  • That is my new slogan "the world is going to get better and better as long as we keep politicians from screwing it up".

  • great videos. yeah im completely of the idea for no president or leader at all, any kind of seat of power and bad people are attracted to it like iron to a magnet, seems like we are just tempting hellbound shits like bush cheney and rumsfeld no?

  • @danogzilla but hey, it's a catchy name :P

  • thanks for putting these up

  • This show was not politically incorrect.

  • @XanaduZune I know. They should have called it the Politically Correct Guide to Politics.

  • @XanaduZune dude he dropped like four n-bombs.

  • 0:50 Yea, there was big change! You died, and a Republican got elected to your seat....whoops.

  • these videos make me so mad ... yet i cant stop watching them O.o

  • John Stossel's kind of a badass

  • @whatisdrunkal You are highly misguided to think that it is the duty of the Executive branch of government to make sure that the top five percent don't have too much money. And like Stossel points out, not every person got wealthy by taking money away from someone else but instead increased available wealth for all and took some of the increased wealth. You seem bitter over someone else's wealth. Whatever. Deal with it man.

Trusting Congress with your paycheck is foolish.

  • @SPFrobber , You may think I'm misguided to assume the role of the president is to protect the common people from being exploited by the rich minority. We have a difference of opinion. Stop parading your opinions like they are facts. I don't think all rich people accumulated wealth by robbing others, I just think limits need to be set so there isn't the kind of unchecked greed that has come to define our nation. It is the workers who produce wealth, and it is sad that they get the shaft so often

  • @whatisdrunkal - You're misguided because you think that government interference in the economy is the solution, and not the very cause of the problem you speak of. The government exploits far more people than any business ever could. Crony Capitalism is a far different beast than capitalism is. Unchecked greed is not a bad thing, but the free market limits that better than the government could. Greed creates businesses, jobs, innovations, makes people's lives better. Government does not.

  • @mpc91 greed does not create all those things, but it does speed up the process, but i would be more than happy to take it slow than have all kinds of suffering in the meantime, and you know you would be more than happy living in a tribe in papua new guinea, we all would

  • @audiofunkdialect - Greed is just another word for people wanting things. But they get those things by making things that people want. Giving people what they want makes you wealthy.

Suffering is caused by government busybodies who think they know better. Rulemakers who slow things down have caused more starvation and death than any business owner ever could, or would.

If you would be happier in Papua New Guinea, than by all means - go. I won't be joining you, thank you very much.

  • Like the video, but I do think regulation is necessary, especially for monopolies and all the frauds on Wall Street. But small businesses, grassroots political campaigns, and public institutions should be free to operate without the pressures from wealthy bureaucrats. Let's make these greedy cocksuckers pay for their crimes, and move forward with the understanding that we're in charge of shaping better future. Because the rich don't give a fuck about you or your problems.

  • @whatisdrunkal

just like it was eluded to in his earlier clip, It is foolishness to allow insiders to make rules to protect the outsiders. You have a comon misconception that the rich only serve themselves. You are right when government is involved with public money, but that goes for the rich and poor alike. For the private enterprise section, you don't get rich by serving yourself, you get rich by serving others.

  • @whatisdrunkal - then the only way you do that is to LET THEM FAIL!!!! if big government didn't bailout AIG then all those big bonuses would never have been paid! the same goes for GM and Chrysler, LET THEM FAIL! Then it would force the corrupt unions and the fat cat management back to the bargaining table to hammer out agreements that work! if not, then they FAIL...I say LET THEM FAIL

  • @mikebri527 , Right on! Failure is a critical aspect of our economy. It's what moves us forward. I don't know what I was talking about earlier, not one of my best posts. We shouldn't have to protect these fuck ups with our tax dollars.

  • @whatisdrunkal What crimes did those greedy cocksuckers commit? You seem like a guy who has a great understanding of what has happened and know where to go from here (I'm teasing you). I think if we rush through more legislation (already being done) then we get more and more and more and more and more and more and more unintended consequences.

Yeah, fuck those rich guys. Kick their ass Obama! And gimme my money check brotha

  • @SPFrobber , I think the way our entire system is set up is criminal. Goldman Sach betting against our market, CEOs manipulating balance sheets to rob people out of their life's savings. Companies taking out life insurance policies on their own employees so that they're worth more dead than alive. If you don't think these are than go fuck yourself asshole. We have more money than any country in the world and yet it belongs to 5% of our population. And Obama's not doing a fucking thing about this

  • @SPFrobber , you say more legislation is not the answer without going into any specifics. Not all legislation is bad moron! Why don't you try to read deepper into the issue before firing off a few ignorant comments. I'll admit it, I don't know much when it come to wallstreet, but I can tale a step back and realize that there are some fundamental problems with a country that allows so much money to rest in the hand of so few. You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows.

