I am sure Santorum is a nice man just like Romney (I don't think Gingrich is nice at all) but both are too religious. If Santorum honestly thinks Jesus was born of a virgin, came back from the dead, that a woman was made from a rib etc. then he is unelectable. Candidates must have the honesty, integrity and the courage to admit when they do not have an answer. Governments must deal with facts, not faith. This man will have the US involved in religious wars with Islam. ALL religions are crazy!
If this man is miraculously elected president, I'm moving out of the country as quickly as possible. He is a fascist, and he's completely unapologetic about it. His craving for the authority to run the lives of others combined with the NDAA language makes him a danger to everyone.
@Shadowrose3820 Santorum is a big government phony, he wants to control every aspect of our lives including our bedrooms. Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, or Newt Gingrich 2012, fuck Santorum
WAY WOULD SOM 1 WHAT A RACIST PRESIDENT IN THE CHAIR SO IT WILL BE MORE RACIST PPL AND IT BAD ENOUGH THAT THESE REPUBLICAN PPL OUT HERE GOT THESE REBEL FLAG HANGIN EVERY WHERE AND HATIN PPL THAT ARE BLACK AND WHITE COUPLE LIKE US: MARTIN LUTHER KING DID NUT WHAT RACIST PPL NO MORE IT 2012 NUT RACIST DAYS PPL ! ! !
Santorum has the right to marry ONE consenting adult---I want the right to marry ONE consenting adult. If ever he is granted the right to marry FIVE consenting adults, the I want the right to marry FIVE consenting adults. It's EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW. I don't want anything different--I don't want anything more--BUT I WILL NOT STAND FOR ANYTHING LESS.....because I AM AN AMERICAN!!!
I can't stand this guy. I am so tired of Catholics picking on the LGBT community. I am gay myself and I almost committed suicide over the Catholic Church's teaching. I had to be put on antidepressants and mood stabilizers and I am still receiving counseling. I joined the chaste LGBT group, but it was so creepy and the priest was like shhhh don't tell nobody about this meeting, we don't like people to know and don't tell people ur gay, we call it "same-sex attraction". The church is bigoted!!
In this video, ricky employs the all-too-popular "slippery slope" fallacy. Essentially, we can't let X happen because if we do, then Y and Z must be guaranteed to happen. There's a reason this is called a logical fallacy. People had used this same argument against interracial marriage, against women voting, and hundreds of other proposed laws. Sorry rick, but based on America's track record I'd bet gay marriage is completely legal in the not-too-distant future.
As much as I don't really think government should get in the way of your love. It should be known that living in a country where our official religion is Catholic means that we should all have some respect of Catholic morality. In the bible it is clear that gay marriage is lust contradicting to love. The reason we have love is to create life. This cannot happen and gay marriage is based around pleasure and selfishness.
@ThePuffdady211 Since when are we told that we have to be catholic? last time i checked the constitution granted freedom of religion and does not a require me or anyone else in that matter to be catholic. And it would be Christianity as a whole the bud because catholism is a dying breed.
@ThePuffdady211 "living in a country where our official religion is Catholic". Wrong. United States has no official religion, and apparently you've never heard of a little thing called separation of chuch and state.
You, my friend, are a perfect example of the typical uneducated moron.
@ThePuffdady211 - What country are you from? Here in the US we have no official religion, we believe in freedom. And no, the Bible doesn't say anything about "gays", nor "abortion", so it sounds like you are part of an uneducated cult.
I'm actually loving this Santorum guy. These Republican bigots are at least entertaining! The more of this right wing crap he comes out with the more damage he is doing to his campaign. God help us all if he ever did become President, but I don't think he has a chance in hell. Maybe he has issues with his own sexuality. Anyone who is that homophobic, there must be something bothering them.
@keithmcneill55 my thoughts. on one hand, it's laughable how someone can be that stupid in this day and age, and then i remember that gay people are the victims of hate crime and suicide because they're forced into being straight.
but this video did make me feel warm inside when they started booing. funny how the majority of youth seems to be less bigoted than previous generations.
@keithmcneill55 oh and yes, he is probably a closet homosexual. whenever the issue of gay marriage is brought up, he often goes straight to the idea of gay sex between men, and rarely ever brings up women. he's been taught to hate himself by his parents and peers, which explains why he appears to lack a soul.
Chicken Little Santorum: The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!
The crowd: No, it's not......
Chicken Little Santorum: Oh yes! The sky is falling.....because polygamy and gay marriage combine to form a dangerous toxin that will destroy all of the unsaved heathen who don't agree with me........
