How can you leave what you are? The Pumpkins made it big through Billy's amazing songwriting skills, which seem to have left him lately, but the SP are still synonymous with this man.

His guitar sound and Jimmy's distinctive drumming simply added to it and made them so great, but that's about it.

Okay i'll break it down. Billy composes most the music. Jimmy is A god on percussion and drums. With those two components you have the core of the pumpkins. With the exception of Adore it's always been Billy and Jimmy, and then two other members. Hell, even billy's solo album had him and jimmy playing together on it.

Billy wrote pretty much all bass parts as the songwriter...the drums: Jimmy owned all of it... in the end a good song is bigger than the musicians and its writer... Which is why certain songs live on in people without a connection to the artist and also why some good cover bands make huge money.

Darcy quit during Machina I because of drug problems, according to Billy. James didn't quit, but he didn't get back together when the band re-formed, and neither did Darcy. Only Jimmy is left from the former lineup. The new bassist is Ginger Reyes, the new guitarist is Jeff Schroeder, and the new keyboardist is Lisa Harriton (I may have that last one's surname wrong).
