  • But what about the heavy distortion? How does it sound?

  • @venomousstring I'm not sure what you mean?

  • @Wallimann If you use it with a heavier distortion (e.g. death metal ones), and/or with heavier strings....

sorry, I sure got curious :)

  • @venomousstring Oh ok, I haven't tried. But this pick is mostly used as a training device I think...

  • @Wallimann No, not at all, i know about a lot o people who would like a pick with this thickness (including myself). And the opinions about the material.... The relief for those with pain in the picking hand (rumor though).

I gotta get this pick!!! :)

  • @venomousstring Thanks a lot for the input, much appreciated!

  • That stupid ass headstock is from a Parker. Those guitars are amazing. Looks are not everything.

  • can it do a pinch harmonic?

  • @joethesnake Yeah, but not very easily...

  • stupid ass headstock

  • i tried the jazz 3 carbon.. cant go back to normal sizes picks

  • How the fuck do you do that so fast and so effortlessly?!

  • I bought this pick and all I can say is its an overpriced gimic that delivers nothing of value. It's just another of those "promise to make you better" tools that never delivers, how many virtuosos have you seen using these?

  • Nice, here where i live, when boys starts to play guitar. we used half of a phone card. It's like a credit card but harder, it really works. Push harder with the card, play freely with the pick

  • When he says "improve your alternate picking technique", all he means is "play faster". This video is therefore unmusical rubbish. Maybe forgive-able in a 12 year old novice player but that's it. Why on earth do so many guitarists feel they have to play the same riff/run/scale over and over again as quickly as possible? It has nothing to do with music. It makes one embarrassed to be a guitarist.

  • @clangerlover I Completely agree with you. Speed is not the ultimate goal. I did mean acurate playing, not speed. :-)

  • @clangerlover burn

  • @SuperJonalicious What do you mean?

  • @clangerlover That's probably because in order to play fast "well" then you must develop a good technique. But I agree that playing just to burn scales at 2000bpm is pointless, however I think a good development of speed is hugely important. I believe that feeling is important but I hate it when people use it as an excuse for not developing a good technique, you need to be efficent in both.

  • @6EELZE6U6666 Ahh....well good technique does not need to equate to playing fast at all, particularly with a pick. "Good technique" is a mechanism for allowing ones musicality to show through, it should not hamper or be detrimental to musicality. And "limitation" can often be an advantage in any Art form. Look at Wes Montgomery, Jeff Back, Django of course. Cheers.

  • @clangerlover ...sorry, Jeff Beck I mean.

  • @clangerlover fair point, but what I mean is for somebody to play fast but also articulate and clean takes great skill. I'm not talking about guys that shred scales 24/7 just to reach ridiculous speeds (but still no idea how to use it). Perhaps looking into Troy Stetina and his mechanics of fast playing would sway your opinion slightly of speed. He really goes into great detail of what is truely required to play with speed but also maintain the good stuff :) but I do agree with you

  • another thing to imprve technique is to practice chops on your accoustic guitar. when you go back to your electric guitar, it's a joke

  • big picks get tone, but I don't think that was the perfect way to show that

  • i use big stubby's 3 mm

  • Yeah, if you are listening carefully there is an improvement in technique and there is a slight improvement in speed.

But that is one big assed pick - I don't think I could make myself play with it for a week!!!

  • Jim Dunlop Rhino picks are awesome! Very hard and accurate. No flexing at all at speed!

  • I really think your picking was tighter and cleaner before you used the fat pick.

  • Yepp, I discovered it by myself - 3 vertices pick.

Make them from old vinyl record platesm it just never slips off the fingers cause of the tiny line scratches and it is pretty hard to bang the strings as you like

  • what a bunch of shit

  • can't go wrong with the Jazz III

  • This is a fucking ridiculous marketing ploy. It just makes it harder to play for a week so when you go back you feel like fucking malmsteen. Just for this im never going to use any V-picks.

  • ... I tried playing constantly with my huge prick for a week, but my technique didn't improve at all - got a few hand injuries though ... 30$ for a pick? No wonder it's called the insanity pick...

  • Ridiculous

  • It's just a matter of creating an obstruction for a week. If you play a K-Mart guitar for a week, then pick up a les paul, you will definatly feel some relief.

  • I bought a couple of the small pointed V-picks and noticed an immediate difference.

