  • The U2 doesnt like no POS Pontiac trying to overtake it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @workshop77777 It's not even a Pontiac dumbass. It's a Holden and it's very reliable and fast. That's why they're being used.

  • @deezomaxima LLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Holden have a contract to put cars into Beale airforce base do they lol. That one must have slipped by us. They are badged Pontiac. Derived as they may be I dont think you will find anyone around Beale calling them Holdens

  • @workshop77777 that's not the point so I don't know what's so funny. It's funny how the Youtube clowns (you being one of them) talk so much shit about stuff and don't have a clue or fact about what you're diss. The Pontiac G8 GT is not a POS. It's one of the best cars driven on the road and highly underrated. The AF picked these Holden built cars for a reason and it's not because of dumbass comments like yours.

  • @deezomaxima Trololololol The AF was under orders to prop up a flagging US car company, the cars were so good the company has since gone out of business :(

  • @workshop77777 Sure they were and where's your proof of the assumption you're making. Pontiac is out of business, not Holden and the cars are still being made.

  • You guys hiring?

  • @ BruceK10032 they usually do touch and go for training exercises. They have the pilot land and take off again to make the most of training pilots how to land the U2 because it is so difficult. I was able to take a trip to see this in action and it's quite amazing and VERY loud at takeoff. The chase vehicle guides the aircraft down because it only has two wheels. (a motorcycle with a 104ft wingspan). It is amazing to see in person and if you ever get a chance to see one up close I recommend it.

  • So what was that about? Why did they land and then take off again? Was it just a show for the video?

  • how do i get this job

  • So were they just practicing landings since they took off again right after? How many times would they do this?

I have been trying to find a figure of this airplane that doesn't cost almost $150 for ages yet they don't seem to have them. They have figures of almost every other military aircraft out there!

  • Hey looks like Huggy talking in the mobile!!! :):)

  • @jcnme27 OK, just read the description and it is Huggy. I remember him from RAF Alconbury from 91-93 when he was a Captain. Awesome pilot and great guy.

  • Why two chase cars? In case one wipes out? Training for the chasers? Or just because it's fun to bomb around the tarmac in a Pontiac? =P

  • @justforever96 because they have a primary and a secondary, and only people wanting to do a ride along have to stay in the secondary and they dont really do anything but fallow the primary around...

  • That is amazing! Since Pontiac has been discontinued maybe you can convince the brass to switch to Camaros. :)

  • Indeed (bllk8911)

  • Awesome. Never gets old watching her fly. When I was a crew chief, Huggy was a Captain and we were flying out of RAF Alconbury.

  • sorry if i sound stupid..but why are they chasing?

  • @DfROX96 It's difficult for the pilots to know when the landing gear touches down, plus, with the bicycle style landing gear the pilot needs to be lined up perfectly, thus the advantage of having a chase car.

  • they are pilots in the air force and they need a chase car cause the pilot cant see the wings and the guys in the car are telling the pilot where his wings are and what he has to do to remain balanced

  • why dont they have a normal landing gear configuration?

  • @vroomba03

    To reduce the weight

  • i bet that girl over the radio's hot

  • WOW! That's a real job.

  • I love this video so very much. That sunset/sunrise, the roar of the chase car, and the graceful U2 are just beautiful when combined. It also give one the feeling you get when holding short of the runway while another large aircraft zooms past as it lands.

  • How does one get THIS job!!!!

  • i love how the car starts to pass the U2 then the plane is like Oh Hell No! and take off

  • Thats up there in one of the worlds coolest jobs.

  • 1:20 what a view!!!

  • What do Pontiac in the USA call the blue coupe, we make them here in Australia as a Holden Monaro and export them over to you guys.

  • @777Timbo GTO

  • @777Timbo The Monaro is called the GTO here in the states. The blue was the impulse blue metallic. The camra car was the G8 which is the Commador done under the same principles as the GTO. It was a huge shame GM cut Pontiac. The cars being imported over from Aussie land was really starting to make an impact. I have a GTO now and had full intentions of getting a G8 to go with it. Then they cut it.

  • @hankwvu Cool thought so. That's gotta suck about them cutting it

  • I was expecting seeing some guy chasing a Chinese woman lol

  • Thought the Dragonlady ws named after a Dragonfly because the ones that fly around my nut tree in the back garden look like this plane.

  • "its true. If the plane goes over a certain speed it will break up and if it goes too slow it will fall out the sky".... Thats why they call it the dragon lady...you can dance with the lady or fight with the dragon.

  • wow this is so awesome, you guys must have a really cool capt who signed off on buying the G8 and GTO...

  • this is a nice way to earn a living...

  • @blk8911 Until you get it wrong and there's all hell to pay!

  • One of the ex-U2-pilot once said, you almost need to stall it to land.

  • its true. If the plane goes over a certain speed it will break up and if it goes too slow it will fall out the sky. the difference between these to speeds is very close

  • @Hichu1980 Nearly every plane stalls to land.

  • can anybody explain why they need to chase this plane? is that like that all the time, whenever a U2 lands?

  • The chase car driver tells the pilot how far his landing wheel is off the ground.

  • @zorro051969 Due to the position of the landing gear it makes landing the place very difficult. The chase cars are in contact with the pilots and call out the distance to the ground. 5,4,3,2,1..

  • @zorro051969 Yes, being in the U-2 you can't see your wheels. The chase car (the main one, in the front, not the one the video was being captured in) is constantly communicating with the pilot. "10 feet. 8 feet. 5 feet."

He is letting the Pilot know how far away he is from the ground.

    ----

He said Buttes! That means this is Beale AFB! My JROTC take a trip and got to see several landings, touch and go's, and we even saw a High Flight Take Off! It was extremely loud!

  • GM serving its country! WTG, thanks for your services ladies and gentleman.

  • Crazy airplane. Incredibly bitchy to land, but when he gooses the throttle on that touch and go, it's like ZOOP, up on it's tail and climbing in about 2 seconds. It's like the thing wants to fly.

  • Hey can I help you guys out?, no need to give me a car I'll bring my own GTO!

  • Awesome video, check mine out from Cyprus :)

  • wow - just amazing i was in a chase car in cyprus for a ride along when their U2 landed there

  • this is probably the coolest chase video of all,the evening really sets the mood along with all the red lights and orange flightline lights...

  • that bad ass.

  • so am i see you there ;D

  • im gonna do that soon!! HAHAH!

  • And they pay you do do that! Sigh,I`m jealous lol

  • jus asesome.. the most special plane ever.. al do i say it myself

  • Very cool Sagar!
