On the other hand, a lot of vets would like to walk again, so this thing could still pay dividends even if just for those guys! I am proud of dual purpose tax dollars! I would love to see those guys get robot legs to replace the ones some shitty landmine caused. So if this doesn't catch on with the healthy troops, let's keep the funding for it to help the guys who can no longer even walk.
Ok I just returned from the Natick research center in Massachusetts for testing this thing. The movements are not natural and it pretty much sucks. We had to attempt a 2 hour march with a 75lb load on our back and everyone was pretty much done within 45 minutes due to shin splints. One guy even ended up on profile for a week with a bruised foot. It is definitley not suitable for a combat situation.
One very important tool in military tactics is strategic repositioning. This Exoskeleton sort of takes that off the table it appears. LOL this guy couldn't pick himself up if he fell, let alone any sort of fast strategic repositioning. Give the enemy a pellet gun and a pair of hiking boots and our guys would be up sh*t creek. Back to the drawing board.
@HUGHS5001 Haha, good comment. Mmm, but maybe it's stealthy? Hmm, I'm thinking if the firing starts you'd want out of this thing pronto. I guess you can ditch it quick or maybe use it is a walking shield? I think the servo motors may get picked up by sensitive camel ears within 1 mile or more, better to stick with normal human loads anyway. I am seeing that scene in Platoon where the private is hauling all this junk and his Sgt rips half of it off anyway, wants his guys mobile like you said.
sadly, until these inventions are cost effective, and cost less than "the life of a soldier," noone is even going to consider implementing them in combat. unfortunately, nowadays war is a business.
how would it react if the man fell with the maximum load? Would the man be injured by the weight of the load? Could he get back up under his own power or with help? Is there a easy (and preferrably quick) way to get out of a fully loaded suit if it for some reason lost functionality?

That little toe-leap at 1:45 is what impressed me the most. Just shows exactly how fluid and natural the movement is.

I wonder what is the power source for this. You can't get so much energy from usual batteries...

Notice this soldier is all by himself? That's because the rest of his platoon is a good mile ahead of him and are not waiting.
Poor guy looks like he's handicap! They should try selling this crap to the enemy so it will be easier to kill them.
