  • Can you make music Like Tiesto with Express or do you pro?

  • Can you import samples ?

  • when i put loops in the "bar" i try to play them but there's no sound...this is driving me crazy, i have no idea how to do anything

  • @ghettocumquats Check if the track is muted......if that's not the case, check your preferences and make sure Logic is set to give sound to the proper output

  • Hello JH and thank-you for these tutorials! I'm just going on to part III now :)

  • I have a problem here. When I record my guitar, the program gets the signal for it, but it doens't produce audio when I play it. What could be the reason for this? :D

  • @LithuanianGuitar ...monitor on.

  • @TheNEWBobDylan What do you mean?

  • is there any difference between logic express 9 and logic pro 9??? they both have the same stuff

  • how do you get that loops??

  • i only got the left side of the loops, the right side with guitars and all drums only works sometimes.. please help! am i pressing something to turn them off or what?

  • I am new to logic and I am a DJ. I will mainly be using this to edit songs in my library and creating multi track mixes of them. Do you already have any videos on how to get started doing that or can you tell me where I might find specific help for these areas. I mainly need to know how to cut sections out of tracks, fade one to another and how to mix them all down to 1 track. Thank you.

  • Thanks a lot. It's clear and easy to understand. I Love You...I really am^^.

  • how'd you get that red circle to ripple upon every push of your mouse? i have seen it many times before, but could never find out how to do it... Thanks for the tutorials!

  • i tried putting in these loops and when i tried to play it back to see what i made nothing played... am i doing somethign wrong?

  • Excellent Tutorials mate. I'm with Protools at the moment but may give Logic a go! Does Logic have ADC ( Automatic Delay Compensation)? Also any Softsynth V.I's in express?

    Cheers

  • can u teach us how to use the autotune without giving it that fake sound?

  • Your tutorials are very helpful for me as a very beginner of Logic Express :) !

I have a question for the loop session that if it automatically modifies the tempo or the beats of the loop to match with other ones and the whole audio project we're working on? 2 favorite loops putting together but not same tempo would create so funny sound :) .

  • Hey again. I guess I'll just create a monitor mix by routing whatever I want in it to a bus on the mixer. But how can I make sure it comes out the headphone output and not the main output? I hope you get what I mean. And how can I make sure that the click is on there as well?

  • does this have like the built-in mixer?

  • when i try and put loops in it comes up on the bars and all that but when i press play there is no sound???? please help. also the first global track sais it is an elec piano for some random reason???????

  • For some reason I don't have any guitar loops in my program or any other instrument specific loops; though, i do have the other loops. why is that?

  • @pagesprotege1 hi just wonderin did you ever figure that problem out im havin the same one now lol

  • this is insane when you think about what your getting for the price it makes my head explode

  • Jonathon, thanks for the stuff.

Can you go over (from start to finish, leaving NOTHING out) how to lay a guitar track.

Then sequence a drum track. I think the stuff about automation, loops, plug ins, mixing is all great, but I have problems just setting up everything to record real instruments with my presonus interface.

  • I have decided now!

    you´re helping Jonathan!

    thanks

  • Nice work Jonathan! Very insightful...

  • can you make your own stuff in this program, your not just putting loops together that someone else has made. No creativity involved in that

  • @HarryBlufc91 thats what I'm thinking too.. I want to make my own drums and stuff doing premade loops is stupid...

  • @TheFreshCommunity You can make all of your own drum, guitar, bass guitar, vocals, and any other instrument you desire in this program. You can record all of them. The premade loops are just there in case you want them. They aren't necessarily meant for an entire song.

  • @JonathanHowardGuitar If I don't have a keyboard how can I make the sounds? Like in the piano roll. That's what I used to do in FL Studio I can't figure out Logic though. Thanks a bunch if you can help me!

  • @JonathanHowardGuitar Can't you use MIDI? I know its a late respone but it has to be said.

  • extremely helpfull tnx.

  • What if I want a certain effect for only a certain amount of time.

  • @cannibaldada Thanks a bunch! I am happy that these are helping you out!

  • Hello Jonathan. Thanks for your tutorials, they helped me out a lot. Logic should pay you for your work here :-)

I have 2 questions though: what model of interface do you use? Does Logic Express 9 come with a drum machine so that instead of using those premade loops I would create my own beats?

Thanks for your time and effort.

  • @mrksdlx Thank you for the comment! And I go over what my interface is in part 3. And there is a drum machine in the program called ultra beat, which allows you to create all of your own beats!

  • Hi - very interesting tutorial series - thanks for posting.

Just a quick question. Are you familiar with version 8 of this software? If so, how would you rate this in comparison to the older version (s)? I am wondering whether or not to go for it now or hold out for yet another future version. I have Logic Express 8. Thanks!