  • @whatisdrunkal Well yeah we need some regualtion buddy but most of modern legislation is misguided and often does things few people understand. On the surface it looks good but often it has misunderstood consequences. As for GS betting against the market, ha ha ha, oh man. Anybody can make an investment to hedge their risk in case the market goes down. You do sound like you are working with a limited knowledge of some of these things. Companies should take out life insurance to hedge risk, buddy

  • @SPFrobber You laugh at the fact that GS bet against the market that they were responsible for? Come one! That is fucked up. You know, there's a reason why it's illegal for me to take out a fire insurance policy on your house. Because then I would have a vested interest in watching it burn down. The same logic could be applied to these massive firms who by their shear size can crash markets and profit from the destructive impact that effects millions. You see my point?

  • @whatisdrunkal Wow. It seems pretty obvious that you just hate when people get too rich as deemed by yourself. Pretty lame dude. Pretty lame.

  • I like the video, but

  • all those creations came from white people.

  • rothschild family have 500 trillion dollars and have all central banks in the world , federal reserve is just one bank they own...

  • they're jews.

  • They did WTC!!!1!111

  • my personal opinion, i think the same, that the politic doesnt make america great, it was the people of the usa, they did it, just my thinking.

  • I want someone to make a t-shirt that says:

"Want my vote? Then leave me alone to solve my own problems meaning:

    1. Quit trying to fix the economy, you suck at it,

    2. Quit trying to save my house, you suck at it,

    3. Quit trying to save the earth, you suck at it,

    4. Quit trying to solve my health care, you suck at it,

    5. Start trying to lower EVERONE'S taxes (including the rich),

    5. AND START TRYING TO SOLVE THE U.S. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S MASSIVE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF DEBT TO CHINA!!!!"

  • Is it ok if I copy your comment and spam it on lots of different videos?

  • No. Don't spam.

It turns people off of the message. However, you could maybe do a video about this message. I can't because I am searching for a job and SchnickTech videos are mainly, (for now), for a prospective employer to see. Please just try and find another way to spread this message.

  • Awesome stuff!!!

  • "the government's role is to balance the budget and protect you from foreign threats" -- and that's it. Nothing else.

Why can't the idiots in Washington understand this?

  • @jryan1971

I would also add to the role of government is to protect the poor from the rich, if you don't do that you just get rulers you can't vote out.

  • There will always be less rich than there are poor, and if the poor realize this...the Rich better hope they're being fair.

  • @EpicDude86

Yes, there are less rich people than there are poor, and they're unlikely to ever be a majority. However, rich people still have more influence in setting the direction of our society by controlling politics and most mass media channels. At least they do now, it doesn't have to be this way.

  • That's what I'm saying. A pacifier only works so long, until they have to get a new one or the people stand up.

  • Actually, the proper role of government in a truly free society is restricted to three roles:

    1. Military - to protect us from foreign invaders, who want to loot and enslave us

    2. Police - to protect us from domestic criminals, who also want to loot and enslave us

    3. Court - to settle honest disputes among citizens and punish domestic criminals according to objective rule of law

This is the system laissez-faire, and it is the only moral system, because it works both in theory & practice.

  • 1)You don't use the threat of government to prove that you need government.

2)The police do not protect you. By the time the burglar or a murderer is in your house it is too late to call 911. Most of time the police commit acts of extortion because the government pretty much has a monopoly on roads.

3)Most people settle disputes privately or through arbitration. The court system is mostly out of reach of the common folk.

  • There was once a time in this country that pretty much everyone was like you and me; libertarians. Yet even then when the government was restricted to the roles you outline the government still got bigger. Why repeat the same mistake again?

  • You, sir or madam, don't talk sense. I don't have time for this nonsense.

  • Modern Liberalism happened. World Wars happened. Fear Mongering Happened. Shit happens, we can adapt.

  • get out your guns....YES WE CAN!

  • Very interesting arguments Dave - Of course, there is no reply...No arguing with reasoning

  • An assertion is not an arguement.

  • You sir just described Minarchism. And I love you. +1

  • I prefer the term "Laissez-faire" personally, but if it is all the same to you I am not bothered in the slighest.

  • If you're flinging around words like "moral," can I ask you, is it morally wrong to steal from someone? How can you justify an entity that steals from people to support the military, police, and courts. What happens to me if I don't want to pay for those things in your ideal society? Will you leave me alone or will you, like in western societies, come for me, armed, locked and loaded to throw me in a room where I have a good chance of being raped?