@octopibingo - Then it's none of your business. If you don't like sucking dick, then don't. Are the flamers in parades twisting your arm? I bet you love the cock.
@octopibingo - Then it's none of your business. If you don't like sucking dick, then don't do it. Are the flamers in parades twisting your arm? I bet you love the cock.
So, a couple of people in the back booing as he is already leaving the stage equals: "Rick Santorum booed off stage in New Hampshire"? Prima facie absurd.
Regardless of ideology this audience member was clearly not rhetorically prepared for a serious engagement. She could have easily turned the discussion in her favor simply by rejecting an endorsement of polygamy. Yet she fell for the trap and lost intellectual credibility.
Win the argument - you can't do so with hyperbolic garbage.
You want to pretend that whatever relationship you have is a marriage, fine. I don't have the time to bother with your personal life.
But if you then demand the government sanction your lifestyle, then you have just begged me to become involved in your life. I don't want to, I'm busy, but you are demanding I do so.
@octopibingo "You want to pretend that whatever relationship you have is a marriage, fine."
Isn't that basically what everybody else does? Marriage is a religious institution sanctioned by a god who's existence you can't really validate......
You go to a court house and buy a Marriage license.....and then go to a church and have a pretend ceremony?
It's ironic that so many who are suddenly passionate about this issue could not have cared less five years ago, or even two. Or two months ago.
They are swayed--not by logical argument--but by whatever is the current cause celebre. And the fear of being thought "bigoted" if they actually think for themselves. Typical, and hypocritical, libs.
So sad that these college students do not know how to engage in a socratic style discussion. They are incapable of using logic to defend their position. It's all about emotion. So much for the idea of a university, where one can discuss topics with logic and learn from one another.
Why are these faggots booing him when Obama doesn't want GAY marriage either. There hasn't been a real Presidential contender that supported GAY marriage.
@bigperm53216 What does Obama have to do with this? It irritates me to no end when people sit there and assume that because someone dislikes one candidate, they must be in support of his opponent.
"My enemy's enemy is my friend" is not necessarily true, mate.
booed off stage as in finished and then booed at and clapped for at the same time....he made a good point and made people sit down and think what do they mean when they say marriage and then moreso, what is marriage? how do we define it? and why do we define it the way we do? good job rick santorum
@lynchian How dare you say that!? How dare you have the audacity, to call him a devious, manipulative, dishonest piece of excrement!? How dare you insult the very name of ''devious, manipulative, dishonest piece of excrement'' by lowering it to the same level below the depths of hell as Rick. You ruin the good name of ''devious, manipulative, dishonest piece of excrement'' by calling him something so much better than him. You must be a Rick Santorum supporter!
@Lateralus347 - The real problem is that government should have NO jurisdiction on marriage. It is for individuals to decide between themselves, and it's insulting and dehumanizing that a "licence" is required by government. We need to fix the tax code so that marriage is never concerned to make it fair though...
@yadidimeanmaine No. The real problem is when any miniscule minority demands government sanction of their aberrant behavior while at the same time demanding the people have no say in the matter.
just change the name of it. call it gay partnership and give it all the same benefits.
I don't see why gays HAVE to call it marriage. you're only offending Christians, so it would only be right just to change the name of it. the name of it shouldn't be that big an issue.
@ninja909 Because "gay partnership" doesn't give you the same benefits as a married couple. Seriously -- the already tried that with "civil unions" and insurance companies rejected them, saying people with "civil unions" don't get the same benefits or tax breaks as married couples. Hasn't this already been discussed?
"just change the name of it. call it gay partnership and give it all the same benefits."
no. anyone who has a problem with same sex couples getting regally recognized marriages is just gonna have to deal with it. tough shit, bigots, because the law is on the side of same sex couples (see the court decision) and the public opposition to marriage for same sex couples is shrinking fast. whether you like it or not, this is reality.
@RottingintheMidwest Absolutely. Tolerance is a necessary quality as we move forward, and anyone who stays intolerant can get fucked in the ass with a frozen-vomit-fuckstick as far as I am concerned.
@ninja909 i've got it. instead of getting married, they can be "butt-buddies." instead of "man" and "wife," they'll be "butt-buddies." they won't be "betrothed," they'll be "butt-buddies." instead of a "bride and groom," they'll be "butt-buddies." they'll be equal, but instead of being engaged, they'll be "butt-buddies," and everyone is happy.
