  • @talon115 ho say that to those masters face they will kick your ass

  • Those Karate Masters are deadly ,respect.

  • The supernatural mumbo jumbo that was sold with karate to the western world has been proven to be complete horse shit. These old "masters" would be killed by one of todays MMA fighters. There is no chi or ki that will give you superhuman powers.

  • @talon115 you dont train do you?

  • @talon115 He said, in no uncertain terms, that you become weaker in a sportive sense as you age. What's it like to be illiterate?

  • @talon115

one of the best Portugal bouncer was dead after receiving Karate punch in the chest. No play play if your MMA heroes are at the end of one makiwara hardened Okinawan fist he will be on the ground lol.

  • 60% of clubes are commercials,30% works on physical, only 10% works on chi!!!

  • /watch?v=H4Y9pLABX2Q&feature=related 9 dan video is 1970 greece master

  • nakazato joen sensei, my master's master died in september, so sad...

  • Thank you, Jiken66, for posting this video!

  • Great!

    Karate is always cool!

    Okinawa rules!!!

    Respect for Japan,

    Respect for Okinawa, and Karate!

    Osu!

  • very interesting video !

    OSS!

  • Wish I understood the test with the spoon and fork

  • I see the roots of all the Karate and Kobudo that I have practiced here. All the kata of Shorin-ryu Seibukan from Zenpo Shimabukuro, our Pinan kata came from Shugoro Nakazato, and Matayoshi-ryu Kobudo (although I am a nidan in Karatedo, regretfully I have only earned 7th kyu in kobudo).

  • @DrewOchsner Seibukan Pinan came from Nakama who was deshi to Chibana and Motobu.

  • @vghg77 That is true, but we are not a Seibukan Dojo. I train in a Dojo with very close ties to the Seibukan dojos of Hanshi Zenpo, and Kyoshi Dan Smith, so we teach all of the Seibukan kata and bunkai. However we also have ties to ShorinRyu Shorinkan (Hanshi Nakazato) so we teach their pinans, as well as some Naha-te kata. Our master is a sifu of shaolin chuan fa (kenpo), so our dan levels become more and more Chinese. We also incorporate basic arnis and Matayoshi ryu kobudo is optional.

  • Master Shugoro Nakazato is my master's master!!!

I am 15 and I never met him yet....

  • @souleater1994122 that is also true for me! my Kaichou or my sensei's sensei is Kakazato!, however he isnt Shugoro Nakazato, he is Eishou Nakazato. apparently there is two!

  • Shorin Ryu = Shaolin liu = 少林流

  • Man i love okinawa

  • What was the spoon and fork experiment aimed to achive/show? Please explain.

  • It's a way to explain how you put your weight into your fist. Try at home and you'll see the fork and the spoon stand on the glass just with a little part of the match.

This experiment is to explain how you need to be unpredictable for your opponent. The objective is to be powerful without body signal that your opponent can read.

hope this is clear enough and sorry for the late answer

  • Domo. I am clear now.

  • @jiken66 Afraid I don't understand.

  • @jiken66 I've watched this several times and have thought about it for a while but I just don't get it. I will keep trying.

  • @jiken66 i wan't to .A.S.K U WHAT DO THINK ABOUT AMERICAN KARATE

  • @jiken66 indeed. innner strength like adrenaline, where you can unleash extra power or strength especially in emergency situation like house is burning, life threatening situation where suddenly you can lift things heavier than you or you can do extra ordinary things.

so what if you can unleash this adrenaline anytime you want. isn't that great.

you can punch and kick with extreme power, or receive extreme blow without pain

  • why can't we have ki, science, AND itchy-scratchy???

  • You need long training. Posture is very important. It isn't supernatural, it is more like balistic closed to systema punch but with several differences.

  • Osu!

  • I feel that the scientific discovery and analysis of ki will end the need for science, in that we will have found the origin of 'everything'.

  • End the need for science? Science is a path of unending research, a method to gain knowledge about any single aspect of reality. Until we know everything science usefullness won't end, something that us, humans, may never see.

  • Yes, it can't go any further. If we discovered a true omnipotent God...and could prove it...there would be an end to religion. Same goes with science. They are brothers in the same light. No one without the other, or else objectiveness would rule the mind.

  • Well, time will say. The world can be seen from an objective perspective, a different thing is being able to do that.

  • Yeah. Let's see if we will cure ourselves or kill ourselves over time.

  • Well, let's try not to mix scientific knowledge with philosophies or ways of thinking. I'm not trying to compare science and martial arts or ki, I'm just saying that science's need won't end, at least not by the reasons you are stating

Moreover, science and knowledge don't kill, people do. Knowledge is power, and power in the wrong hands leads to wrong consecuences. Well, I highly doubt that we may found the origin of everything by discovering what you call ki. That sounds like religion to me

  • I was in agreement with you. My comment does look sarcastic(poorly expressed on my part, apologies). I mean to say that Ki can be the equivelant of life force or that single thing that can hold all the string theories and religions together. Science and philosophy cannnot be separated...that leads to non discovery, inquiry or imagination(which is the power of man, the essence of our being and progression). If you know the source, everything can be unwrapped in an instance. An end/beginning.

