  • That was amazing Kain!

  • I really want to subscribe to Kain, but his last video was made nearly 2 years ago.

  • halo is stiil badass in 2bit

  • @antmanMK123 What on a calculator? I never knew Halo was ported to a calculator lol. The Atari 2600 is actually 8 bit and uses practically the same processor (6507) The 2600 had 2 address lines removed to make it cheaper calling it the 6502. Its all to do with the GFX chips used in NES and soforth, they free up cycles for the processor. 16bit era was the bit wars but only a way to say more power. GFX acceleration was the key just read SNES specs its CPU is still practically 8 bit.

  • 0:07 And that is why I no longer play Halo that often.

  • @kainkusanagi u r gonna make episodes, right?

  • Are you preparing some sort of special episode which is taking a year? Please answer me Kevin!

  • @Archelon100 Nope, just busy with life stuff.

  • I downloaded and printed out a box, but it's too small. I figure I could just increase the size on the computer, but I don't know the dimensions of an Atari game box. Can you help?

  • @1thetruezeldamaster The size of the file is correct. I think what happened is when you printed it, it re-sized it to fit on one sheet of paper. You have two choices. Option 1: print it out on multiple sheets of paper and tape or glue it together. Option 2: Take it to a print shop, for example Kinkos, and have them print it full size on a larger sheet of paper. The nice thing about taking it to a print shop is they might have heavy paper stock that feels like cardboard.

  • @kainkusanagi well can you tell me the dimensions of an Atari 2600 cartridge box? I not sure I can go to a print shop. And I actually have some cardstock to print it on.

  • @1thetruezeldamaster The printable dimensions are about 13 13/16inches by 10 13/16inches. I think the best thing for you to do would be to use cut the image in half and print the front and back separately. It will still be too tall, but you it might be close enough that you only lose a little from the top and bottom flaps.

  • BRING BACK 2-BIT GAMING

  • I require more video.

  • Make a new video already!!!!!

  • this was uploaded one day after my birthday

  • I checked it out and its pretty cool. But it need a multiplayer, four players local with everyone just 3lives, that would be awsome :D

  • New video???

  • When are you going to make a new video?

  • A new video???

  • you know what would be awesome? Having Metal Gear Solid on a retro console like the SNES or Genesis that had you use multiple cartridges and inputting a password you receive at the end of the previous cartridge to continue with the weapons you got in the previous cartridge.

  • @spider394 A 16bit MGS would be cool, but I don't think you'd need multiple cartridges. It wouldn't have speech or videos. All the cut-scenes would use the in-game graphics and text and the music could be chip tunes. If your interested you can play Metal Gear and Snakes Revenge on the NES and there's a Metal Gear Solid for the Game Boy Color.

  • Where did you ever arrive at 2-bit for the Atari 2600?

To put things in perspective, both the Atari 2600 and the NES were both based on

    8-bit 6502 based cpu's.

  • @machinesbreathe It's the name of the show. As in me giving my two cents on gaming. The phrase "two bit" is also slang for cheap. It's a play on words.

  • @machinesbreathe My bad. I had realized that just as soon as I had entered my comment earlier, and had taken the proper action to remove my errant post, however it seems that Youtube has failed me and in turn, made me an ass as well.

  • oh shit! from what movie is the guy with the exploding head?

  • @CrASYmUZIk Scanners

  • Just bough myself an NES......... but still have an atari 2600 ;)

  • Hey I really like your videos. keep up the good work!!! Internet celebrity status FTW

  • they should put this on xbox live arcade

  • Dude. I know you may be busy, but I am literally DYING over here without a new vid from you. Please, please PLEASE, do anything. Ahhh!

  • Hi bro, great video, hey bro I have question, where do you got the game ??

  • @amilcar14able AtariAge dot com or you can play it online at the link in the description.

  • how many old consoles do you think people are still making new games for?

  • @thetanplzer That's a good question. The homebrew community is surprisingly larger, but few have the resources to manufacture the games. AtariAge dot com has Atari 2600 and 5200 homebrew games, but I don't think they do others. I know of a few places that will do NES, Genesis, SNES, but I've yet to find any that do ColecoVision, Jaguar, Turbo Grafx-16, Intelivision, etc. There are a few small Dreamcast developers that have actual Dreamcast development kits that manufacture their games though.

  • @kainkusanagi What about Sega Saturn come on give the Sega Saturn some love.

  • @thetanplzer Oh I love the Saturn, some of my all time favorite games on the it. I've been planing to do a Panzer Dragoon show for awhile, but I don't know when I'll have time to do it.

