  • @no1cp

List them. List every single website that functions as youtube.

Then, tell me which of those sites won't just ban you too for whatever reason they want.

If you can't do this, that makes you A LIAR.

  • I outright repealed one of my striked videos by saying no one has to watch my videos, but I have to adhere to their shit rules. It's harassment, and I'm not putting up with it.

I already whined to the BBB, and I'll whine to FCC and ACLU too. Eventually someone will listen. I already estimated youtube would owe me in a lawsuit by 460,000 dollars. Now more because they insist on removing more of my videos.

And why do video removals always equal a strike? Shouldn't they be two different things?

  • @JimProfitCommunist Just an fyi -- You don't have to adhere to their rules. You are free to upload all of your videos on a private website. Granted, if you do go with YouTube, then of course you will have to agree to their rules/regulations. Just sayin'... you have options.

  • FakeSagan and TJ are SCUM. Not sure why you wanna highlight an e-beggar and a raging psychotic for your video.

  • Are we talking about all rights being protected or are we talking about the rights the ACLU believes in?

I think since businesses do have so much control over our freedoms these days we need to band together, but to do so we need to leave all our own political opinions at the door & use a very broad approach to protecting all rights of everyone.

I don't see gays giving up on their 'hate speech' nor do I foresee blacks accepting the KKKs free speech or the Jews accepting Nazi free speech.

  • yay tj

  • I pray this never happens to you liberalviewer. not that i believe in god...

  • I pray this never happens to you liberalviewer.

  • chortle! he said "penal"

  • blame the jews says the liberian express/beatrice yatch..one will suffer each time a video of mine is pulled...quarenteed<--

  • @TheAtheistParadigm The reasons I terminated all your 28 accounts include: not being able to spell "yacht", not being able to spell "guaranteed" (even if the "q" is a typo, the "e" is a repeated error of yours), not being able to spell in general, being a Nazi racist bastard, being a pervert, being illiterate, being a loser, and being bald.

If you have any problems with any of those reasons, tough shit, slaphead.

  • @electroexecutoide the last time i got beaten up was by a jew(the time before you beat me up Electro)..i'm fed up of being picked on just because i'm bald

  • @THEATHElSTPARADlGM That's because you're a pathetic piece of wet vegan salad, you weakling, and don't expect me not to beat the shit out of you again just because you're being a creep, you bald-headed twat.

  • Very good, well researched and presented video. I completely agree with your stance set forth in this video.

  • I agree with you.

  • I didn't realize you had "dot rights". Sucks that other people have to pay for your "dot rights".

  • I betcha that some christian person that is of high profile, had youtube too suspended the account of TheAmazingAtheist, for his views. Just like Kenneth Copeland and Robert Tilton have had my account and others suspended. We are entitled to our views and opinions. It is freedom of speech!!!!

  • I'm so mad at YouTube right now! I recently changed my email address for my YouTube account and now I can't log in to my account. I got a confirmation email and I clicked the link in the email. A new window popped up and it said "Your email has been confirmed." But the next time I tried to log in, I got an error message saying "Account disabled, please use a different email." I don't know why it is doing this. I can't change back email address back to the old one and I would like to do that.

  • if you hsvr no access to a fortune 100 companies treasury, #UN#, the have the supreme court just made your vote obsolete

  • i got more flavor than fruits got gum

  • Hehe, penal

  • The best way to convince YouTube to change would be to move to another video sharing site (like Dailymotion) or threaten to move to another video sharing site. This would have to be done by a large number of people to have any real effect, but it could convince YouTube to improve if users are persistent.

  • Common sense should be able to steer you right in most 'gray' areas on Youtube an in life- if you wouldn't want somebody to do something to you, then doing it to them might be morally wrong, if not illegal. This isn't always a case of black and white, of course, but it is my opinion that in a person's country, that an overwhelming majority of people would have no hard time with reasoning their behavior within the constraints of their society. The few that cannot very often clash with society.

  • Hey, as long as you are not being obscene about something, like dropping the racial slurs and being excessive, then you are entitled to your opinion.

  • nigga what?

  • I don't like big corporations totally ruling everything any more than totalitarian governments. At least we can still elect government officials and have some input unlike the big corporations which might not even be in this country.

  • I like the very end of the video where he states that its a video is an opinion. i think that people that g on youtube have to understand that what they are watching and that if it offends them that they should stop watching, because in my opinion most of the video channels he quoted are ones that are opinion based videos. so it should be the viewers responsibility to understand what they are getting themselves into.