They're much smoother and more toneful than the jazz 3's I've been using. And they don't seem to be wearing out at all(so far).So I'm convinced enough that I ordered a pearly gates,a pg med pointed,pg acoustic,Dimension jr.buffed and unbuffed,as well as a Psycho.I honestly couldn't hear a difference in your demo, but I love the feel and tone of these picks. And there IS a difference compared to other brands.

  • I dont know why but I only seem to be able to use Gibson picks to get any speed as they glide over the strings better.

  • I use purple @mm Dunlops... Best. Pick. EVAR

  • tried it.....was not good

  • hay man you dont gota pay no thirty dollars, the secret is that its a placebo pick meant to make you play more and subconsciously learn how to feel the strings. just use a sae shell or a rock or a freekin little syrup pourer from ihop

  • I use a Jim Dunlop 3mm Stubby, they're awesome!

  • a ridiculous way of advertising with a week of flashback and also with a more ridiculous laugh effect at 0:52. sorry

  • @delipeach I really wasn't advertising anything. I didn't get anything for this. :-D

  • Thick picks are cool, I use a 3mm Stagg :P

  • insanity pick my ass.... nothing can beat the pick of destiny

  • This is interesting because I've been bumping my pick size over the last few months up to 1.5mm. And when I went back to my medium Dunlops I stopped maybe a year ago, they felt so easier to play with. The thing I don't like though is that light picks are too fragile. The heavy ones have good, round tones.

  • I know youve been asked this before, but what normal pick do you use? (i dont really feel like searching through all the comments to see if anyone asked you before me lol

  • @JacksonKBH No problem, I use V-Picks small pointed picks...

  • i started using a dinner plate and damn!! my picking improved 100%.

  • @RJiminez51 Hahaha!!!! That's really funny man! :-D

  • No difference :)

  • what guitar is that?? it looks like it was made for shred!

  • @Willcussoutforfood It's a Parker Nitefly. They are actually very versatile guitars. :-)

  • What a load of crap!

  • you are using economy picking....instead of alternate picking!!

  • @Isaac73 No I'm not... :-)

  • @Wallimann very similar to economy picking.....

  • It tends to put your guitar out of tune a lot also , keeping all this in mind i went back to a softer pick

  • It is nothing new , ive been making this type of pick for many years , very easy to make , however this type of pick is no good for struming and you will break more strings

  • next time black background please

  • @TheReboundingHeart Yes sir! :-D

  • Practicing anything for a week is going to improve your technique. Try it with a regular pick and you will get the same results.

  • @Beck10g It personally helped me and I didn't practice more than any other weeks during that experiment. That being said, I know that this might not be for anyone. :-D

  • im just gonna tape a bunch of pics together and make my own insanitiy pick

  • 30 dollars!??!? for 30 dollars I can get a chick to do me a blowjob!!!!

  • do you have tabs for that A major run?

  • @ironzoeg123 No I don't.. But it's going down 2 strings at a time on a 3 note per string position...

  • Btw, enjoy the tendonitis you get from your current "picking technique"

  • @09ThunderOne Haha! I know man, my position always has caused me trouble.. I changed that though. More open now. :-)

  • Uhh, I've seen picks like this for like 1/10th the price. I even own one. Simple truth: A pick isn't going to "drastically increase" your picking ability. IT'S A PICK.

  • ok so i bought some v-picks, i got the screamer, the snake and the medium pointy. I went in hoping for these to be everything they are hyped up to be. my honest opinion, they are not. don't get me wrong they are good but the only difference really is the bevelled edge which makes the pick glide easier, I liked it at 1st but now I hate it. I have to say also that I can't hold onto these things they are sooo slippery, I have a naturally sweaty grip and these things are a nightmare. its just a fad

  • @6EELZE6U6666 I wish they had some in stores to try out. Woud be so easier.

I love them, but know that's personal...

  • @6EELZE6U6666 put some grip tape on it lawl

  • 6:00

Before: he had got his hat.

After: he hasn't got no longer his hat and he say "yeah"!!

what incredible pick!! 30 dollars!! wow!!

  • Thanks David, hope all is well, since the GMC days. Curiously, I alternate between some V-Picks and my person flat pick of choice. I have felt that spending some time with the V-picks forces me into better technique. I don't know that I will ever use them exclusively, time will tell. I have been using a Screamer or Med pointed, but I think I will try the diamond or pointed diamond now, which are thick, for the reasons you explain here. I subscribed.

  • @PraiseDog Glad you enjoy the picks! Thanks a lot for the sub! :-)

  • paul gilbert is not cool you know what is cool? a billion dollars

  • hold on, does this mean when you go back to a regular pick everything is more difficult and wierd again?

