As a boy, I once had a picture book showing Little Black Sambo as an Indian--he wore a turban and had these curl-toed shoes which only makes sense in that tigers appear in the story. I still have a storybook from when I was little boy that shows Aladdin as Chinese and the city in which he lives is clearly in China. As for Sambo, Kipling wrote the story and he lived in India not Africa.

@StTigray1 What info? About Aladdin being Chinese? Read the story--it's part of the Arabian Nights. I also checked Wikipedia and they mention it there too. I still have a storybook from when I was little boy that shows Aladdin as Chinese and the city in which he lives is clearly in China. As for Sambo, Kipling wrote the story and he lived in India not Africa.

@StTigray1 I would prefer Hollywood exclude Asians altogether because their treatment of Asian issues is so patronizing and insulting that I can't stand it. I'd rather not see Asians at all than to see them treated in Hollywood's condescending, racist fashion. That's why I only watch movies not made in Hollywood. Hollywood is only about money. India borders China, Tibet, Burma to the East, so it is an Asian country. And so are countries like Iran which is far to the West but still in Asia.
Also, there are far more East Asian looking people living in India then there are in the US. Some 40 million people in India speak Tibet-Burman languages, not to mention others who speak Indo-European but have some East Asian in their blood. However, they are not East Asian in the sense that they have been in India for thousands of years.

haha yeah, i actually noticed that to when i lived in california. i wonder where that came from. i mean, alot of koreans dont like the japanese for a reason (occupation) but Filipinos and Vietnamese never did anything to eachother historically. i dont notice it as much in seattle. i work with alot of viets and we get along just fine.

@charlies550 Actually filipinos fought back to spain and established the very first democratic country in Asia. For the naming issue. There are talks that the Philippine name will be change however its still being considered. Here are the lists. Maharlika (meaning noble), Bathala (it's the name of the Ancient tagalog god of the sky) and the last is Rajah(pronounced Raha) (is the title being used in Ancient Philippines as rulers and leaders of the island of Luzon)

In the UK, Indians are called Asians while East Asians are referred to by their country specific titles such as Chinese, Japanese, etc. However, everyone from the Middle East right down to Indonesia in the very Fareast are Asian.
