I have always loved Sting, but it seems like this vid, as well as the "official", has joined ranks with all the others (boring/confusing). I'd love to see it played out in Medieval times or even with an Arabian Nights theme. This is def one of my favorite songs:)

Reminds me, vaguely, of some horror story about a cat accidentally getting shut in the front-loading washing machine on the tumble cycle. Or, a mime's trapped in a box routine. Very inspired, I can't say I have seen anything quite like it. Is he claustrophobic?? Thanks for the vid post.... IT'S AWESOME ! This song SHOULD HAVE BEEN a bigger hit than it was. I toyed with it in a studio for a while (using plenty o' digital magic, OF COURSE!) Made myself a mix with Dominic's guitar work pumped up and it makes a WORLD of difference. Also toned down the percussion and h.c. ... that helped too.

This is the original video (with the original version) of the song. The VH1 version of the video is terrible, but this is amazing. Do you know what the video means? I think there is no consistency betwen song and video... He talks about a love story, a thief and a princess, but in video there are many hands and a strange scenario where Sting makes athletic movements. What it means?

The song is about betrayal; an exotic stranger who seduces and then vanishes. It's lust vs. love and how its easy to mistake one for the other. But true love can heal all the previous betrayals. Sting experiences contortions of the human heart in that chamber and walks the gauntlet of lust vs. love. We've all been betrayed before!! Part of the human condition. In the VH1 video, Sting warned the women so that they were all gone when the betraying guys finally broke down the door. Its anti-male

LOL very personal interpretation; just went through a breakup where I was betrayed though I take responsibility for mistaking lust for love on my end. On related topic Sting explored other dangers of the heart in "Fortress around Your Heart". But if you're not ready for "Rain" and the growth and hope it implies and just want to indulge in feeling sorry for yourself for awhile, try "Lonesome Day" by Springsteen" or "Tears Dry on Their Own" Amy Winehouse
