  • Review Shodowgate on NES

  • does this game work at all on the ps2 or did i just acceidently get one not programed for ps2's in the US? because well its a hard game to find and i had to get it from over sea's

  • @LucifersArms666 You probably got one that had a different region code. Much like with DVDs, video games have their own regions.

I can't remember which is which, but I think PAL is the european one.

  • @ELREndLondonRule thats what i figured i just dont think ive ever played it on ps2 cause my mom owns both of them and at the time my step dad had a ps1 and he sold it to my dad like 13 years ago or more and me and him just threw it out. so iwasnt sure uk if it was the regioun thing or a program thing. thanks though for the useful information

  • @LucifersArms666 If that was 13 years and more ago, does your present contribution show you are retarded or you have been in some magical stasissince the age of ten?

  • @Saiaton what the fuck are you talking about?

  • Full motion video? I dont think so.

  • I love them making fun of the Lethal Weapon movies in the opening.

  • rare and disgusting

  • best game EVER <3

  • Its supposed to be challenging, its never 'pointless' and Rincewind gets to make good jokes about the plot

  • God I used to play this game as a kid. I loved it.

  • love this game....actually I think I am going to get my cd's from the shelf....dust them off ...make ISO's and run it on DOS Box :-)

  • Casanunda's in this?!? Awesome :D

  • Was that rincewind from the books? O.O

  • yea

  • the dude operating the camera is a mental patient... or stuck in an earthquake

  • or non-exsistent, seein as its animated an' all

  • you can certainly download this type of thing, but I have no idea how to get DOS based games like this and the first sam and max game to run on vista :S

  • As far as Sam & Max goes, you can play this and most other LucasArts adventure games, and some others, using ScummVm. As far as Discworld goes, you can play this using DosBox. If you don't have a knowledge of how to use DosBox, I strongly suggest getting D-fend Reloaded. It's a front end for DosBox. Frankly, ScummVm works much better for the games it does support, but Discworld isn't on the list. They've been trying to get the source code to Discworld unsuccesfully for about 4 years to no avail.

  • wow, thank you for such a detailed explanation, I'll be sure to get that working soon then :D

  • It appears that I'm a few days off. Apparently in the last few days, ScummVm started supporting Discworld 1 and 2. If you go to the Scumm site, there will be an article about this on the front page.

  • fantastic! thanks for the update :D

  • @Highstar25

Try the playstation version with emulator (epsxe)

  • "at least the animation budget increased"!!!! great game and not as difficult as the first one

  • buts thats the point, you have to figure it out

  • Challenging is the point of the game.

  • Did that guy just knock Republicans..?

  • oh i love terry pratchett! my partner still has the games and i read the books. I just recently got the new film the colour of magic but i think the hogfather was funnier.

I love the begining of discworld 2 because it takes its start off leathel weapon XD!..grab the cat!

  • Ook!

  • Discworld, like, by Terry Pratchett?

  • Yes.

It is debatable however as to how faithful the games are to the books. I like to think of the games more as one persons interpretation of Discworld instead of nitpicking little details.

Both are funny little adventures, and I recommend it to anyone who likes games like Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Sam & Max, etc.

  • does anyone know where i might get this game?

  • demonoid or mininova...

  • well I was hoping for somewhere I could get an actual disc. Any that I've found on the internet haven't worked for XP (despite specifically saying they would)

  • try one of them old second hand game shops then.i dont know what shops to suggest tho, but with any luc theres a copy some where near u XD

  • I looked on Ebay but all the ones that are an actual disc are like £39.99 saying its rare. =\

  • well thats way to much for a game this old... try a second hand game store like game traders. they r good at tracking down old games like this but that might cost you as much as the ones on ebay. but if worst come to worst. get a freind of your who knows alot about computer and he might be able to dowqnload this for you...

  • Holy - ! Discworld games? I thought the books were enough! I have to look into this.

  • It's Monty Python.

    Not Monty Py-THON.

  • yanks mate

  • It gets on my nerves too. sigh.

  • any one know if DW2 works on windows xp?

  • it does but you have to download a program called DOSBOX for it to work. Very worth it.

  • ok that for the tip dude :P

  • Used to love this game as a kid

  • I remember when you had to bite the rat with the vampires teeth..

  • such a great game

  • one of the best adventure games!!!

  • Never played this game sadly, but Eric Idle's voice seems too....upbeat for the part of a natural coward.

  • i like in the "gaming in the clinton years" tag

  • I liked Eric Idle's performance (he's got a great voice). The humour is very English (although I've never read a Discworld book, I know Prachett has a quirky sense of humour), sometimes it's a bit flat (some conversations and speeches go on far too long), but mostly it's reasonably amusing and enough to keep things going. The variety of character voices is impressive considering there's only 3 actors apart from Idle (Nigel Planer, Rob Brydon and Kate Robbins)

  • very BRITISH not very ENGLISH! England is a part of Britain you know.

  • Yes, but England, Scotland and Wales all have very differanty humour, so yes, Pratchett's humour IS very English

  • There are a good few differances in our humour, I've often been lost by my Scottish and Welsh friends jokes and they often by mine

  • Its regional differences not country wide differences, I have seen people from the South of England not understand jokes from cental England or Northern England etc.

But the general sense of humour is the same, hence the term British comedy.

  • Nice game in general, but I couldn't stand Eric Idle's performance of Rincewind, the insane number of fetch quests got old VERY quickly, and there were way to many jokes which refered to the game as being a game.

  • awesome game, i think it's as good as monkey island, but thanks to the discworld setting even stranger and well, difficult to describe, just VERY unique game

  • It's a brilliant game, sometimes near to impossible... but oh so brilliant.

  • "Kinda like MYST but with humor"

    Hardly

This game is an adventure game like MYST but that's where it ends...the humor, graphics, and gameplay resembles most LUCASARTS adventure titles.

  • I got stuck when I did something out of sequence in Death's house and I couldn't progress. I was near the end of the game! So upsetting!

  • we used to own this game and i loved it so much and then it got scratched. It started for me the other day, but it only got to the point where the shed blows up and then it froze. I was SO upset. The first one went missing on the side of the road (long story) what a pity.

  • I loved this game

  • fucking sweet games
