  • why they say this only happens to overweight kids..??

  • @pepadark incorrect

  • I just had this surgurey and it was the worst

  • This happened to me 1 year ago. Kind of the same story as me.

  • meh i had this 3 years ago.........wheel chair for 6 weeks and only physical activity for a year was walking........shitty thing is i feel it happening again with the pins

  • I got this i actually have to grt surgery tomorrow morning

  • im still in alot of pain... but im also a firefighter so i know that does not help. does anyone know if there is something i can do for the pain. i have stopped Firefighting activitys due to me being in college. Im on Alieve pain meds every day taking surgery strangth. and pain is over a 10 most days.

  • i have this....im a 18 year old girl....i was having pain for years...always seemed to be around the time of new shoes or something to that affect. my knee swelled they thought i had water on the knee. went to an orthopedic dr. i was told if i walked on my leg one more time i could lose the leg. my hip was that bad off. they put me on cruches and a week later i was having surgery. they took screw out 4 years later it was healing but not well. i now can flip my leg compleatly backwards.

  • Wow you all were extremely helpful to me, I was rather scared about this but after watching this I feel better and knowing that the lord has his hand on this things will be ok.

  • This is not common!! I'm female who had this happen when I was 12, and I had the most uncommon SCFE. The first is a growth plate that has slipped and causes knee pain and groin pain, this if caught can be pinned, usually by one pin. The 2nd, child doesn't complain and they fall and knock the ball all of the way out of the socket (1 in 5 million people - not common) This is what happened to me. Pain started again in 20's and had a total hip replacement at 38, wish replacement done sooner!!

  • so basically the same thing is happening to me

  • @ThePikpikcarrot me too.

  • i am freakin pissed. today was our first track meet and in the 100 m dash, my hip popped 3 times and i fell and rolled (over the finish line thankfully) i got first still, however i am off the track team for this year and for soccer, which our tournament is this week, i am also out for the rest. i am pissed as hell

  • does any body know or have experienced muscle pain after getting off the crutches

  • Luckily i am healthy active softball loving, football missin girl and doing well since then. Some people thought it was from football. It wasnt it was a SCFE. In about a couple days or weeks i dont really remeber it will be 1 year since the screw removal. I loved showing my "battle wounds" to all my friends. They all fought about you would push me in the wheel chair. It was not fun after a while because not being able to do ANYTHING for a while is very hard. Hope he is doing well.

  • I had the same exact procedure. I was on crutches for 3 months before the surgery, 9 months after the surgery. Mine was very bad. Apperently his wasn't as bad. It was very hard getting back to walking after 1 year. People would ask my mom if i was in an accident becuase i looked like i was sped becuase of how har dit was getting back to walking. Unfortunetly my bones not growth plates grew over the screw and i had to get it removed ASAP! That was about 4 months recovery.

  • im one of the few rare girls who got this. mine was extreme and my doctor messed up my 2nd and 3rd surgery. i had 7 surgeries all together and 5 of them were to correct the 2nd. im only 16 and i need a total hip replacement when im older...my new doctor says ill never have a normal hip again and cuz of this my whole life is ruined.

  • Hey I just got that surgery 3 weeks ago I have 12 more days till I can walk I have 40 to 60 % chance the outer hip will go

  • i had the same thing my doctor couldn't figure it out for a while, was yours stable or unstable. stable being able to walk on it or unstable being that you cant walk on it at all, and do you have 1 screw or multiple screw

  • (pt 2) surgery was a bigger one that would completely fix it but this would be a 11 month recovery..the risk of the smaller one was it was a high risk of re injury and would involve a complete hip replacement which means no sports ever again..i decided to take the big one which he had never preformed and has only been preformed in the us 16 times...i was on crutches for 5 months..but keep ur head up zach that is a very good hospitle they really know how to take care of you..thank you dr. ritzman

  • this exact thing happened to me..at first i thought it was my knee because that was the part that was hurting...but after 9 monthes of walking on it i finally met with dr. todd ritzman and he had told me what was going on and that i had to get same day surgery because it was slipped 91% off the hip. he gave me two surgery options one was he could go in and temperarly fix it and go in again in 6 months to completely fix it and that would be a 7 month recovery all together.. and the other other

  • what the hell i had this, it is not common at all 1 in 100,000 people get it.

  • Good job Zach!!