  • great vid.

  • wth r u blabbin about

  • Censorship: unjustifiable suspension and even imprisonment without trial if they could.

    The eroding American freedom

  • I like how Youtube will bring the ban hammer down on some seemingly random channels sometimes. "Oh, hey, this guy has some copyright song from some famous band, lets ban him and completely ignore the other fifty-thousand people on this list who have the same thing on their accounts." Seriously whenever I see a music video or channel that had the video or w/e on my favorites banned I just look it up and can find the SAME THING. Is youtube playing favorites or just drinking their lunch?

  • You talk alot of shit - honestly.

  • 'Cuz YouTube is srsbiznis.

Seriously, if you have a problem with a ban on the site, you have the right to take it to court, if you really feel your rights are being infringed upon. You'll probably be laughed right out of there, though, because it's just the internet.

YouTube can really do whatever they want. If you have a problem with that, go find a different site to use, or even make your own.

I think it's pretty crazy to think that YouTube bans people based on the opinions they express.

  • this guy explained that it was a business. if you're not in violation of the rules, then being suspended is bad business. some of you people need to watch and comprehend what you're seeing before a comment.

  • this is why i hate government

  • whoa whoa whoa

leave it to a liar to try to make the law say what they want it to.

Youtube should be able to do what they want with their own item. it belongs to them.

Tj helps to ensure that people are harassed on youtube, daily, because his subscribers go waaaaay out of their way to pursue such. He 'promotes hatred and voilence', knows that he does so, enjoys the power he has, and loves the defence he gets from people like you, whom use logical fallacy instead of arguments with merit.

  • How does he promote violence? I undsestand the hatred thing but I don't remember watching any of his videos wher ehe promoted violence toward anyone.

  • Oh really Youtube is not for 'Inavading people's privacy' THEN WHY THE FUCK CNA'T THEY LEAVE US ALONE (COMMENTS, CHANNELS,VIDEOS) FUCKING HYPOCRITS!

  • I was in violation of the community guidelines and got the ax...I agree with you...you tube should lighten up and allow freedom of speech, isn't that what this country is supposed to be about.

  • Youtube does this all the time. They go after Jewish channels and then allow neo nazi skin heads. And copyright material? LOADS OF IT HERE! AND THEY DO NOTHING! NOTHING!!

  • liberal viewer you have a lot of mail.

  • blame the flaggers more than youtube. But youtube has responsiblity.

  • la la la la la la bamba

  • WOW I felt like I talked to a lawyer. 5 STARs

  • hola

  • .99 cents to download a video??? wtf whats going on in here !!!

  • My sentiments exactly

  • is it just me or does that TJ guy look kinda scary?

  • yes he does but ocasionally he majes some point

  • FUCK YOUTUBE

    :D

  • Because it's an empty threat. Christians cannot see to it that anyone will be eternally tortured. It's just a bunch of hot air.

  • The 'threat' issue is highly significant. Why are religious sites which threaten us atheists with eternal torture not get banned? And yet, criticise their religious idols, then we can find oirselves banned.

  • I feel any business has the right to refuse business with anyone.

  • I think if people use stupid s for another s they should be suspended same if they use video boosting view hacker stuff

  • Not the greatest example of unfair suspension. You feel 'the love' thats being spread there. If people who own this site don't want it to be used as a vechile for spreading hate then they have a right to take it down.

If you can explain why someone who has no agenda other than to enterain gets suspended TWICE caroline372 riksy372 in a matter of months that would be more meaningful.

Are those Adverts on your channel?

  • I hate when awesome channels are suspended. Most of the anime-related channels I subscribed to are being removed. It's horrible to have all that work you've done, all the subscribers you get, your channel, and friends you met on here to be gone just like that.

  • 4:54 aclu (dot) org / tech --> 404

Way to maintain good url standards...

  • nvm... aclu*NC* works

  • Its called an end user agreement you break their rules you get kicked off

  • the best u could find is amazing atheist a mentally challenged user?

what about all the accounts shutdown only for criticizing Israel,or the accounts who have thousands of comments but a hundred views such as representativepress.

look at featured videos all crappy dull shit, with no subsistence just like your atheist buddy.

you want to get on Jewtupes ugly side put a video talking about Israel and Zionism.

  • Time to make a new youtube, and stick it to the man.

  • Start "New Tube" and sell to Microsoft.

Many controversial views are hard for mainstream advertisers(read on You Tube) to accept.

