These house remixes of Sade songs were on bootleg first because Sade personally rejected all of them. She hated them, but fans were hearing about them and their was a demand and thanks for that these mixes became available :)

Still have this on blue vinyl! You Tube does not do this song justice. You have to listen to this song through some good subs to hear the lows...they are amazing on this track! A packed dance floor, lights flashing and you mix in the HALLELUJAH part of this song...wow..gets no better! Great memories.

What is this? Can't you appreciate the subtlety of the original rather than altering her voice. I don't know if you cared enough to notice this but the tempo for the vocals doesn't match the mix, by the way she sings in a E minor. This was a tribute to the people of Somalia not for a club bop.

There's an even rarer mix they used to play at Tracks Washington DC back in the day. It may have been by another artist called "Shady"... 12" records had it. In this version the "hallelujah" chorus part had some massive synth chords behind it and the beat stopped for a moment during the belting of "hallelujah." Great, great mix. sadly over 15 years later I've yet to find it.

I love Sade's music but I disagree with her sentiments on this record. Some of us pray on are knees and some of us pray in the clubs at 4 a.m. I remember hearing this song and praying and crying for all those who struggle to feed their families and just survive. I cried to the heaven's, "Hallelujah!!"

According to the story I heard about this remix is that it was done without the authorization from SONY Records or Sade, who incidently didn't like the remix because it took away the feeling and the message she was conveying when she recorded it. Hence the Bootleg. Artist integrity means alot and I don't fault Sade because the orginal is powerful without a doubt. It's a great remix.

And I heard it was the record company which said that Sade felt it didn't convey her message - ...in response to Sade asking "How could it?" to them ... meaning that even if the message of this version could be called the same or very relatable to what Sade chose to produce with producers and arrangers, it's someone else's conception, someone else's message. 'How could it be the same' as what Sade chose - it's not - not to state dislike, which was not true.