  • @youvexme Great question! And compared to Logic 8. There are a significant amount of upgrades when it comes to Logic 9. I definitely found it useful to get the upgrade.

  • Hello Jon. I was following along but my logic wouldn't play the loop once I dropped it in the arrangement field. also why is my loop green and you loop blue?

  • hey check out my logic songs i will be uploading more soon thanks

  • Whats the difference between logic express and logic pro?

  • @hardstyleaddictedNL Logic express and Logic pro are the same program. Logic pro, however, has more pre-made loops and has the ability to record live shows.

  • @JonathanHowardGuitar oke thanks for the info

  • Hi jon, Thanks you for the videos, they've really given me ahead start and made things easy for me on logic. I'm still new on logic and the whole software production.

Bro what advice would u give to someone like me who's still new into this. someone told me i should maybe start off on reason and Fl? Thanks again...

  • @mvakash I would definitely stick with Logic. I have worked with many different recording programs and this one has an extremely easy learning curve and the User Interface is laid out very nicely. It is all based on preference, though, I suppose.

  • Hi Jon,,

My Logic/Mac PRO reads Logic Pro instead of Logic Express. How did you access the window here that only shows one mixing slider. I always have two,a left and right one. I tried to extend tracks but they don't do it as you described.A track will extend but no sound or another My "shaker" track will completely reposition itself to meet up with the cursor or long white horizontal line and leave no music in the first four measures.

  • Hey man...thanks so much for going over automation. I've been wondering about that for a long time. It sure helps to have the visual aid! Thanks for putting these tutorials together!

  • @holycowmusic1 No problem at all! I am happy to help you out with these tutorials!

  • im on reason 4 rite now i like cant get vst my only problem thinking about goin with logic 9 let me know what you think i should do

  • Hey, Jon! Great videos, but just one question. In the first video you mentioned at the end (you are now ready to record your video), but I don't know how to actually record the track! I want to create my own melody, not loops. Help?

  • @DragonerPhoenix

Hey great question! And a lot of that is answered in some of the other tutorials, but just to quickly give you an answer, I will say it here. In order to record you need some kind of audio interface, unless you want to use the microphone built into your computer. But once you have that set up, then you can record your own melodies, vocals,, anything you would like. It goes over this in the next video, "Part 3". Hope that this helps!

    -Jonathan

  • Really good tutorial. I'm just wondering, to record do you need any special microphones?

  • Hey man, thank you! And you don't need any special microphones, you could literally just record with the mic built into your computer if you wanted to. But having a nice mic definitely won't hurt =) hope this helps!

    -Jonathan

  • is there a demo version for ilogic 9 or would i have to buy it? i don't know whether to buy this or acid... logic is up there tho

  • I don't think that there is a demo version of Logic 9. But I highly recommend it. I have tried out several different recording softwares and this one has a lot more to offer over others. But I understand since it is dishing out money like that, but I personally prefer it over acid.

    -Jonathan

  • try garageband than buy this

  • Back again. Just watched part one & two. Both are very helpful. 5 stars for both. On to your other videos.

  • Very cool! Thanks again for doing these videos.

    5 stars!

  • Thanks Tim! I'm really glad that they help you!

  • Nice vid!

I'm currently using Ableton and Reason on my PC but I'm Thinking of buying a Macbook Pro for Dj'ing and producing. But i'm wondering:

Is the instrument input (for creating your own melodies & loops) basically the same in LE 9 as in Ableton and Reason?

and what is the big difference between Logic Express 9 and Logic Pro 9?

thanks for one of the clearest and most easy-to-follow vids i've seen so far. keep up the good work :)

    p'z

  • Logic is very similar to Ableton, but I personally prefer logic by far just because of the way things are laid out, usability and quality. Its very easy

The main difference between Logic express and Logic pro is that Logic pro has a more loops, along with recording stuff to assist in live concerts. I was fine with express right now, because down the road you can buy the upgrade to pro for the same price it would cost you.

Thankyou very much for your awesome comment! I hope this helps. =)

  • Well done! I'm just getting to know this program myself, so this and part 1 were very helpful. If you're taking requests, I wouldn't mind learning more about compression and mastering in Logic Express.

  • Thankyou very much! I am really glad that it has helped you out. I can definitely do a video that goes over compression and mastering very soon. I put up a new tutorial about every week. But thanks again!

  • Thanks Jonathan!

Excellent video on Logic Express. Very helpful and easy to follow. Like I said in your first video, perfect for newbies like my self who are moving up to Logic from GarageBand. Well done!

    peace... 
