Was there an update for this game or something? Because I can't use the sword unless I hang absolutely still for a second or two. Which means I have to fly up to him, wait for the drift to stop, charge up the sword, THEN strike. And by that time he's usually gone already, or firing an entire blast of his vulcan lasers into me at point-blanc range. Seriously, apart from the vulcan laser, I can't do aything else while manouvering.

I found if you are fast enough, and get used to his attacks, you can pretty much just use the Horizontal sword attack and keep rushing him.
He seems to go into a loop where he tries to charge and fire the pink laser (?) attack and if you slide slightly to the left or right, right as you approach him, you can slash at him and the attack he fires will miss - or do very little damage.
It seems using the Horizontal slash also has a kind of lock on, and it follows him as he takes off from you. cont

Oddly enough, ALMOST all of the gundam games and mech games in general suck, and this one, which doesn't even revolve around the robots, does it right. Capcom, please teach the other developers how mech gameplay is really done.

wtf! everytime i play, i get his health to 0... he never dies! i tried it 10+ times. and when my t-eng reaches 0000 I don't die... I only die when he gets me. HAX
The final boss is easy you can beat him by holding your distance, no big deal. The real hard bosses on Extreme are the very first boss because you have to jump a lot and cant enter it with an VS, the second boss is also very tricky ! And without a doubt the Mission 07 boss is absolutely hardcore if you even wanna try to defeat the GAB-tank on the roof on foot good luck you will need it, on a sidenote the 7th boss is fairly simply if you come with the VS equipped with dual shotguns.

You just charge your sword and slash him. and secondly it did not receive a 5.5/10 it received an 8.5/10 for 360. ps3 only got lower rating cuz after a year of waiting nothing new came out for th ps3 version. ps3 only got all the map packs included in the multiplayer.
He really isn't that hard. You just gotta look for an opening and smash him with your sword. Only thing, his damn vulcan lazer attack thing does a number on you.
I finally got him and unlocked Joe for online :) I had to master flying that mech (VS) to really get some damage in. I used all the strategies here and I also would hit and run behind the "Orbital Elevator" to avoid his counter attacks.
this guy is gonna make me go crazy. I can't manage to beat him. I hate the fact that all of the skills u learned up until this point, get thrown out the window, and all of sudden your in a mech sword fight. This is my only complaint with this game (my favorite btw)

I hate the fact that you have to learn new skills all over again. hate to burst your bubble but at the recent GDC convention kojima made it quite clear he did not want to work on older titles, so forget ZOE3 or snacther2 etc, whats funny is that he mention the next MGS game, he said it he would use software to make leaps in advancements this time instead of hardware(ps3) i guess thats like MGS2 to 3 on ps2, the difference between them is pretty big, so yeah more MGS, its a bit sad really, I would love a new ZOE or some kind of mech game on that level.
if playing like me with mouse and keybord reasign the keys so that you have Rmouse:horizontal slash, Lmouse:vertical slash, middle mouse:machine gun. Since there is NO way to stop your upward or downward movement to a desired level I found using vertical slash stops you at the height you want.
I have to say this is the most miserable endboss I have ever seen.I played lost planet on the pc version on steam with all patches.The game developers should really be ashamed of themselves for spoiling such a nice game with this stupid fight.Instead of actually coming up with something difficult they bugged your mech so as not to receive the orders u give it.I have some pointers:

I dunno if it's viable in Extreme mode, but you can also hold down either of the trigger buttons, then hold for a really short time, to do a double sword attack. Very... Very strong.

I dunno if it's viable in Extreme mode, but you can also hold down either of the trigger buttons, then hold for a really short time, to do a double sword attack. Very... Very strong.
