the zr1 isn't all that advanced at all. it uses old technology. the suspension work very well but is not all that technologically advanced by any means. the car works well : light weight, light engine, lots of power and grip. all you ever need in a car but the advancement of this car cannot be compared to todays BMW's and MB's and Ferrari's and Lambo's. but thats the beauty of this car. pure simplicity and awesome potential. :)

In all the magazines Ive read the GT had a higher top speed than the vette. the vette went 189mph, the GT went 205 mph. the srt10 was last with ~180mph. not to mention the Gt is supercharged and the srt10 has a v10... the ZR1 is supercharged so it should pwn the GT.

They won't have to lower the price. The ZR1 will sell out faster than the Z06. Dealers will mark up the price as they've been doing till the next year's model is about to arrive. Dealers will also markup the price of the GTR when it arrives. You won't find one for anywhere near $70K initially.

I saw "Corvette Killer" on a magazine cover. Problem is, The Nissan would have a tough time running with the base Vette. 600lb heavier and only 44Hp more (base Vette). One can't beat the laws of physics. There is no way that a 3800lb car will run with a 3200lb car having 25 more Hp. And, Z06 track performance is second to none. Either the article had a misprint, or the writer was smoking crack. A 3800lb car WILL NOT run 149 mph in 1/4 mile with 480Hp. Period. It's not going to run with a Z06.
there is more factors to performance than just power and weight. air resistance, effectivness of power, and climate conditions all affect performance. Other cars can use their horsepower more efficiantly than others. A porsche is a good example of this. ANother fact you are wrong at again is that not only is a skyline in the same league of a z06, but it will beat it easily. In fact, it beat the z06's record lap time around Nurburgring by a good 4 seconds.
Lap times at Nurburgring: GTR 7:50, Z06 7:42:99. And yes, there are a lot of factors, but one cannot outsmart the laws of physics, even with great engineering. 480Hp WILL NOT propel a 3800lb object to 149 MPH in 1/4 mile.
Guys, GTR is a good car. 7:38 GTR time was with a Formula 1 driver, 7:50 Vette with an engineer driving. And for all of the anti-American fanatics, the Vette WILL compete with anyone. I'm an American, and the Vette IS THE American sports car...and the ZR1 is coming.

uhm... ftw stands for for the win... My dad has 8 chevys, and I drive his 1967 Chevelle. I love Chevys. In all the magazines Ive read the GT had a higher top speed than the vette. the vette went 189mph, the GT went 205 mph. the srt10 was last with ~180mph. not to mention the Gt is supercharged and the srt10 has a v10... the ZR1 is supercharged so it should pwn the GT.

With the numbers GM is quoting this car is gonna be barely faster then the GTR despite having 140hp more hp. I'll just take the GTR throw on a CAI and exhaust system and having it running ZR1 numbers and still have a good 25k to spend on whatever.

They won't have to lower the price. The ZR1 will sell out faster than the Z06. Dealers will mark up the price as they've been doing till the next year's model is about to arrive. Dealers will also markup the price of the GTR when it arrives. You won't find one for anywhere near $70K initially.

I saw "Corvette Killer" on a magazine cover. Problem is, The Nissan would have a tough time running with the base Vette. 600lb heavier and only 44Hp more (base Vette). One can't beat the laws of physics. There is no way that a 3800lb car will run with a 3200lb car having 25 more Hp. And, Z06 track performance is second to none. Either the article had a misprint, or the writer was smoking crack. A 3800lb car WILL NOT run 149 mph in 1/4 mile with 480Hp. Period. It's not going to run with a Z06.

there is more factors to performance than just power and weight. air resistance, effectivness of power, and climate conditions all affect performance. Other cars can use their horsepower more efficiantly than others. A porsche is a good example of this. ANother fact you are wrong at again is that not only is a skyline in the same league of a z06, but it will beat it easily. In fact, it beat the z06's record lap time around Nurburgring by a good 4 seconds.

Lap times at Nurburgring: GTR 7:50, Z06 7:42:99. And yes, there are a lot of factors, but one cannot outsmart the laws of physics, even with great engineering. 480Hp WILL NOT propel a 3800lb object to 149 MPH in 1/4 mile.

I've ACTUALLY SEEN a stock Z06 with a bad driver run an 11.7. With a better driver, that Z06 could easily hit an 11 flat. The Z06 is easier to maintain, has a cheaper price, and better performance. But, by all means, buy your little GTR if you can afford one. When you can't, remember that degree I have, and then I'll smoke you in my Z06.

Ryken9597 is correct. I just bought an 08 convertible with 436 Hp. Of course it runs nothing like the Z06, but on the trip home, it got almost 29 mpg. Our Corolla only gets 30 mpg.