  • My channel was permanently suspended because it had videos exposing the intentions of Islamists.

It did not violate any guidelines. They did not give any explanation which part were offensive or violated the rules.

How to find what's going on and how to make youtube accountable.

  • You subscribe to Amazing Atheist too. Nice.

  • add me at twitter reyesanton thanks

  • YouTube is cracking down on Free Speech to ease the coming transitions...

Like the new "World Bank," which Obama put in $500 Billion + $120 Billion of US Treasury Assets.

Alternative Media needs to rise because corporatism is growing teeth, claws, censors, and subversion of the laws ...

Give it 50 years, and you will see unprecedented consolidation of industrial and military powers that will oil its gears and levers with the blood of the people.

  • I mean, the research on internet bullying is still in the works, but studies have indicated that it can have the same sorts of disastrous effects as face to face bullying on a person's self-esteem. Bullying to me is intolerable in any form, and I think that youtube was justified in suspending TJ for 2 weeks...as a sidenote, has anyone seen his latest videos? the poor baby is asking for donations to buy himself a new computer; the guy's pathetic. While we're at it, why don't we buy his book? ha

  • Ya TJ is a little cruel. But maybe being atheist, you can't really identify with a lot of people, and sometimes people just ignore you because of that. Maybe that makes him bitter, and he takes it out on youtube. Although, he has some good arguments.

  • Also, what is "contact?" I think in your description of the term, it refers to physical or direct contact. But i think that the statutes are antiquated. Youtube might be an asynchronous discourse medium, but publicly acessible videos also retain an intimate synchronous dimension. They are directed towards people, and other users are able to respond to them. In light of these conditions, I think videos are tantamount to "contact" even if the contact is not physical or completely direct.

  • not for nothing...but "TJ" is an abusive, arrogant, self-obssessed youtube bully. I've seen his pwnge videos, and his behavior goes beyond what is typically deemed as acceptable behavior. He HAS made phyiscal threats against other users (however, he could argue he was being facetious), and his penchant for namecalling and belittling people is genuinely reprehensible. This guy has crossed the line, and I'm glad youtube won't tolerate his abusiveness and his narcisistically caustic presentations

  • t.j really should have read the policy first when he signed up before he was shut down. You cant try to change the infraction after you were caught doing something wrong. And if he truly believes no infraction was committed, then why write the email, apologizing? My issue with them blocking music in videos, especially when i am not gaining any monetary value from it.

  • they suspended me for good!!

  • LOL

  • The Amazing Atheist is an idiot in my opinion, but yes you are correct in saying that Youtube is out of control with the suspensions and I don't think his account deserved to be suspended.

  • TheAmazingAtheist is an inspiration. Your probably a christian, so of course you would never detect true intelligence in somebody, you stupid, fucking, idiot.

  • Wrong on all accounts Darwin. 1) Not that it is any of your business, but I'm not a Christian, and don't subscribe to organized religion of any kind. 2) If you think TAA is an inspiration, you spend too much time on youtube and obviously don't have a life. Find a real role model, and/or read something substantial other than comic books. 3) You're 13. You're nothing more than a child. I have an MFA and life experience. You have absolutely no place calling anyone else an idiot kid.

  • You have no place telling people that they have no lives. The onternet is my live, IDIOT.

  • Pay attention in school. If the internet is your "life" at the age of 13, I really feel sorry for you as it is apparent that your parents haven't done their job.

  • If you lived in America then you moght know how I feel.

  • I'm well aware of the "American way of life", but that argument is weak. I lived in the United States for almost 20 years. It is no wonder that Americans are the most obese nation of people on Earth, when their children claim the "Internet is my life". Pathetic indeed.

  • There's got to be a better website to upload videos. This is getting ridiculous.

  • I agree youtube should come out with an update TOS however that would require some common sense and that seems to be lacking from youtube management.

  • grfgsvr

  • NewsPoliticsNews got suspended DEMAND net neutrality

  • stop swinging back and forth its driving me crazy

  • I'm gonna get you suspended because you said penal at 2:45!

    jk, 5

  • It only a matter of time till youtube becomes the thought police.

  • That statement is true, but late to the game. You Tube has already BECOME the thought police. If you think about it...just, not to hard. Y.T might arrest you, or worse, suspend you!

  • Awesome Video! We believe YouTube should not be policing videos in the manner they have done so recently. They suspend accounts quite arbitrarily based on an ever changing agenda, not on fairness and equity.

  • It's all about money - and has been since Google bought it.

