  • These two never fail to make me smile. I wish I grew up with TV like this. Glad to know she was in on the joke. Goodnight Elva. Wherever you are.

  • I'm laughing now they must have been pissing themselves when this was first aired back in the 60's.. Snozzle was never better

  • We need more Mrs. Elva Miller songs. Thank you America.

  • Thanks for posting this. This is classic !

  • Mrs. Miller was doing operatic campy versions of pop songs of the late 60s that were almost as funny as Tiny Tim.

  • Thanks for this! It sure brings back good memories. "Good night Mrs. Calabash where ever you are."

  • Durante's show when Helen Traubel was his guest is matchless! If anyone can find these gems and put them on You Tube, you'll be cannonized. Superhartline

  • She's giving a well-endowed ghost a hand job.

  • They are both clearly enjoying themselves and each other. I hope Mrs. Miller wasn't hurt when she realized people were laughing AT her, not laughing WITH her.

  • @sophelet She's singing Inky Dinky Doo in an operatic voice. Even she can't take herself THAT seriously.

  • @sophelet I feel more were laughing with her.

  • Thumbs up if you were waiting for the piano to collapse.

  • How fabulous! What a wonderful job!

  • Thank you so much for this! What a day brightening combination -- the beloved Durante, the ... um, UNIQUE Mrs. Miller, and a wonderful old song! Great stuff!

  • I rember watching this show.....Gosh I feel old.....lol......Tks for the blast from the past..

  • superb!Thought the piano might collapse !

  • ha cha cha cha

  • Inka Dinka Do + Spedoinkle Day = Inky Dinky Doo Da Morning.

  • Susan Boyle's mother?

  • Ha looks like the whole thing was so out of place, like she sang it that way since it was like a totally different style or whatever.

  • I always knew Freddy Krueger could sing.

  • Mrs Miller is an all american piece of Americana but was quickly dumped when she wanted to try to actually record some real songs and not just do the comedy routines and recordings...She gave us all great laughs--and it couldnt be known that she was in on it--or it would have ruined it if people knew they were essentially comedy records and routines. Thus she was dumped because people instead ---felt sorry for her...

  • @phantomvibrationsX Dump. Humpty Dumpty. Elvis.

  • @phantomvibrationsX To the contrary, in the beginning of her career Mrs. Miller took herself completely seriously. It was only the marketeers that placed her in the role of comedian, and she bitterly complained that her producers ensured a musically-rotten outcome by recording her when she was exhausted or before she could adequately learn the material. Regardless, it is a fact that her strange combination of circumstance sold over a half a million records.

  • The grand old days of true and honest entertainment. Sadly those days have gone and what we ahve now is load of drug fuled foul mouthed idiotos who make millions of dollars and in five minutes time they are history. The memories of Jimmy Durante , Bing Crosby etc will live on long after these drug crazed rehabilitated twits are dead a buried.

  • @steinwaygrande1 Poppies. That's what George Bush younger called George Bush the elder. Poppy.

  • Ah, Durante - what a gentleman and a good sport!

  • I just realized that Mrs. Miller was the first "reality star' of t.v., i.e., an ordinary person who performed on tv and became famous for nothing.

  • Ahhh, the 1960's was a great time!

  • Jimmy and Mrs. Miller are surely entertaining the Angel's and Saints in Heaven right now!

  • Originally aired (in color) on December 10, 1966. At the time, Mrs. Miller was filming her appearance in Warner Bros. "The Cool Ones" (with Debbie Watson, Gil Peterson, Phil Harris and Roddy McDowall), released in April 1967...and a box office flop.

  • whoever put this video up is an idiot, the song is called "Inka Dinka Do" not "inky Dinky Doo" you uneducated goof! wise up! dont be disrespectin Jimmy D!

  • @MennoStoner Does it really matter?? No, not really..

  • @MennoStoner

    actually it is

    INK ADINK ADOO

  • I have a completely platonic fondness for the late, great Jimmy Durante.

  • thanks so much for posting this. exactly what i was looking for (& more)

  • I remember Michael J. Fox singing this in the movie Greedy haha!

  • That´s pure entertainment!

  • Great post. I didn't remember JD playing the piano. He had great timing, great pizzazz. Thanks for the exquisite post. I was laughing and nearly got thrown out of the Denver University library because of you! GREAT Post.

  • Thats not a banana its my nose HA HA

  • it's a delectable keening of the banshee...

  • William Huang owes her ...

  • Dat was wunnerful! Ha-cha-cha-cha-cha!

  • This is so kewt!! Just a lotta fun! :-)

  • Few people can sit upon a piano as to the manner born. Mrs Miller did so with grace, charm and aplomb. Only a very few things stood between her and vocal greatness, but accurate pitch and a sense of rhythm are, after all, not everything. What a great lady of the entertainment world, one who gave pleasure unstintingly.

  • I meant to give this comment a "thumbs up," and accidentally clicked the "thumbs down" icon. Sorry. This was a truly gracious statement, and I agree wholeheartedly with you!

  • Thank you for your kind message. I am relieved indeed to find that I am not the only person who has trouble with my buttons. I often click on or twiddle the wrong one.

Mrs Miller's dignified manner reminds me vividly of that of Great Britain's answer to Emily Post, the remarkable Mrs Hyacinth Bucket.

  • @rupepill ..That is exactly who I hear when she sings!

  • @creatornat Good on you, cobber! I have always clung to the hope that, some day, kind and perceptive people eventually would agree with something I thought, said and/or wrote.

We might liaise with cornellcrawford on the possibility of forming a Mrs Miller You Tube Fan Club?

  • Totally unique - divine!

  • Thanx for this. She's a one-off original. Many have tried but never equaled her. CHEERS!

  • This women kills me i almost crashed my car once listening to her on a tape wonderful my ribs hurt. thanks for this.

  • Sorry Mrs Miller, you look like a jolly lady but that vibrato is really horrible.

  • Um, yeah. That was part of the joke.

  • May I help you on top o' the pianna?

  • Does anyone remember or have the Good Night Song Mr Durante did where he says good night in several different languages in the song??? Please?

  • OMG precious! this makes me so happy.

  • There will never in the history of history be a better duet than that. One of a kind for the 2 of them. Thank you for posting this. You, Jimmy and Elva ROCK!!!

  • Who the hell is Sarah Jessica Parker? I came here to see the famous Mrs. Miller.

  • For some reason, I always think of Sarah Jessica Parker when I hear this song.

  • That explains William Hung...

  • ROFL! thanks for sharing

  • i dated mrs. Miller as a young man. I have photos for you!!!

  • post the photos man! lol

  • I first need to get permission from the estate. She was a beautiful thing, you see. It's hard to think she has been gone for so many years. One thing i'll tell ya...she was a looker.

  • you crack me up!! she sure was ;)

  • You have to check her out on the internet. Apparently, she made an album--sold 750,000 records! Everybody knew she was awful--that's why she became a big hit. I didn't think they had an odd sense of humor back then--but i guess i was wrong! Listen to recordings from her Greatest Hits!! Awful---Dame Edna before her time!! Cheers!

  • to durantenoseshnozola who didn't know they had such an odd sense of humor back then, they did and even way before then. Look up Florence Foster Jenkins here on youtube or on Wikipedia.

She goes back to the early 1900's.

  • Thanks for sharing the information. I'll check it out.

  • "and is used with their permission"

Oh, it is not. They both died years before Youtube came around!

  • Mrs. Miller looks like my FACE teacher -_-;;