  • @kainkusanagi never played it...unfortunately

  • Shit. Always thought it was programmed by Fred Fucks.

  • @MrLastkill3r Fred Fucks is the greatest programmer of all time man. Wouldn't surprise me if he made something this epic.

  • @NeutralGuy100 fred programmed better games!

  • thanks for this kain keep the vids coming up to standard as always :D

  • without the nes we would have had never gotten out of the video game crash for a long time.

  • @segaatari25 I don't know, the market was ready for it so if not for Nintendo it probably would have been Sega. Sega was already making video game consoles before Nintendo released the Famicom. The crash was really only in the US, the rest of the world was still enjoying video games so Sega or another company would have reignited the US market if Nintendo hadn't. It just might have been a few months later.

  • @kainkusanagi yeah but I think the reason so much people were drawn into nintendo is Mario, everyone loved him and he was created in 1982 with the game donkey kong . But sonic was created in the early 90's to compete with mario and draw in a fan base, so you could argue without mario there would have never sonic thus concluding sega would have been nothing without mario and nintendo.

  • @kainkusanagi Sega was a very, VERY, successfully arcade gaming company and they released the Sega SG-1000, Mark II and Mark III consoles before Nintendo released the Famicom. Sure Donkey Kong was a huge hit, a personal favorite of mine, and Mario is a phenomenon. But Sega was a huge name in video games before Nintendo. I agree that without Mario we would not have seen Sega respond with Sonic, but to say Sega would be nothing without Nintendo is a fallacy.

  • new video please

  • Its nice to see you making more videos. i hope you have the time to make more

  • the magnavox odyssey would indeed be the most important console.

  • @seganerd89 Being the first doesn't automatically mean most important. The Odyssey only built in games. It's "cartridges" just flipped switches to set different modes. The only game it had that was worth playing was it's Ping Pong game and even it sucked compared to it's competitors.

Ralph Baer is a genius and pioneer, but his little brown box is more important because it inspired Atari which gave us the 2600 and the video game industry. The Odyssey is a footnote while the 2600 is a landmark.

  • @kainkusanagi Okaayyy. Without the odyssey you wouldn't have your atari.

  • @seganerd89 The Magnavox Odyssey is an analogue machine that can barely move cursors around enough to play a very rudimentary ping pong game. Sure without it we might not have seen Pong in the arcade and in homes, but the digital video game industry as we know it today was founded by Atari thanks to the 2600.

By your logic the very first video games would be the most important, "Tennis for Two" and "Spacewar!". Sure they came first, but it took Nolan Bushnell and Atari to do it right.

  • @kainkusanagi Yeah but the odyssey was still the first video game console, And technically the telstar and the telstar arcade would have been the ones to kickoff the gaming market

  • 0:00-0:09: HAHA! That's almost exactly what happened to me the first time I played Halo Reach's multiplayer.

  • Pretty interesting. The gameplay to me is sort of like a cross between adventure and berzerk. One more thing, where did you get the video clip of your "uncle's" head exploding?

  • @FastTquick It's from the movie "Scanners".

  • omg your so cooool :)

  • It would be great if they do the same for genesis or supernintendo using the hardware of both systems could be a great game.

  • Haha.. Halo 2600 "scanned" your uncle! Poor guy. :P

  • oh btw, how do u hook up ur videogame systems 2 ur PC?

  • @tjrouhibjr That's just a editing trick. I play my games on a regular TV and capture them on my PC with a USB capture device. For the show I just make it look like I'm playing them at on my computer monitor so I don't have to haul my camera and sound stuff to another room. It's just movie magic.

  • There's also the new Pier Solar game for the Genesis/Megadrive coming out soon.

  • They should have made an Atari style box for it.

  • @FAKEBC After I posted this video I found out that AtariAge had just released an official box for separate purchase. It costs $30 and doesn't come with the game, and besides the size it's not a standard Atari style. It still looks cool though.

  • how did u get that Halo 2600 emulator? i went to codemystcs, it wasnt there, and theres no search bar

  • @tjrouhibjr I put the link in the description. Just click on it to go directly to the browser game.

  • @kainkusanagi ok, thanks kain!

  • Hey Kain, I'm interested in who YOU would recommend to check out on Youtube. Gaming or not, always looking for a quality uploader like yourself. I need to check more cool stuff out.