Students showing their stupidity? What part about booing a man who hates the constitution and wants to turn this country into Iran is stupid? Because I'm just curious.
It's insurance companies and the like that don't want to pay for extra benefits etc that oppose gay marriage this just shows he's another corporate shill. They are whoring the church to their benefit to save more money.
"If I fell in love with a woman tomorrow, would I feel that it's okay to want to kiss and touch her? If I fell in love with her? Absolutely! Yes!" - Angelina Jolie
Actually yeah, if all parties involved are consenting adults, why shouldn't they marry as many people as they like? Who would it be harming? And don't give me that "it kills the institution of marriage" bullshit, people have been crying about that since Henry VIII.
@Lateralus347 henry Viii who killed a bunch of his wives...what is marriage for if anyone can get married to anyone and more than one person? doesn't it make marriage null and void if that's what it is in our society? it would be harming a lot of families for sure. what are people searching for when they want to marry tons of people?
@willberthepig Marriage isn't for anything. At this point in our history, it's purely symbolic (or you're marrying for the financial benefits). What business is it of yours, or mine, or anybody's, what people are "searching for" when they want to marry multiple partners? How does it legitimately effect you?
@Lateralus347 who are we? if marriage isn't for anything then why defend your stance on it. if it means nothing to you why are you speaking for those who it obviously means something to? it effects me because i'm trying to defend what marriage is actually for and means. look at the history of marriage as an institution. it's really old and spans across societies. that could help to see what it means. if you were to marry someone would it simply be for financial benefits?
@willberthepig Well, the idea of marrying for love is really a very new idea. Historically it's more important as an allocation of resources between families. And truthfully, I think we could do that today without getting ideas of religion and "love" intertwined. What does marriage mean to you? And you still haven't answered my question; what business is it of yours who other people want to marry?
@Lateralus347 where did i mention love? were locked in a battle of asking questions and not giving responses so I'll respond and then you respond to my question. My response is we live in a society where marriage and family are very important building blocks. if we define marriage as nothing really then we lose those blocks. it is our job as a society to define marriage. is it better that as a society we be one or that we be divided?
@willberthepig I see, and how do you feel about divorce? Doesn't that also kind of weaken the institution of marriage? Shouldn't that be made illegal too? It's true that marriage WAS an important building block for society, it's doubtful that our civilization would have made it this far without it. But there comes a time to put away the crutches.
@Lateralus347 ya divorce, especially how many divorces there are today in the us weakens the institution of marriage. there are some good cases for divorce though; such as cheating. you have to meet the problem where the front is though and right now the front seems to be on gay marriage. in your metaphor putting away the crutches would mean all couples would be heterosexual without the need for laws against homosexual couples.
Except....including gays in marriage doesn't define it as nothing....so, there should be no problem there.
Trying to link polygamy to gay marriage is just one of the many silly ploys that less intelligent people who can't really produce any rational reasoning to block gay marriage tend to utilize.
Gays are no more connected to polygamy than christians are connected to mormon polygamy.
@clubindiana4 i was quoting the audience and santorum in this video, they say it becomes "whatever", which ultimately dissolves down to nothing. the ploy is to get people to say why they believe what they do instead of just attacking someone else's beliefs. it wasn't a link statement. there you have it. i hope you watched the video.
@octopibingo And if you had held elections in every southern state 50 years ago on the question of whether black people should be allowed to marry whites, every one of those states would have voted overwhelmingly not to allow interracial marriage. Likewise with integration of public schools, and with the rest of the Jim Crow legislation. This is why basic human rights -- and let's be clear, equal treatment under the law IS a basic human right -- shouldn't be subjected to the popular vote.
@TheDukeljk Actually it is, dumbfuck. Equality under the law is about as basic a civil rights issue as it gets. You'd know this if you didn't have your head inserted firmly between your own asscheeks.
@clubindiana4 i see that they are related in that they are both about marriage. as political issues they are separate yes. santorom brings up polygamy to get the audience to think about how they to are defining marriage as he is defining it as between a man and woman. did you understand what he was trying to do?
@clubindiana4 yes, because they didn't want to understand his point. why is it silly that marriage is for a man and a woman and not two of the same sex?
i think gays should be allowed to marry because it's their business, but santorum does have a point here. He finds it morally wrong for two men to get married. I do not. But some people do find poligamy immoral but not gay marriage. There isnt really a distinction between the two in a moral sense so it'd be hypocritical to call one of them immoral and not the other. So Santorum is consistent on this point and some others are not. Fact remains of course that there is no morality involved here.
