Great keyboard, playing, and patch/sound effects. How should I decide between the Korg M3, Pa2x Pro, or the Tyros 3? They all seem very powerful. I'm particularly interested in the accompaniment features and less so the workstation aspect of it. Interested in contemporary and spacey sounds. Thx for any opinions.
Karma uses MIDI to 'play notes for you'. For example if you press a C, Karma could play an arpeggio starting and ending on C. This is a very simplified explanation. Probably best to google it. There is a very good Karma site run by it's designer Stephen Kay.
i heard its wayyy deeper than an arpegiator. nice demo tho man, im thinkin of savin up for the 73-key board. do u know the difference between getting the radias chip compared to the rack module?
KARMA is an acronym for Kay Algorithmic Realtime Music Architecture, developed by Stephen Kay of Karma Labs, and licensed to Korg Corporation for use in the Korg KARMA, OASYS, and M3 workstation models. The second-generation of this technology was introduced in the long-awaited OASYS model (google it, it was $8,000 MAP [streeet price] for a reason).
KARMA uses algorithms to randomize over 4,000 Generated Effects, or GE's, adding "flavor" to the music, in essence. Google for more info
You may have seen on my other videos that I have a standalone Radias as well as the EXB-Radias. My keyboard has 61 keys. If you buy the 73 key version the Radias will fit next to the M3 module. However the 73 key version is a lot more expensive than the 61 version. Althought they both have the same synthesis engine, they both seem very different in use. The internal expansion blends very easily into the M3 and drums and Karma are included.
I probably don't know enough about them to make a proper comparison and there are very few common sounds. Given the choice, I would keep the expansion and not buy the standalone. But, perhaps thats just me. It's nice to have both but I never use the standalone version!
space is not a problem since i have the full size with like 80 something keys.....but the exb seems easier...maybe i can find something better to rack next to the m3 module
Yes, amazing isn't it? Each sound has pre programmed drums and Karma and the pads are basically pre programmed chords. You can easily program your own chords. Of course, drums and Karma can also be changed.
The module can be in one of 2 positions. Mine is in the up position. The other one is flat with the keys.
It's also a 2 minute job to remove the module and just use it as a control box with any MIDI keyboard.
When it's mounted like this it uses a special cable to connect to the keys to allow the joystick and switches to work. It also means the MIDI IN on the module is available to connect another keyboard.
Question: Is that pad at the beginning Internal? Or is that coming from the RADIAS?

@ORUPRANKSTAZ Hi. It's coming from the Radias card inside the M3. You need the Radias expansion to play all these sounds on this video.

would it be better just to get the radias module and set it next to the m3? or is the exp as good as it gets?

Is it really that easy? You just set the sound and push the pads, push to add drums, push to add karma?

Thank's for posting. It's great to see new demos for the M3 especially ones showing the EXB-Radias with Karma applied.

Thanks for commenting. I've added some notes as it plays so that people know which sounds I'm using.
All these sounds are from the EXB-Radias.
Do you want more? Anything in particular?
