keiko he was a famous orca in sea world and he was suffering a skin disease from the stress of his environment when free willy was written they knew instantly keiko was the whale for the movie after the movie wanted keikos freedom and he was trained to become a wild orca he had a tracking device pierced into his top fin went off to search for human he would give little kids rides and after a year in the wild he died his body was then taken out of the ocean and burried

I really love Orca...i watched Free Willy when i was a lil girl...i didn't know much about him,i even didn't know his real name was Keiko...i just knew it now...and you know what,there's a baby lizard in my room and i named it Keiko,well the baby lizard didn't compare to the beauty that Keiko ever had...but i'm glade i named that baby lizard Keiko..because i really love Orca especially Keiko...have fun in heaven Keiko :)

Keiko will never be forgotten. I was 5 years when he died, but already watched all the movies and was a huge fan. I had much stuff of him, pictured, posters and the movies. When he died, I was crying for atleast a week. I was completely destroyed. He will always be in my heart, and I'll never forget him. I think of him still everyday. And I still have the stuff. I met Keiko once, he was amazing and so sweet. It was amazing how sweet he was and soft. I love him forever, and so do many people!

You clearly know nothing of Keiko's story... Do your research before spouting off PETA's Disneyfied nonsense. They tried to rehabilitate and release him into the wild. Give the folks who worked with him some credit. But he was simply too fond of hanging around people. I have worked with animals trying to do the same thing, prepare them for return to the wild. But not every case is successful. That is REALITY! That is why private preserves and other facilities exist.
