I have proudly followed S.F.since I was given a beat up cassette of J.R.Slim in 1978 in Dublin as a teenager, and I feel I have Honestly come full circle having seen Ryan Adams in Concert .I am truly blessed to have these Musicians in my life.
First heard Romeos song going across the Sahara, In a Beat up Vikings Tour Coach,1980 Fantastic trip ,And still love hearing the song today,Still so fresh
biggestzoo.... mate c'mon.... he's anything but an ass..... he's obviously very sincere, humble and serious about writing music.... and over the years has turned out some great tunes ....30 years to be exact..... its obvous from your comment, you were having a bad day!
He's a fucking asshole. I worshipped him back in the early 90's and went to see him in Boston with my girl. He asked the crowd what they wanted to hear and was calling on people. I owned his album American in Me and asked for the title song. He made a face at me, waved me off, and embarrassed me in front of the audience. I will never understand it. Fuck you redneck. Was I too handsome for your soft ego or what? Write more sad songs and wonder why you never made it.
I saw Steve Forbert in SLC, Utah around 2001 or 2002. Just him, his guitar and harmonica and a sound guy. Best damn concert I ever saw and heard in my life!! Thank you Steve
First heard Steve on radion in 1979 singing Romeo's Tune, 29 years later I'm still listening to Steve, he is sincere, awesome, cool and one of the most generous kindest performers I have ever seen. After his concerts he signs autographs and takes photos until EVERYONE is done. What a nice person, and great talent! Oh, yeah, I am a fan!!!!
this is a great interview. i'm originally from Tom's River, NJ...been listening to Steve forever. l love this guy knowing that his heart is in NJ. 60% of the nations eggplant is grown in NJ. yeah it's smelly too.
Curious.. Why is he a jerk in your eyes, Mikey? Is it something in this interview or have you delt with him out side of this? I don't see anything jerkish in what he has to say here.. Just seems like a regular cat.
Great to hear from you this way Steve! I've been a fan since seeing you with Van Morrison in Toronto in 78 or 79'. You've written some fantastic songs which still sound so fine. Please return to Hugh's Room asap - Thank you for all your music and time on the road.
