this is so awesome! one time i went to florida, or maybe it was california, i was like two, but i built a sand castle. and it was so awesome cause my mom was like, have you heard of a manitee? and since i was so little i didnt know what the heck that even was, so i just kept on building my sand castle, but then, later that night (after we left and came back, and i had to go to the bathroom) i went back to my sand castle, and the tide had actually come in, and my mom said it was cause of the moon

i stayed at jensens marina, and it is quite a sight to see manatees up at your dock! captiva is the best place

This is really cool! when we were kayacking in captiva, manatees came under our kayack and bumped it =) it was awesome

Captiva and Sanibel island really is such a neat place.

unfortunately most of the manatee you find have scars mostly because of all the boats motors...its a shame, they are such peaceful and docile creatures..and like Jaques1 says no one seems to appreciate then anymore

yea very true, its very sad. Every year we vacation on Captiva Island. Last year we watched a Sheriff boat haul in a dead manatee. The accident was from a large boat running through the channel

ooo how cute and funny, I stayed at "jensens on the gulf" at captiva.Me and my family were there in the easter 2007 and we alson saw the manatees. I think i recodnized the manate with scars on the back.