I love how he's all 'deer in headlights' at first and then he realizes what was said, and turns into a belligerent defender. "Oh yeah...I'm a dick so I better be ready to fight!"
I love how the desire to marry into a committed relationship between two consenting adults gets turned into a middle school discussion with all the "What about polygamy? Child molestors? Cats? Corpses? It's a slippery slope." No, only if you're mentally and emotionally fucked up Ricky. Closet case asshole.
Sound like a bunch of GAY COWS in the crowd! LOL jk I couldn't help it, too funny. Santorum was asking his crowd a question then when they answered in a way he didn't like he said it was no longer participatory. Trying to get a head start on dictating orders to the American people Rick? You got treat America like a lady, coming on too strong on the first date is rude! It's only been a week since Iowa Rick, we hardly know each other.
I feel like we are all asking the wrong question in this debate. It's not why can't gay people be married, but why does government have a role in marriage to begin with? Marriage is a religious sacrament that involves two people and God. Not two people and their government. If you want to be married, then live your life as a married couple. You don't need government validation of your relationship.
If i may, what about the al qaeda affiliated jihadist attacks in nigeria, sudan, and yemen on christian churches? I dont think there was any western provocation to assert that to. There is absolutely nothing that warrants that behavior. The motive is to make those countries a islamic caliphate, they are anti-freedom. Rick santorum is dead on.
The polygamy argument, bestiality, etc.- all of those have been debunked, but Santorum isn't clever enough to use create an "undebunkable" argument.
The fact of the matter is, marriage is the union of two people based on their desire to share not just a life together but sexual intimacy as well. All straight people have a right to that type of union. But gays don't because Righties say that it's the fault of gays that they can only be intimate with someone of the same sex. Nonsense!
@Marchant2 The true fact of the matter is that marriage has always been between a man and a woman and the majority votes this to be true every time. And even when being debated it is premised as same-sex marriage, not just marriage, because everyone knows it is something different.
@aelllis07 Call it a civil union or domestic partners or something else entirely and the majority would support it, but the bullying, the booing and the name calling is not going to change peoples minds and it shouldn’t be allowed to change the meaning or a word that’s been use for thousands of years to please the minority. The union of two people based on their desire to share not just a life together but sexual intimacy, can all be done with a civil union, and my they live happily ever after.
@aelllis07 Come up with something new or leave it alone. All of your tired arguments don't pass the common sense or the constitutional smell (we've heard all about what the majority wants, and our constitution protects the minority against the majority - either address that portion of the constitution or leave it alone - repeating the same refuted argument over and over just makes you look not very clever).
@Marchant2 The common sense to the meaning of a word that has been around longer than you or I? That now must be changed to fit the needs of the minority? The constitution protects the minority but doesn’t give them any special rights to force the changing of a words meaning. Once again, the civil union would give them what they need, but they insist on trying to force there will on us all. And I’m sorry to say that I knew that personal attaches where going to come.
@aelllis07 Equal protection under the law, pursuit of happiness? Tired arguments? All these you and I have but they don’t give you the rights that you want to read into them. And insulting me does little for your cause.
Fuck you Santorum you cunt

ThePuffdady211 1 month ago
@ThePuffdady211 Since when are we told that we have to be catholic? last time i checked the constitution granted freedom of religion and does not a require me or anyone else in that matter to be catholic. And it would be Christianity as a whole the bud because catholism is a dying breed.

@keithmcneill55 my thoughts. on one hand, it's laughable how someone can be that stupid in this day and age, and then i remember that gay people are the victims of hate crime and suicide because they're forced into being straight.

Actually yeah, if all parties involved are consenting adults, why shouldn't they marry as many people as they like? Who would it be harming? And don't give me that "it kills the institution of marriage" bullshit, people have been crying about that since Henry VIII.
Lateralus347 1 month ago 19
@Lateralus347 henry Viii who killed a bunch of his wives...what is marriage for if anyone can get married to anyone and more than one person? doesn't it make marriage null and void if that's what it is in our society? it would be harming a lot of families for sure. what are people searching for when they want to marry tons of people?
willberthepig 1 month ago
@willberthepig Marriage isn't for anything. At this point in our history, it's purely symbolic (or you're marrying for the financial benefits). What business is it of yours, or mine, or anybody's, what people are "searching for" when they want to marry multiple partners? How does it legitimately effect you?