  • how about the hate videos like kkk, nazi, animal abuse, pornography. Recently youtube has suspended my friend channel with no reason and they give no explanation the youtube. My friend Carlos is a journalist and he lost hundreds of videos. Youtube shoul give a warning notice or 3 strike out.

  • They suspended FAKESAGAN? What in the holy motherfucking hell?

  • newspoliticsnews suspended now wtf

  • AHAHAHAHA BOREDOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your views on this are not objectively correct in this matter.

  • luderandershansen343 said:

"liberalviewers views on this are not objectively correct on this matter"

How so? His views stem from a personal experience. Considering what he dealt with, I'd say he was as objectively fair as is humanly possible. To be anymore so would be sympathetic towards Y.T and thus the video, counter intuitive.

  • I often hear people cry "denial of free speech!" ... on an internet forum owned by a 15 year old.

Free speech is "the right to express any opinion in public without censorship or restraint by the government."

In this case, YouTube is not the government. What is the argument? That is sucks to be censored? Of course. But they have the right to do that. Who's stopping you from buying your own bandwidth?

  • What the hell is wrong with that guy? I'm so mesmorized by him obsessively rocking back and forth like he has a mental problem, I'm too distracted to listen to what the hell he's saying. Does this guy have any mental... "issues"? He doesn't seem umm... "right".

  • No, you're looking for something that isn't there.

  • I hear similar quotes from conservatives saying their videos are being censored as well. But as far as TJ goes that guy is nothing more than a racist douche bag. He's constantly made videos insulting Christians, Christianity and has called another youtuber named KevinCraft a nigger.

  • How is he a douchebag? He uses arguments backed up with facts to argue in what he believes in terms of christianity etc.

And I haven't seen the video, but I highly doubt that he was directly calling him a "nigger", probably he said, "Now, if I called him a nigger, etc"

  • wow u have 1751 new messages

  • Did I miss something, or is the last 24 hours of comments stuffed to the brim with idiocy? I could not even get past the first page

This reminds me of The Arbitor presenting a rational arguement to the inane and immature Chief.

It was recently said that republicanism is straying very close to the rim of cultism, and threads like these make me shudder to think the point may be a valid one.

  • thats your opinion, indoctrinated viewer.

  • hahah i agree, liberal viewer = garbage

  • nope he is a liberal viewer, you are an indoctrinated viewer. you see i believe in free thought

  • Well you're obviously a well-articulated one. Your simian countenance suggests a genetic heritage unusually rich in species diversity.

  • Exercise you're liberties properly or someone else will do it for you and sell the rest you do not have; for profits.

  • Since TJ is so popular, he can make contact with anyone merely by uploading a video that references them. One way or another, that person will find out. However, only certain forms of contact fit the harassment description. TJ's pwnage videos didn't fit any of them.

Btw, if I subscribe to the LiberalViewer, does that make me an honorary liberal?

  • i agree with geeknert4554355. he is completely right.

  • im hoping fat ass liberal viewer gets suspended again. lemme go though his claims and find things i can report to the proper copyright holders.

  • Q2: I'm having a hard time answering that. Mainly because judging just from some of the comments I see day to day on youtube, this site without those guideline would allow a lot of bigoted, ignorant, sexist/racist/---ist people to have free reign on here (Not that they don't already). I think a site like this (forgive me) needs at least some policing. Finding a balance between when to respect an opinion and when to shut someone the fuck up is damned difficult.

  • Yes and very especially YES

  • Youtube is run by a bunch of control freak nazis. If an account breaks the terms of use, I agree you can suspend that person for a given period of time and/or take down the offensive video/content in question. But why should the entire channel be shut down and ppl unable to watch videos that are fine on that channel? Seriously youtube, grow up.

  • lol 1,337 ratings

  • Question 1 yes

    Question 2 YES!

  • LOL You got 1751 private messages!! XDD

    Yeah, fuck Viacom

  • Of course Youtube is unfair. That is a tragic and foreseeable consequence of corporate ownership of a significant public forum.

  • I'm proud on each and every suspended account I'm subbed to.

  • Q1: Only if profitability outweighs loss by public outrage. And consumers need organization and direction to create a caucus to lobby this information to organizations like You Tube, Yahoo, and Facebook.

  • Q2: To state that outright would leave open a loophole for harassment by mob mentality. What if you create a video that becomes a popular internet meme about one person and a mob of people begin to harass that person. That kind of harassment isn't defined in those community rules mentioned but is a creative way around them. And that is just thinking quickly who knows what could develop over time and new technology gets developed.