  • @racerx3065 No, on the contrary! :-)

  • @strabbs1 with the size of it, its probably impossible to loose but I hear ya

  • try another bacround next time!!

  • so i just left the v picks website, i ordered 1 insanity, 1 stiletto, 1 switchblade, 1 medium lite pointed, and 1 small lite pointed...never before have i spent 50 dollars on picks, nor have i been this excited about picks! i cant wait for them to come in! :D

  • @whammybarfreak Cool! Let me know which one is your favorite when you get them. :-)

  • @Wallimann they arrived today, im really liking the stiletto and switchblade, and yeah the insanity is insane...very fun to use lol :D

  • GO BACK TO THIS PICK DAVID IT WILL HELP YOU RELAX UR PICKING HAND MORE

  • So do you still go back to the insanity pick once in a while? Charles M.

  • @thefretboardmagician No, I haven't.. But I should...

  • What a TOOL!

  • i dont think its really improved ur speed or cleanliness. i think the only positive aspect, is the feeling of comfort when going back to the normal sized pic. sure it feels good, but doesnt necessarily mean u'v improved. in speed or leanliness. u could maybe convince me otherwise, butt, i dunoooo

  • They named it by it's price

  • I'm guessing you handicap yourself with the big pick, that you have to get better to use it, so when u head back to the smaller easier pick, it should be much easier.

  • this guy is funny hes real good

  • @stringmachine2000 Thanks man!

  • You're not supposed to sell out this early man...

  • @Oopiego Haha! I'm not man, I wasn't paid for that at all and really liked the pick. Wouldn't have done the video if I didn't.

  • He picks exactly at the same speed after using that thing for a week...

  • @novembrinewaltz90 Yeah you're right. It's not a speed thing but a cleanness thing...

  • @Wallimann Now I understand, but honestly I can't hear any great differences between before and after...

  • ты так много пиздишь...больше не могу на тебя смотреть.

  • How can you make so expensive pick? Insanity!

  • Insanity is paying more than the equivalent of $1.00USD for a damn guitar pick. This "super pick" nonsense has been going on since I was a kid. Here are some of the picks that the pros use/used when their picking was in top form:

Paul GIlbert- (sharpened) Dunlop Delrin 1.14mm

Yngwie Malmsteen- Fender extra-heavy then Dunlop Delrin 1.5mm

    Jason Becker- Dunlop Delrin 1.5mm

    Vinnie Moore- Fender extra-heavy

Al DiMeola, Eric Johnson (and dozens of others) - Dunlop Jazz III

  • reminds me of those weird picks gipsy dudes use

  • Dimension picks are only good for alternate picking; attempting to sweep pick using dimension picks will decrease your speed

  • This really is the PICK OF DENSITY!!! geddit...

  • are the thin ones like dunlop jazz III's at all? because i feel that the jazz III's can really enhance picking technique.

  • It's like the gipsy picks

  • Is it just me who thought after the one week later.... part he seemed to almost be in tears like that pick broke his soul lol

  • @bakedspade Hahaha! No, it's justthat I was tired.

At the time I had to start teaching at 5AM everyday... :-D

  • it's easier, lol. probably because you been playing the same riff for a week straight.you're no paul gilbert, but I still love your own style of playing...all is good with both of yous.

  • @jareds1007 Thanks! :-)

  • Your technique worsened. Throw that pick of shit away!!!

  • bollocks !!!!!!! like EVH says the tones in your fingers and im british so wit does that translate to currency wise ??

  • your a beast

  • Sounds good to me.

  • The way you said: I am really excited was like: I don't really care.

  • ill just crab some picks and put them together to make that big of a pic xD

  • I can't see or ear the difference.

  • @shnakle1 Yeah, it's mostly the way it feels.

  • @shnakle1 dude its well faster

  • @shnakle1 he says he needs about an hour to get used to the old picks... but he said he can feel that its easier to play it... so after an hour, youll probably hear a difference.

  • Юрий Шевчук учит лабать на гитаре))

Uriy Shevchuk teach's how to play on a guitar.

  • @conarmclaud What? :-)

  • @Wallimann

There is one guy in Russia. His name is Uriy Shevchuk (Юрий? Шевчук). He is a famous russian rock musician.

  • Comment removed

  • Is like play with a stone!!!

  • @jasonbecklegend Yeah, it is!

  • You wanna give me your pick that you used?