Lateralus347 1 month ago
@Lateralus347 who are we? if marriage isn't for anything then why defend your stance on it. if it means nothing to you why are you speaking for those who it obviously means something to? it effects me because i'm trying to defend what marriage is actually for and means. look at the history of marriage as an institution. it's really old and spans across societies. that could help to see what it means. if you were to marry someone would it simply be for financial benefits?
willberthepig 1 month ago
@willberthepig Well, the idea of marrying for love is really a very new idea. Historically it's more important as an allocation of resources between families. And truthfully, I think we could do that today without getting ideas of religion and "love" intertwined. What does marriage mean to you? And you still haven't answered my question; what business is it of yours who other people want to marry?
Lateralus347 1 month ago
@Lateralus347 where did i mention love? were locked in a battle of asking questions and not giving responses so I'll respond and then you respond to my question. My response is we live in a society where marriage and family are very important building blocks. if we define marriage as nothing really then we lose those blocks. it is our job as a society to define marriage. is it better that as a society we be one or that we be divided?
willberthepig 1 month ago
@willberthepig I see, and how do you feel about divorce? Doesn't that also kind of weaken the institution of marriage? Shouldn't that be made illegal too? It's true that marriage WAS an important building block for society, it's doubtful that our civilization would have made it this far without it. But there comes a time to put away the crutches.
Lateralus347 1 month ago

Gays are no more connected to polygamy than christians are connected to mormon polygamy.
clubindiana4 1 month ago
@clubindiana4 i was quoting the audience and santorum in this video, they say it becomes "whatever", which ultimately dissolves down to nothing. the ploy is to get people to say why they believe what they do instead of just attacking someone else's beliefs. it wasn't a link statement. there you have it. i hope you watched the video.
willberthepig 1 month ago
@willberthepig So....you recognize that polygamy and gay marriage are separate, unrelated issues?
clubindiana4 1 month ago
@clubindiana4 They are both aberrations of what we as a society define as marriage and fall into that category: aberrations.
octopibingo 1 month ago
@octopibingo "They are both aberrations"
To you, perhaps. You, however, have no right or privilege of defining morality in marriage.
Did you have any valid points today?
clubindiana4 1 month ago
@clubindiana4 Society defines morality and marriage and what we wish to recognize as normal or what we wish to pretend is.
So far, every state that could vote on the issue has voted overwhelmingly NO on homosexual marriage. I sense a trend.
octopibingo 1 month ago
@octopibingo And if you had held elections in every southern state 50 years ago on the question of whether black people should be allowed to marry whites, every one of those states would have voted overwhelmingly not to allow interracial marriage. Likewise with integration of public schools, and with the rest of the Jim Crow legislation. This is why basic human rights -- and let's be clear, equal treatment under the law IS a basic human right -- shouldn't be subjected to the popular vote.

i think gays should be allowed to marry because it's their business, but santorum does have a point here.

Rick santorum is dead on.
pimper347 1 month ago
The polygamy argument, bestiality, etc.- all of those have been debunked, but Santorum isn't clever enough to use create an "undebunkable" argument.
The fact of the matter is, marriage is the union of two people based on their desire to share not just a life together but sexual intimacy as well. All straight people have a right to that type of union. But gays don't because Righties say that it's the fault of gays that they can only be intimate with someone of the same sex. Nonsense!
Marchant2 1 month ago
@Marchant2 The true fact of the matter is that marriage has always been between a man and a woman and the majority votes this to be true every time. And even when being debated it is premised as same-sex marriage, not just marriage, because everyone knows it is something different.
aelllis07 1 month ago
@aelllis07 Call it a civil union or domestic partners or something else entirely and the majority would support it, but the bullying, the booing and the name calling is not going to change peoples minds and it shouldn’t be allowed to change the meaning or a word that’s been use for thousands of years to please the minority. The union of two people based on their desire to share not just a life together but sexual intimacy, can all be done with a civil union, and my they live happily ever after.
aelllis07 1 month ago
@aelllis07 Come up with something new or leave it alone. All of your tired arguments don't pass the common sense or the constitutional smell (we've heard all about what the majority wants, and our constitution protects the minority against the majority - either address that portion of the constitution or leave it alone - repeating the same refuted argument over and over just makes you look not very clever).
Marchant2 1 month ago
@Marchant2 The common sense to the meaning of a word that has been around longer than you or I? That now must be changed to fit the needs of the minority? The constitution protects the minority but doesn’t give them any special rights to force the changing of a words meaning. Once again, the civil union would give them what they need, but they insist on trying to force there will on us all. And I’m sorry to say that I knew that personal attaches where going to come.
