  • Hi. I noticed the drum used in the video is missing the requisite gaskets under the lugs. Is this something Drum Center did, or is the drum an earlier model? Thanks!

  • @eturkreenz This video was done before they started put them on.

    Tony

  • Do you guys use a compressor at all? Most of your videos seem as if the snares are a bit dead? Not trying to be mean just something I noticed. However it could just be my speakers.

  • @information94 The only compression is a touch for peak limiting. It's barely hitting the compressor at all.

    Tony

  • nicko mcbrain uses this snare!!!!

  • @maidenforce666 i met that guy :P

  • @DrummerStuffable you're very lucky, where did you met him???

  • @maidenforce666 he did a clinic tour in the UK, so at the tiny village of Bo'ness, I got to meet the man himself, signed snare and poster, i was kind of starstruck though, maybe if i meet him again it will be different :P

  • @DrummerStuffable lucky man..... :)

  • i own this its pretty amazing

  • can someone tell me what the purpose is for the rubber washers

  • hello shane excuse me could you do a demostration of the shawn drover ddrum aluminum snare??? greeteengs from mexico city. take care.

  • @snakeboy66687 Sorry we aren't a Ddrum dealer.

    Tony

  • nice to show different tuning

  • @informedcarpet he probably didnt tune it right besides it is one of the best snare drums ever made

  • Sounds like shit.

  • Nice video, I'm buying one soon. One question - what kind of snare and kit is used in the beginning?

  • @DoctorCameo Great! I have them in stock. Let me know when you would like to order it. The drum in the intro is a Dunnett Stainless.

  • @DrumCenterNH

    Do you ship to Sweden?

  • @DoctorCameo Yes we do, email us directly for price and shipping amount, info at drumcenternh dot

  • how are the overtones for this snare?

  • I have one that drum and everything he said is true. It rules! I use a controlled sound batter and a ambassador hazy on the bottom. unfortunately I don't have the original wires so I use Puresound customs. If you find one of these, buy it. it's worth it.

  • JOHN BONHAM!

  • good drum

  • hi, nice video.

what kind of head do you use in this video?

    resonant and batter please (:

    Thanks (:

  • @budinas Hi - The heads used are the stock heads that Ludwig ships with each drum

  • Yeah, Great!! I got mine around '79 and still playing it. the only thing I have to watch is that a couple of the lugs get slack with heavy playing -but got some nylon washers on top hoop now which helps a lot. I'm also looking into getting a P86 strainer.

  • Hola como estas? Dude that's a huge snare btw...nice videos.

  • Wicked snare, im pretty sure this is the snare that Nicko McBrain uses, love the sound he has on Brave New World =D

  • @169545 He uses a Premier signature snare drum.

  • @zepedrorock nope, he uses 14x6.5" Ludwig LM402 Snare Drum.

  • @punkerband73 he may use a premier snare now as i heard that he auctioned his ludwig one off for some reason, but i know for a fact that he used one up to and including brave new world

  • Is there much of a difference between this and the Ludwig Legacy Classic 6.5 x 14 snare?

  • damn ... thats awesome

  • pero que buen sonido que tiene ese tacho, me gustaria tener uno. salud2

    PD: How much that snare?

  • every tuning sounds spectaular :D!! my dream snare drum :D!!

  • Thanks a lot for the vids, im between this and the carey snare, i like rock and metal mainly, which would u recommend?

  • @ricardoieci for rock or metal go with the danny carey snare, its amazing for stuff like that

  • this is my Ludwig Supraphonic Snare Drum 6.5x14 1984

  • Ludwig 402 400 and black beauty are the fuckin best snares ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not enough "pop" to it, needs more attack, thats my opinion

  • I really like the medium tuning. Could you tell how tight are the batter and resonant heads ?

  • I have one. It rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Folks

    bought my Supraphonic in 1979.

Still working, pickled like it has to be.

Bought a new on as a alternative when other drummers are playing over my set.

My Supraphonic is very high and with very low spirals so it sounds near to a timbale.

Had a Mapex snare as alternative, got Pete Phipps playing over it and now I use it as a lamp. Was broken.

That NEVER happens with a Supraphonic.

  • Got this for christmas. BEST SNARE. Throw on a genera hd dry and bam, best crack sound i've ever got from a snare. next up, brass on brass black beauty!

  • Gutan Tag, ich Möchte ein Snare trommel

  • Wirklich? Or are you just speaking German to look cool?

  • yes really i was speaking deutsch to look cool, haha... ich bin in Deutsch eins in High School..... woher kommst du?

  • @DrumCenterNH Translation : Hi, I´m from Argentina and I´d like to buy some ludwig kit you got there, is that possible? Need information. Thanks a lot

Gracias igual!

  • These videos are a Godsend! I can remember looking at drum catalogs as far back as 1977. It was frustrating trying to imagine what drums and cymbals sounded like. These video demos are the absolute next best thing to trying them in person, which isn't always an option. It's far better than any written review could possibly be!

  • Thanks, man. This was our hope in creating these videos. If you keep watching them, we'll keep making them!

  • best thing about your videos, youre so enthused! man i wish there was a guy like you at my local store!

  • i just bought the suprphonic! worth every penny!

  • What you'll find is a deeper pocket in your down beat. It doesn't have any thing to do with volume- more for tone. I would definitely go with the 6.5

  • What exactly am I going to find different between 6.5'' and 5''. Why are vintage supras so sought after and what would be different between that and the new drum? I plan to get myself a new christmas gift and need some advice!

  • I tune the bottom head very tight, then keep the wires at medium tension. Thanks guys!

  • hi..loving the vids!..i actually prefer the tuning on the lower range. how tight are your batter and resonant heads to achieve that sound?

  • It's a P 86 and a Ludwig medium coated head.

  • Does`nt sound that different from my COB and BB.

  • which drum head ?

  • Great video. That throw off looks like a P-86. Is that right?