  • @dustdust2929 Check out freddiew‬‎ he does top quality stuff. His game parodies are hilarious. Mandalorian30‬‎ has some very interesting shows, one is about game characters and their toys. mcfrosticles‬‎ is another great one if you like game history. PaletteSwapNinja‬‎ is the best at game parody music. RedLetterMedia‬‎'s Star Wars reviews are a must. RetrowareTV‬‎ is full or win, and so is screwattack‬‎. snakemanbc‬‎ is my brother and he does funny parodies of trailers. TheOnion‬‎, nuff said.

  • Great review. I was lucky enough to snag a cartridge out at the Classic Gaming Expo. Gonna check out that box template and manual.

  • @DlNKYDANA If you look in the AtariAges forums there's a official box you can get for $30 that matches the black CGE edition.

  • hell yeah battle kid. new though???

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 lol, newer than most NES games.

  • As always, perfectly presented, and humorous too!

  • damn dude i love old games! and halo!

  • I have a cartridge copy of this game as well from Atari age.

    Its a home-brew I recommend to everyone.

  • wow i've been playing halo ce a lot lately but personally i don't care about reach cause i don't have any up to date consoles(unless you count my computer) i use to until the ds lite stopped being up to date.

  • the bit with your uncle was hilarious. What movie is that from?

  • @thenintendogamer It's from Scanners.

  • Cool, this is a game that I really would buy if I had a 2600.

  • I remember playing this as a kid. Classic. The Halos on Xbox owe much to their ancestor.

  • KEEP MAKING MORE 2-BIT GAMING EPISODES PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • Always nice to see new videos, Kain :)

Anyway... the game looks really fun, even to me who never really got the time to play 2600 games.

Especially the fact that someone from Microsoft programmed the game is an interesting fact if you ask me, I mean... how many times happens something like this?

In the end... interesting game and a SFX for the guns, I really like.

  • i played the flash version but it was quite laggy on multiple computers, i shall download the game and play it on my ds

  • u got halo reach awsome dude IMA PICK MINE UP TODAY AFTER SCHOOL HALO REACH FTW remember reach

  • Hey its great to see you back, so what have you been up too that has you so busy? Have you been charming ladies again? lol

The exploding uncle head cracked me up lol.

  • nice another great vid man

  • AMAZING Show and pretty awesome episode !!!

  • looks a bit like berzerk

    wouldnt mind havin a copy

  • Those boxes are excellent. Your talent never ceases to amaze me.

  • Hi Kain, glad to see another video.. I wondered if you had a skype/yahoo/msn or xfire and the like.. If not, it's fine.. i'll just watch on here.

Would be awesome if you did though, I love classic games mainly since they are Alot better then "360, PS3" games.

I find myself still buying PS2 games, and constantly downloading Emulators..

I forgot how hard Sonic Spinball was till I redownloaded it. Got my butt handed to me, didn't even make it to the boss. LOL.

  • Consider this my thumbs up!

  • Make more faster!!! It takes you too much time for 1 review D: last one was 1 month ago and the 1 before 8 months ago!!

  • I bet all 130 are already sold out. Wait this game was made with Bungies permission? Really thats cool.I played the original Halo on the Xbox years ago. Pretty good game. The game play and graphics still hold up pretty well today. Good review.

  • @PearlJammer07 That first 130 are gone, but AtariAge is making more, but the waiting list might be kind of long. It's free to play online though.

  • The new what for NES?

  • @knuxthefox Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril, you can learn more about it and buy it at retrousb (dot) (come)

  • @kainkusanagi Thanks. I checked the game out and it looks pretty cool. It seems very reminiscent of Mega Man, but the graphics are rather impressive for the 8-bit brick.

  • @knuxthefox Yeah a little Mega Man a little I Wanna Be The Guy. If you want a free game designed to test your skill you should google "I Wanna Be The Guy".

  • @kainkusanagi I've played it, but got frustrated with it and watched a LP instead.

  • I got my copy Woo Hoo!

  • @MaximumRD It's probably safe to say that in 10 years it will easily be the most rare Halo game and the only cartridge Halo game. That's like double rare.

  • Great review.

    Halo Forever!!!!

BTW, are you going to review Battle Kid for NES?

    Love the head explosion, LOL!!!

  • @SunnyC247 Lol, maybe. It's hard to do a review after your head has exploded, but you'd think typing would be difficult too.

  • WOO NEW 2BIT GAMING!

  • I was very negative about this game when I heard about it. Seeing some gameplay of it has makes me want to play it to see if I was wrong to be negative about it.

  • @retromanpresents It's fun, and free to play online.

  • Good to see you putting out some new videos, your vids are really good

  • good to see you back

  • I need an atari...

  • i was almost as excited as your uncle