  • ahh youtube!! am disapointed in you

  • TJ Basically just rocks his body To and Fro.

  • hmm altho the amazing athiest just blab bullshit there is no real reason for him to get banned and by banning him we only make him look righteous u know, plus when they finish with targeting the atheists whos next us the muslims ?

  • You tube is a business and they can do whatever they want with their own website, even if we as a whole do not agree it is their right to do almost whatever they want with their property to some extent.

  • True but considering that it's actually the users that are responsible for YouTube's profit, they should show a little more respect.

  • wow can a liberal be more spoiled? most of youtube are liberals! i can name tons of them

and by the way, I know conservative youtubers who get tons of threats all the time! you lover obama even preaches hate.... "I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face". People were getting in my face in this "wonderful" state Taxachusetts"

  • This video has absolutely nothing, whatsoever, to do with party politics.

  • look at his username for crying out loud, don't tell me that this guy is not one-sided....

  • are you for real, i mean you are being sarcastic right ?

if not then he never made the claim that he "fair and balanced" his name is liberal viewer for crying out loud

  • yeah i know what his name is, but he's one sided... and so is youtube because i know tons of conservatives who get banned

    FUCK THE YOUTUBE POLICE!!!!

  • actually there are a bunch of bunch of videos where he says "I youtube, you decide"

  • Yes, we have the power... Without us, they are damned with no client so...

And it might be better for youtube to not be an opinion police, but they also might want to check insulting video to avoid some legal trouble... It is kind of hard to talk about these polices.

  • I respectfully disagree. YouTube, as a private business entity, should have the right to deny service to anyone who violates the company's terms of service. I personally wish YouTube was either more proactive in eliminating vulgar, explicit, insulting or tasteless videos and comments, or willing to provide a warning that it hosts inappropriate material that is not suitable for all audiences.

  • what is happening though is that others are exploiting the flag and report options for the specific purpose of censoring those opinions they do not like even if the user has done nothing wrong. What's worse is that youtube usually fails to inform the suspended user what video was going against the terms of use.

  • I agree with you. I had some right-wing nutjob sending me comments calling me names and urging me to "kill myself". The harassment went on for weeks. I tried very hard to have him banned and don't even know if her was even suspended. I was not fearful of a creep that has to hide behind his computer to feel tough, but this fool left the most profane, vulgar and racist comments imaginable in his comments and in his mail to me.

  • But...what about his FREEDOM to do so? He should be able to annoy you if he wants!! Haha, I love some of these arguements.

  • Not all speech is merely annoying nor is all speech is protected. (Libel, slander, obscenity etc.) One does not have the right to threaten. Youtube is well within its right to protect, to the extent that it can, people against hate speech or speech or comments that threaten etc.,

  • I believe that freedom of speech is not an absolute or unfettered right. Limitations have been placed on speech (i.e., displays of pornagraphy, libel, slander, public safety) and rightfully so. Further, I do not believe that anyone has the freedom, or the right, to annoy another person. That is harassment and in many cases it is illegal, at least in the offline, real world.

  • Solotripper66: "I do not believe that anyone has the freedom, or the right, to annoy another person"

A lot of things people say on Youtube/The Net annoy me, but being annoyed is not actionable. Just cuz your feelings get hurt, doesn't mean it's harassment and subject to punishment. Differing opinions (however mean spirited they may be) lead people to more rational decision making. One forced opinion without open discussion is called fascism.

  • You are correct...I could have phrased that better and used harass instead of annoy, but I was trying to import the meaning of the post to which I was responding.

Of course I don't believe that opinions, speeches or discourse that are subjectively annoying are actionable. However, I do believe that harassment is - and should be. One does not have the right to verbally assault another person on the street, and the same should be true online.

  • " One does not have the right to verbally assault another person on the street" The term "Verbal Assault" is not used for online forums and is usually coupled with violent acts. One has to show that they are in fear of actual harm. Stating a dissenting opinion on an open forum is not harassment...even if you call the person names or whatever. Continually sending threatening emails to them may be harassment, though. If you don't want to hear others opinions, don't play in an open forum!

  • Once again, I agree with you. I am not talking about dissenting opinions. I am referring to specific acts of harassment (emailing or posting death threats or threats of violence, for example). I think most rational people would equate such behavior with a verbal assault.

I do disagree with the idea that any place on the internet is a strictly open forum. YouTube is a private entity, its site private property, and they should have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

  • "YouTube is a private entity...right to refuse service to anyone for any reason."

