In the book it does show family values. So far kids,Black, White, Asian etc. seem to enjoy the book.
Don't be so quick to judge an entire race. Take a minute to read this book. Don't be so quick to put a black kid down, some may have only one parent not always through a fault of their own.
Very nice, actually teaches kids to go read a book. Unlike the moive this is a response to, this is a good way to get kids to learn to read, without teaching them swears, and racial slurs.

Sorry, that's not going to get black kids to read and be successful. Some parenting and maybe a father present sometimes usually helps.
