to perfect that solo on the guitar.

  • THAT WAS CUTE!

  • From the land of fiddle players, Cape Breton Nova Scotia. Grand altogether!! Grand indeed!!

  • wonderful solo lol

  • yonder!

  • Listening to this tune I get the idea Daffy Duck and the Wascally Wabbit otta be running around

  • I say what a dish! and I'm not talking about he guitar player:)

  • ha- ive watched all your vids, you guys are fun. im wondering when i can get some lessons

  • Ya'll are a hoot! I didn't realize I had been doing a guitar solo all these years. lol. However, I usually play it on the fiddle or mandolin. Doctg100 mentioned Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers...I thought I was the only person that ever heard of them. lol.

  • I used to hear the Skillet Lickers on the Opry on 650 WSM.

  • wow paps that was one hell of a solo.

  • You guys rule!

  • Great family! Loved the video! Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers move over! They didn't have that lala part did they?

  • You're solo is EPIC!

  • I love to watch Emily singing lalala, it is so lovely and funny.

  • I discovered this so very likeable family only a few days ago and now i am a big fan forever! i looking forward on much more new music interpretations from Mr. Greers family.

I love the "la la la" in this melody so much!

  • I just recognized emily never had a violin lesson, she is playing right instinctly - wow this is so unbelievable- what a natural talent! i know they do the music just for pleasure but when i imagine what a violin star emily could have been if her talent had been professionally forwarded... and then she also sings with a heavenly voice... and with the guitar she is also great... she is really the lovliest miracle i ever seen in my life...

  • HA HA HA HA!!!

That was great! That solo made the little hairs on the back of a$s..... I mean neck, stand straight up!!

    Good job nonetheless!!

  • I love the Solo. i want a cd, my pa does too. KEEP Doing SOLOS.

  • The solo rocked!

  • It is a very difficult solo. Don't try it at home.

  • I believe this was actually called "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans", but I like your veriation better and since you did change it, I guess you can call it what you want.

Real nice foot stomping music. Can't listen to it with out wanting to dance.

  • best solo ever

  • Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have tabs for it, so It'll just have to remain a secret.

  • Great Job!

  • my great great grandfather wrote this giddian tanner

  • They remind me of bands who played in the honky tonks in south Texas. This song was a favorite, usually on the piano.

  • Another great video. I would pay for a CD from them. They are both excellent!

  • woooaahh nice solo men... :P

  • Wow! Absolutely wonderful!

I was looking for Down Yonder and you all came up on the search engine. How cool is that? I was looking for the original artists name (I'm properly renaming all my midi files and looking for the original artists)

  • Hey musicians!

What an amazing pair! I have gotta say I feel really inspired to hear your music. And the best part is, of course, the solo!

    all the best

    vaughan

  • HEY! :D

  • you make me smile on a bad day

  • Still Like it.!!!

  • I thought I heard Doc Watson in there!?

  • hahah good work Phil you too Emily but you diden't have a kick ass solo 5* kids

  • Hello Music Numbers

will like you too play Maple Sugar sometime

    Thank you

  • Good Music Numbers

    lalalalala hi ha

  • i like it!! i love the song. you did really good. i've never heard that the whole way through with like the middle part and stuff.. and it was really cool. i do have my pet peve and that would be position. Emily's position is lacking a few things. First-- she needs to hold her violin up higher which it helps when and this is the second problem, having your wrist strait!!

but those are the only things, and other than that, it was GREAT!!!

  • You are right about Emily's form. Unfortunately, we learned everything by ear, and she never had a single lesson. She would just memorize the notes the way she heard it, then do whatever she could to make the song sound right. We had no idea about how to hold the bow or the wrist. Now it's too late to change. But we're just having fun, so it doesn't matter.

  • Huh, thats really cool. i would've never been able to do that by ear. thats awsome. You're right about the fun thing too. i didnt mean to be to critical or anything, like it was so important, its just a pet peve, and i always have to comment on it. :) You guys did great though!!

  • No offense taken. It's all good on this end.

  • I think the middle part is Braum's "Hungarian Dance..." kinda.

    Great solo Phil!

  • Yes, you are right. It is the best we could do with the "Hungarian Dance." Everything we do is "kinda."

  • Me too!

    Where is Emily's hat???

  • I can't get her to wear one. She only agreed to wear it one time, and that is because she had had a ski accident and had a concussion, so she was not in complete control of her faculties.

  • If it wasn't provincial it wouldn't be sincere.

  • Ah" a GETTAR, good vid though

  • Je vous aime.

  • Je suis très jolie (?)

  • Oui, tu es très jolie, et j'aime la musique Cajun :O)

  • love it, keep playing, please

    shalom Dave

  • when I imagine Heaven, people like this are your neighbor! Thanks for the great music!

  • Love the video and music.Take 5.

  • Who is Emily, the fiddler?

Very difficult to find this tune or to find a band that plays it. I remember it done honky-tonk style on the piano in the early '50s.

    Thanks!

  • It's a pretty common fiddle tune around here. Del Wood performed it many times on the piano on the Grand Ole Opry. Emily is my daughter. She is in college to be a 2nd or 3rd grade teacher. We're just doing this for fun.

  • I haven't heard that minor bit thrown in there before but it sounded quite nice. Keep up the good work!

  • That minor bit is actually not part of the song. I think it's called Hungarian Rhapsody. We just put it in there as a joke.

  • Unbelievable! Do you have the sheet music for that Guitar Solo. I'd love to learn that. You guys are GR8! Thanks for sharing

  • Hungarian Rhapsody, Cajun Style.

    Yeah!!!!!

  • Hey, where did Emily learn to play those musical instruments? ;-)

  • We just shut off the TV and figured out the fiddle. She has never had any lessons. I play guitar, banjo, and bass, and know the melody to many fiddle tunes.

  • nice solo!! lol..that was pretty cool. If u cant put some fun into then why do it u know??...hey at least u did hit the run in it! lol. She's doin really well on the fiddle. What kinda guitar ya playin? where ya'll from?

  • It's a 1968 Martin D-18 and we're from Missouri.

  • The guitar solo was great, but the vocal break really made it. Keep posting them, Phil!

    -jcr