Agreed. However, having seen a lot of The Amazing Atheists vids, I feel comfortable saying that he is crass, rude and obnoxious, but he never threatens real violence upon people or emails them personally.. He just tells them why he thinks they are a *&%$#. I guess Youtube can kick you off for that if they want, but I've seen FAR worse videos than his that don't get booted. Censorship is not good for biz.

  • "Censorship is not good for biz."

I agree with you completely, and my original comment to which you responded was not about the Amazing Atheist, so I should have been clear on that point.

I do have a problem with defining YouTube's deletion of material as censorship. Censorship implies a government ban, which I generally do not support. However, a private entity choosing to delete certain online material is not censorship because there are a vast number of other forums available.

  • Sorry...hard to make a point with limited character allotment ;-)

My point is that even if YouTube deletes certain videos or suspends certain users, there are other places available for the deleted material. Thus, YouTube (or Yahoo or AOL, etc) is unable to actually censor (i.e., ban) anything. The most they can do is decide that it will not be available on their site.

  • Actually, a government ban on material is "government censorship." YouTube's deletion of material is just ordinary run-of-the-mill censorship.

  • You're stupid. STFU. That is all.

  • Censorship is only ok when it comes from the Left. So, take it out of reverse smiley!

  • No, you're just retarded. You obviously believe what the fuck ever people tell you.

On an unrelated subject, would you like to buy some magic beans?

  • Censorship is censorship pinhead. I'm holding my birth certificate literally in my hand this second! Why can't the "messiah" Barak Obama make his original long form birth certificate public instead of posting via Youtube a "Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth" which proves nothing! He can't produce it because he is a Kenyan born fraud. And he is the kind of fraud you lefties love. So who is really retarded here smiley.

  • Your uneducated argument itself and stupid George Bush like nicknames have refuted any point you may have had. If Ignorance is the only evil, you sir, are the ruler of the Underworld.

Have a nice day you knuckle dragging inbred redneck retard.

  • Uneducated? Blah, blah...! You have been spellbound by the Kenyan "citizen of the world". The messiah commands "Do my bidding drone."

  • One final thing. If you were really concerned about censorship, then you would be more frighten of the possibility that someone holding the most powerful office in the world may just actually be in the position fraudulenty. And, that he is censoring everyone from seeing the proof that he is legitimate. No! No! No! Your concerned about this piss ant little Youtube video and how the big bad Youtube is somehow censoring you. Well LOL! You are the fool.

  • Take your conspiracy theories and die. Nutter.

  • I believe we should be more worried about the violations against our constitutional amendments by our government officials. Yet we still suffer injustices so, no, we cannot persuade anyone.

Having said that, I respect the free market enough to believe that youtube should have the right to run their business anyway they choose.. The govt shouldn't have that right.

  • I find this so stupid. Sorry, but anyone who says private businesses have "rights" that government shouldn't have I just can't take it seriously.

  • I believe they should. Should our government have the "right" to move to, say, France if they wanted to?

On the other hand, should a business be able to move to France if there is a market there?

  • mbast, How can you even say that? The government is over all of us while in my business I should be able to run it like I want to. If I have a bar and I want to allow people to smoke cigarettes then it is my right as the owner to do that and non smokers can accept this or leave. Would you have the govt own my business for me? The govt shouldn't run like this though because it is its job to consider all people because the people are supposed to own the country, not the govt.

  • Fairly easily. I think it's true. Why "should" you be able to run it as you like, or to invent "rights" (such as to allow people to violate the law)? No, the government shouldn't run businesses, but neither should those businesses be above the law. You use a lot of "shoulds" but it seems to be all magical thinking. "I don't like x, so it shouldn't exist". Sorry, I just don't take that too seriously.

  • This is sort of missing the point...the government practices that theory all the time. Money talks in both the courts and the legislature, and the ones in power are nothing more than legalized criminals themselves. Witness the Congressman who was hitting on Congressional pages- underage boys, no less!! Child molesters in government- now THAT'S fuckin' scary!

  • In NO way do I think government or the people in it ought to be above the law. The problem I have is with people who say government is evil, everything it does is wrong, but that anything business does is right. It's a mindset I don't think is realistic or adult.

  • True enough. Share the wealth a bit more, as it were. And no, I don't think EVERYTHING that comes out of the halls of power is bad, but lately, the politicos have gotten awfully out of touch with the so-called common folk.
