I made this tonight. It was very good. We actually used turkey bacon. The bacon was more chewy than crunchy. I don't think that I'll do that again. Thanks Betty for the great recipe.
Hi Betty. I was wondering if you had a quick tip video where you show how you make your bacon? That would be a great tip! Would also love your home cleaning tips if you thought of expanding Bettyskitchen! :o) You have a beautiful home, and I love your videos.
@ancain61910 I have a video on Baked Bacon and Super Scrambled Eggs, where I explain my method of preparing bacon for the freezer, and then thawing it out for use at any time.
@Cbtplw We refrigerate or freeze the leftovers and have them later. We give our leftover desserts to our son-in-law to share with his co-workers at his job.
That looks wonderful, Betty. I'm going to try this recipe. I live on a disability pension, so budget friendly recipes are ALWAYS appreciated. Good life and good health.
@MonkeyManBlues Hi Matt! Thanks for your wonderful comment! I have a lot of recipes that economical; some great ones are Parmesan Chicken and Wild Rice, Swiss Cheese Chicken Casserole, White Bean Chicken Chili, Vegetable Chili, Ritz Cracker Chicken Nuggets, Roast Turkey Legs--just to name a few!
Betty, I really like the fact that your recipes comes in like a package: Main dish, side dish, dessert and a drink. It REALLY helps me a lot because sometimes, I don't even know what to pair a dish to lol. I love you!
Thank you sooo much! Beef Stroganoff is one of my favorite meals but being on a tight budget, high-end cuts of beef and fancy ingredients are out of the question, not to mention I have a 4-year-old to contend with. It looks quick and inexpensive.. perfect for me! I can't wait to make this for dinner tomorrow!
I had to use onion powder in place of the onion since my son doesn't like onions. Could you do a recipe for stroganoff using the hormel beef chunks? I bet that would be really good too, but I would prefer a recipe to go by. BTW...kids and hubby loved this!! Thanks Betty! =)
...and it's a childhood favorite!!! I'm making it tonight, trying to remember how my grandmother and mother made it. I've got the lipton onion soup mix (like they did), ground turkey (instead of beef), and sour cream. But I can't remember how much water. Lol
Hey Betty =) .. I use lots of ground turkey with some of the dishes that can have hamburger.. Everything always comes out with the same texture, and is so very healthy ...Thanks a lot , Betty ..Take care ..Kimberley
this looks sooooooo good! but im the only one in my family that likes onion...is there anything else I can substitute it for?...or can i just leave it out and it will still taste good?

I adore you and all your wonderful recipes.Thank You to Rick as well for all his wonderful help and time he's put into this to assure we all get a tad bit chunkier,,(giggels)... My son will not eat onions however we all know that adding onion makes everything yummier..What could I do to add flavoring without adding the onions?..Thank-You and big hugs to both of you.. <3,Angie
You could use onion powder; that would provide the taste and there would be no obvious chunks of onion. If it's the taste of onion that you need to omit, you might experiment with some other seasonings. This one would be good with some garlic powder. Parsley will go with just about anything, and sage is great for poultry dishes. You don't have to miss out on flavor just because you omit the onions! Thanks for your sweet comment and for your question!

@nkr1695
You could also use purple onions instead of yellow or white ones.
They're have a lot more nutrients; and taste a lot better as well.
Make sure you cook them until they're compely soft, before you serve them.
I used to hate onions are a kid, and this worked for me.
I still hate raw onions, but I love purple onions if they're soft (for example, if they've been grilled or fried).
