well yeah melvins where a huge inspiration to kurdt. but its because they where his idols, along with few other bands, but this was one of his greatest grunge influences, and nirvana toured with them, and the lead singer of melvins played several shows with nirvana. so yeah kurt used to idolize them, then they became good friends.

Grunge IS metal. In fact, grunge was never even a genre. Grunge was when a couple of bands in seattle fused metal and punk together in one way or another. I mean really, what's the similarity between Soundgarden and Nirvana except that you can hear some metal and punk influences in both bands?

This is exactly my point. Grunge does not, and has never existed. Grunge is just either alterative rock, slower hardcore-punk/almost sludge metal or just punk rock. The variety between the different grunge bands are just too big to give them all one genre in my opinion.

Yep Orange Amps. Not sure if they are his, or someone else owns them because in a 2008 interview Buzz said he used Hiwatt amps. In videos of older gigs on You Tube he uses Marshall's. Maybe he changes out every so often to try new stuff.
