I attended his concert in Bogotá, many years ago. splendid. Maestro. No discusion. But tom Jobim and Venicius are tops, aswell. Viva e Bossa Nova. Just hear Teresa da Prahia
@lindseyblair Correct, Bob and Steve. This was recorded 1967 in Berlin at the Berlin Jazz festival. They released a sampler of the festival on Vinyl and one of my buddies in High School found a copy in his father's record collection. 2 or 3 tunes on the record were by Baden. Great stuff!
baden powell is, for me, still the most vibrant guitarist of all time. no one can compare with his range of dynamics together with his technique and musicalty.
Didnt realise all you Baden Powell fans are so sensitive. I said it was brilliant but I prefer Stan Getz version. Your Baden Powell fanaticism borders on juvenile.

I personally don't dig this sped up version so much. Where's the relaxed Bossa Nova vibe?? This sounds more like Brazillian flamenco than Bossa Nova, no offense.
Baden Powell style has never been a kind of relaxed bossa nova regarding to the rhythm. I agree that there's a flash of flamenco at the beginning, but not enough to call this performance Brazilian Flamenco.
most latin music have common point, but its really easy to say that this is "brazilian flamenco" (i dont know if it really mean something), it doesnt have the dancer, the rythm is not the same at all...alright he use a classical guitar but it has not a lot of what makes flamenco what it is, Its pure Baden Powell : real heavy Samba rythm. who's a brother of the bossa nova..
I think this is the most nostalgic song EVER, it kills me every time! And this rushed version adds a little bit of an angry feeling too. Baden Powell = genius
Almir Menezes

Love this. But Stan Getz is the best version. I dont believe there is a better piece of music in this world than Getz to just sit and listen to.
twattytwattwat 2 years ago
So, you should upload it. But I really doubt it is better than this one.
