As big as it is, it lacks the ancient-ness (or antiquity) of those other huge buddhas built in ancient times. Modern technology and equipment would have no problem building such colossal structures. But I'm still more awed by those impossible structures built in ancient time because there is that "wonder" factor how they can built such structures without the aid of cutting technology. Therein lends the mystery of ancient engineering to be discovered and marvelled.

Seems a little backwards to me. If you really wanted to promote love and kindness you would think the money and manpower would be used better elsewhere.
