Does not mean to disagree with you. However, this traffic is nothing comparing traffic in Vietnam. Trust me. I only saw two traffic lights in Hanoi for five days I was in the area and the interactions have traffic lights are most dangerous places because no one follows the lights.
But you have to understand why koreans act the way they do. It's because they had it really rough before, so now of course they are doing better, they will have a lot of pride, but sometimes too much pride leads to arrogance. I agree with you that it's ok to have pride and that too much pride is not always good, but there are many other people of different ethnicities that have a lot of pride as well. I live in the US and many people here are very nationalistic and believe that the US is the greatest country in the world. Korea is not the only country where there are some people who are highly nationalistic.

Its a good place to visit cos its so different to the west. But I live and work here NOT teaching, but working in a Taiwanese firm with the locals & get to experience it as a local. Working for free on weekends and being paid low wages, working2 hours overtime a day is rife. Its standard. I dont like exploitation or the people that take advantage os workers. But Taiwanese are too weak to stand up for them self and demand some workers rights. Not much to ask.

It really is the people that make the most difference between Taiwan and Korea. Taiwanese are just lovely.
Koreans are the only bunch I could just not manage to make friends with while living abroad in the past 8 years.

Its a good place to visit cos its so different to the west. But I live and work here NOT teaching, but working in a Taiwanese firm with the locals & get to experience it as a local. Working for free on weekends and being paid low wages, working2 hours overtime a day is rife. Its standard. I dont like exploitation or the people that take advantage os workers. But Taiwanese are too weak to stand up for them self and demand some workers rights. Not much to ask.

Anyone notice when the scooters end up in front of a red light, but are in the middle of the crossroad? They actually switch directions and turn left... is that a traffic rule?

Yes, this road is 信義 rd. in Taipei and they can turn left. There is a traffic light in the other side. That is the reason why they can turn left.

there is a designated area (with painted lines on the ground) for the scooters so that they don't need to wait for the light in the middle of a bunch of cars. The designated area is sort of in front of the red light but it's not in the middle of the crossroad.
They switch directions and turn left because sometimes there are left-turn lights which are separate from forward lights in order to make the traffic more efficient.

stupid ignorant foreigners in taiwan. Yes theres a lot of traffic.. but they are all pretty organized. do u see any of them even coming close to getting into an accident? come on dude, if u cant take this get the fuck outta taiwan. dont embarrase urselves.. never been to a prosperous city?
