Swearing on the Bible in court was never about religion, it was about honor. The concept of defending one's personal honor was a very real thing at the time the Constitution was written. A person who gave his word to tell the truth risked losing his honor if he was caught lying in court.

I think a lot of people get God mixed up with Religion; the two things may not necessarily be connected.

George Carlin was a great comedian. If not the best at least one of the best. If you take his opinion and his jokes to heart and let them persuade your choices be it politically, religiously or get into your head beyond the "funnyman" he was you really need to sit down and reevaluate yourself.
He speaks the truth. For me, I do not follow anyone blindly, but everything this man states I essentially can agree with or at least touch base with. Religion is false and has been used since it's inception to control huge masses of people. It may not have intentionally started that way but religion, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism mainly, are poisonous to the mind, and instills a submissive and passive ideal which leads to robotic lifestyles and ignorance.

Swearing on the Bible in court was never about religion, it was about honor. The concept of defending one's personal honor was a very real thing at the time the Constitution was written. A person who gave his word to tell the truth risked losing his honor if he was caught lying in court.

I think a lot of people get God mixed up with Religion; the two things may not necessarily be connected.
You have many "Christian" Religions, Catholics, Protestants, Jesus Christ Church of Latter day Saints (Mormons), Lutheran, Baptist, etcetera; Now my question hear is if you have all these and more "Christian" religions, all based on the Bible. @yoyoshi36 Yes, I would burn in hell and endure pain, suffering, crying, and screaming to defy the christian god. I would never stone a man for loving another man; it is his right as a free individual to do so, and no man should be punished for that. I would not put my daughter to death for leaving the house on her period. If your god exists, he would strike me dead now. But he won't do it. Why? Because he doesn't dare. He doesn't exist and he doesn't dare if he does.

@RainxDog so far that not even the smartest men in the world couldn't understand his simplest works... Don't under estimate God thinking that you "found" something that God did wrong. Your no better than the Pharasise trying to trap Jesus so that he may make a mistake. RainxDog. really be careful for what you ask for... you don't even know....

@TheRyowyn sorry it was Hard to find the comment, but That quote is stating that the god who is "just" will accept anything you do no matter what and that you just have to live a life of certain expectations to be able to please me. and after you do that you can do whatever you want.

@TheRyowyn doesn't matter to you. the only thing that matters to you is praise God because God provides the exact amount you need to still live in the life, but you will be so happy that you don't care what he gives you because you want to be with him... and with that joy and happiness all you want to do is let the whole world "look at this guys, i found something that will never let you down, never leave you and will always keep you happy"
