@DLP5800 hi there. the mastercontrol will work with pro tools version 9 not 8

1.a The interface has a Midi In and Midi Out which will function as ins / outs for the Computer / DAW.
1.b You could also use a midi routing app to use the assignable CC's of the Plug-In presets to control hardware if you were so inclined.
2. Yes it will work with the latest version of Logic as Logic supports the Mackie Control protocol.