  • People would not only feel and believe 'love'...they would never question it, again. Now, in all the world isn't that the only 'thing' that any being can truly say is the one true universal axiom without thought, currently? Scientist or theologian.

  • the internal energy referred to in this video is not something supernatural. This is a technical position, a way to strike ... Nothing esoteric or philos.

  • Yeah, well, I felt like not being a 'bore'.

    Great upload by the way.

  • @jiken66 wrong

  • I started practicing under Miyazato Shoei Sensei, Okinawa Shorinryu Shidokan in 1969. In my youth I once entered a full-contact match out of curiosity, with no extra training except the traditional, with kata. My opponent had been practicing full-contact for 8 years, winning many matches, but I downed him with a "simple" mae-geri toe kick. Sadly, I was disqualified for throwing an ura-ken at him, a conditioned reaction to thinking he was getting up again, whcih was against the rules.

  • TRULY EXCELLENT! These are the videos that need to be uploaded so the public can get to know more about traditional Okinawan Karate Do. Many arts look similar, but even an apparently "simple" technique such as the mae geri at 5:00 has subtleties: see the practitioner in the middle, his arms stay in front guarding the body, the foot strikes and is chambered back in a similar trajectory, the knee is not lowered, etc. His movement is a good example of Okinawan mae geri.

  • OSS !

  • I thought you were dead?

  • Thanks for posting :)

  • C'est quoi ça le truc de la cuillère, fourchette, allumette et le verre.

    C'est assez impressionnant!

What's with trick with the fork, spoon, matches & the glass.

    It's quite impressive!

  • not a sport an art...what about shorei kan

  • Karate is a discipline at first! a spiritual way of life.

    Than a sport

  • Karate can be made a sport. However, if you do you are well on the way of adulterating it and thereby misunderstanding it.

  • J'aime bien ce quel a dit le master au 8:11

  • Ah, merci! Je l'aime

  • Excellent! Merci beaucoup.

  • God bless

  • great video. Hope to see more! it is great to see authentic shorin ryu karate and kobudo outside from okinawa. greetings from Greece!

  • why do you show the symbol of shotokan when you show a picture of Nakazato Shuguro????

  • WOW. AWesome video! youtube needs more "informative" videos like this, but instead... most are crap. :D great video!

  • Hi everybody!

Thanks for your commentaries. I'm happy to see your interest in this film!!!

I did this film to honor my martial art master and to explain the real spirit of martial art in modern time.

Don't hesitate asking questions. I would love to give you more information!

    Enjoy

  • can you tell me please what is special about karate?

ive been practising it now for a while and think its really great but i am having trouble to see what sets karate apart from other martial arts. you know boxing has the best punches muay thai uses knees and elbows and so on.

i would appreciate an answer and thanks in advance

  • Lime, here's the thing: Okinawan karate teaches one to respect him/herself, to develop great health, discipline, and enormous amounts of respect to humankind. As well, Oki karate was made to defend oneself against overwhelming odds. It's not about scoring points or knocking someone to submit. It's about disabling and/or killing your opponent to protect yourself, your family, and loved ones. The other styles focus on winning things, which truly will be all you get out of it.

  • If you plan on studying martial arts, start with Okinawan karate, and don't settle for anything less than the best, even if it means you have to drive an hour to the dojo and an hour back and have to prove yourself before you get a white belt. Train hard and "practice how you play." You will never, ever regret your training. My sister-in-law's dad owned a karate school for 20 years, she was forced to go until black belt, she couldn't stand it but would do it again. Let me no ur thots friend

  • no art is better than any other. they all are the same, yet they are all different as well. and they all have reasons for the way they do things. what makes karate better? nothing. what makes muay thai better? nothing. what matters is that you like it.

  • First, I question who your teacher is. Traditional karate is worlds apart from boxing, muay thai etc. And, I don't know boxing has the best anything. Okinawa karate-do is about the development of your character through arduous training in an endeaver that can not be mastered or fully learned. The technique is unique, the philosophy of life is clean and honorable and continuous training, sweat, blood and, at times. tears, forge you in the fires of self respect and hard work. CHW karate 44 yrs.

  • Well said!

  • karate is spiritual sport and it gives you a control under your mind, that is so special, because if you are doing technics you are doing some sort of meditation whic gives you the peace and spiritual freedom understand??

  • It's a really nice movie!

I am very impressed that the main goal of martial arts still is teached somewhere outside of okinawa.

  • Great

  • Nice internal force documentary!

  • a great master, no doubt !

  • documentaire tres professionel. On voit que vous avez bcp taffer dessus!

    Good Job!! ;)

  • I love it!!!!

  • I love it too!!!!!!

    ;)
