  • hmmm.. I wonder why Microsoft hasn't come down on this like a sledge hammer ?.. wish windows would start that fast

  • @xadam2dudex Who are they going to sue? XD

  • @computerfreaq17 whoever is developing the software

  • this guy isnt very informed on this. Reactos is a recreation of the NT kernel, with a windows like interface. its alpha software, and it uses parts of wine for compatibility.

  • i did in vmwear wasnt the same, didnt run right no beating the real thing, i had 9.10 installed for awhile but i just uninstalled cuz i needed space , i need a TB HDD bad lol....but the only thing i didnt like is the logins they dont use GDM logins just learned how to make em 9.10 is different i think u can just add the pic but i didnt learn how there are vids on here that show it lol and i still dont know how to put a picture to the grub loader lol im sure lol i'll get it eventually, later bro

  • i wouldnt break ur windows disks cuz as soon as u dont have em' someone will want u to install a copy of it for em' .."can u install me a new windows mine is messed up, i'll pay u" .....lol i hear that alot,...and i tried finding 9.04 out ther but no luck on getting a working copy, i have the disk for 9.10 i just konw how to do things a lil easier on 9.04 lol

  • yeah ur probably right, ubuntu is the shit, i miss my ubuntu, i need a 9.04 live cd and cant seem to get a working one anymore lol, i removed my linux partition when i got windows 7 just so there wouldnt be any complications, no i can only find 9.10 and i dont like the fact that they dont use GDM for logins anymore. im picky lol

  • nevermind i didnt hear that it ran WINE lol

  • does it run EXE files, cuz thats all that matters with a windows alternative lol

  • yes, it does. I tried it

  • tried what the vmwear or 9.10 changing logons? or grub loader?

  • what about RAM limit usage, XP 32 bit has a 3.2 GB ram limit, does it have he same?

  • I'm part of the development team. 611 bugs know today!

  • nice restart

  • You should have shown it running some Windows applications.

  • what recorder do you use for your video's? it's really good quality

    please awnser

    -bye

  • 'Not for every day use' means that it is not fully compatibale? or that it crashes? i havent understood that part from their website...

  • Both really, it's still in alpha, so it's very buggy.

  • If this is windows based does it get BSOD?

  • Yes, it has a BSOD.

  • VMWare always make an OS run superfast. I had XP installed on my Linux PC with Vmware and XP boots in like 10 seconds. Crazy it never boots that fast. Sounds kwel, I will wait for beta or if better stable development.

  • the people or guy that made it mad his own kernel from the ground up

  • no, they made the kernel by themselves

  • yea what a pos of a os it doesnt act like windows at all.. i tried to give it 512,b of ram and that bitch crashed! so lame... and i hated vmware...

  • Thanks pcmedianet.

ReactOS looks great. When will it be fully functional?

  • a long time...

  • the programs are blank and there is no internet.

So its useless as for now

if anyone knows how to use the internet on it then let me know

  • they only use the wine libs

  • Most of them, but not only. Wine libs no provide usefull drivers compatibility.

  • Running in VMWare with overclocked makes it run even quicker. I'll try to post a video on XP that boots very quick in VMWare as well but I really doubt if its as fast.

  • You sir, stole the words right out of my mouth

  • cool!

  • Pretty cool! I would like to check this out =D

  • Wow this is great, I'm downloading now and the live cd is 27mb compressed! Great discovery guys!

  • just tried it and it is very alpha , i was so amazed at how small it is , I used the live cd inside a usb key and it worked even faster , it is only 100mb which was even more of a shock , thanks for the up , i will be watching this one ,

  • what kernel does it use ?

it looks good i might try it ,

  • ReactOS uses its own kernel, written from scratch by the developers. It's based of the NT kernel Microsoft uses and written in win32 ASM.