  • @XIDEMONIX425 Well, I still use it sometimes... :-)

  • I can hear the pick from right hand, it's not smooth. It is a great pratice thing, but the lighter picks are more sweet for listen. Well i think...They have diferent aplications.

    Good observations, good lesson.

  • @levizinhorodrigues Yeah, I agree!

  • @levizinhorodrigues I bought a medium pointed, I received yesterday and wow man, you technique really does improve. Is like you don't have to work hard to hit the notes, they jump out at ease and pinch harmonics are piece of cake. They arent that great for rhythm but when it comes to technique and tone they are seriously the best.

  • £22 in england!!.the rate at which i lose jaz III s at is ridiculous, basicaly its a £22 pound coin for me to lose, why not super glue 4 picks together??????

  • @strabbs1 yeah i lose jazz III's all the time, your comment is hilarious man!

  • @strabbs1

better make it like 10 ;D

  • £22 in england!!.the rate at which i lose jaz III s at is ridiculous, basicaly its a £22 pound coin for me to lose

  • Trust me guys I've been playing for years and have tried every size, gauge, shape and colour of pick to 'improve' my technique. Conclusion: I wish I found any pick and stuck with it!

  • yeh but surely you would get used to the thikckness of the pick and not a normal pick..

  • @JoshGoldie I don't know.. I never use that pick anymore, I'm using regular small pointed ones.

I only used that for a week... :-)

  • @Wallimann if it's so good, why won't you use it any more?

  • @Gel1ebtedesregens It's good to redirect your picking and fix hand position. Once it's fixed, no need to continues. :-)

  • I just ordered one...let's see what happens!

  • 4:47 nice im really excited lol

  • Funny I just found this video, just went though a picking crisis. For years been playing with green dunlap .88. thought I,d try the jazz picks ,big and small ,than I tried some ( the drum roll please) herco .50 .I love em,I can actually play better with the thinner pick .With the flex I keep a better rythym .I used to hate thin picks. go figure

  • Hello, nice video. So the model was just to use big chunk and later to come back to lighter one?

  • @WakizashiSabre Thanks. Yeah, that's exactly it. :-)

  • where can you order them?

  • @TheGuitarrox12 v-picksdotcom

  • i am thinking of getting one...who else got it and helped them?

  • i'm gettin this for christmas this year

  • @funkynic1 Let me know what you think! -)

  • @Wallimann I just got this pick in the mail, I can already feel a difference in my technique. This pick is totally worth it

  • @funkynic1 Excellent man! Thanks for the feedback!

  • do you get like any chirping or ghost notes or is it just me? i use active pickups if that helps

  • @godlikecharacta Maybe the pickups are too close to the strings?

  • hey i struggle to stand up and alternate pick but when i do i hit the strings from an angle and its really annoying help?

  • @SGTkobiba Does this problem happen when you are sitting down?

Maybe try to bring your guitar higher with your strap?

  • It's... the pick of destiny!

  • What pick do you usual use?

  • @Soulfulshreddify I use the V-Pick small pointed picks. They are kind of like Jazz 3s. I really like them.

  • 30 dollars!! hell no!!!

  • @HmongGuitarPlayer haha! I know, I know...

  • its not a pick

    its a stone

  • @XxQuadcoredxX It is! haha!

  • I superglued 2 or 3 quarters together. The weight and thickness will increase the need for accuracy and finger/wrist strength. Then go back to your old pick. And it only costs 50 or 75 cents.

  • @mooseicman Nicely done! :-)

  • Skeptical Jeff sez: What if you had simply used your regular pick for a week and practiced that same lick for hours on end using a metronome? Don't you think you would have had the same amount of success? Maybe you increased your speed by 5-10 bpm or so? I'm not knocking the pick...and your playing is very clean. But it's not like you sucked to start with, you know? :)

  • @jcshirke Honestly, I didn't play more than any regular week with this. I don't think it would do anything for beginners for sure, but it did work for me. Don't take me wrong, I'm not talking miracles, but I found it to clean up my technique a bit.

Thanks a lot for the nice words! :-)

  • I saw on their website that this pick cost 35 dollars, is that per pick? or is that a package?

I think 35 dollars for a single pick is too much, even if it improves your Technique!

  • @guysapire It's per pick.. It is an expensive pick, I agree!

  • Thicker pick = less flapping = more direct vibration transfer to the strings

  • Do i saw u have been playing guitar five years? Hiw ol r u? Coz u look like one of those musicians thats have been playing music forever lol?
