@kylejheard91 its a dog engagement geared transmission. notice how theres still a clutch. the gears are straight cut so you dont need a clutch to shift, which is why they whine like reverse does in a standard transmission. if you look at a shifter in a rally car, it still moves when they hit the paddles. theyre not looking to make it fun to move a shifter back and forth. all that does is slows down their shift times and takes one too many hands off the wheel

@lookredcrayola Actually, new WRCs are not using the paddles anymore... DS3 WRC, Fiesta WRC and Mini WRC, as well as Polo next year!