  • Taxation in a free society shall be entirely voluntary.

However, this will almost certainly be the LAST step towards a free society, rather than the first.

  • I bet you would like the philosophy of Thoreau.

  • "...Idiots in Washington..."

You answered your question in your question.

  • Finally someone in the media with decency

  • funny how this is aired o abc yet abc like all the other major media outlets is controlled by the elites (much like the elites) so i wonder how/why they let this bit of 'treason' of 'unpatriotic' talk get by

    i say

1 its too late to stop them so they dont care

2 ....i guess thats it just no 1

  • no, they most likely wanted to use John Stossel when people accused them of being biased so they could say "no we're not, we have a libertarian on our program, we're no biased" its just to cover their own asses. Which I'm fine with, no one else would have put him on, sept maybe fox

  • It just shows that conspiracy theories..aren't true

  • maybe you didnt see my number 1.

and the going off the definition of conspiracy and theory, just cause there is a conspiracy theory dosnt mean its not true.

    example 9/11

1 conspiracy theory is the government is behind it. the govt. conspiracy theory is that 19 hijackers are behind it. one is true on e is a lie, both conspiracy theories

  • If you want a better life...DO IT YOURSELF!!! DUH! Don't rely on the government to pull you out of everything! Ever since i was a little kid I never wanted to rely on my parents for anything, i love them, i didn't want to burden them. However, the American government has become the controlling parent you must hate...

  • Stossel is the bomb

  • this reporter rocks...he is always bringing out the truth to the surface.....

    thanx

  • In a nutshell, this is an open letter to all governments in all the world.

You wanna know the best thing you can possibly do for your people?

    LEAVE THEM THE HELL ALONE!!

  • the trouble with "us " running the country is that 90% of "us" have one thing more important that the country . it is the weekend . .its what the silent majority live for . the high point in the average mans life

  • I'm not clear why you think that's a problem. What's wrong with weekends? What's wrong with leisure? Instead of fixing my home or repairing my car, should I be volunteering my time for a government run work-project? How is it that politicians can know if a project is worthwhile, but private individuals can't? Henry Ford revolutionized industry, even though many would have called his plan risky. What has the gov't done which is akin to that?

  • Aurini,i did not make myself clear . what i meant was the weekenders or otherwise called the silent majority , do not care about anything but their weekends . they sure dont care if the country is being run into the ground ..or that the politicians and their bosses are raping them . they just want to have Fun on the weekend . they dont even question because they do not care.

  • I think I understand you.

Personally, I'm in favour of a restricted suffrage - be it property ownership, income, IQ, or whatever - a universal suffrage leads to bread and circuses, dictatorship - the problem with our current politicians is that they attract the idiots you mention.

  • I think the best part of this series is that it points out a really motivational truth, that only you can change your life, that no one can make you happy except you. In fact, you can see some parallels between government intervention and human behaviour; people try to control others, situations in order to be happy...for five minutes, until something goes wrong, or they realize things aren't as their minds dreamed. If our culture is so ingrained with such beliefs..how can we change?

  • I think that the greatest flaw in humanity is that no one questions him or herself. We all assume we are fine the way we are, it is everyone else, or some other situation that needs to change (INCLUDING the government must be abolished for me to be happy, although I know "anarchists" don't think this way). I think that if we really studied our human nature, and invited awareness into how we think and behave, so much could be improved..and not in the sense that "i need more anti-depressants"

  • That last line referred to the idea that people would cover up their problems with drugs (or alcohol) instead of understanding and resolving them. That is what people really need, and I think any political system would work if humans were more 'evolved'. Instead we try what Einstein wouldn't have recommended (in my view): As he said..."No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it."

  • fuck politics, let's dance.

  • its easier to live with your eyes closed than to have your eyes open and think.

  • who's talkin "closed" eyes???...my eyes are wide open when i'm shakin the rump...to the bump of the bass throb.

silly slut, "poly" means many...and "ticks" are nasty parasites that spread LIME disease...

now isn't "dancing" starting to sound a bit better?

  • Politicians and diapers should be changed often and for the same reason.

Ron Paul is 1st politician in many decades to come along and be worthy of standing in the presence of the founding fathers!

I am an American and I always had a pride in our nation even as a young boy.

But now my illusions have been smashed by the scum we call our "leaders".

We are on a collision course with totalitarianism, poverty, and possibly even a "real" war that may kill tens of millions.

    Hope I'm wrong

  • right dis pooooooey reyt der iz not right for da taking livky? ya dig? kk den

    ma pousse 2k8

    remember the name babez

    politics is shaaaart

  • Ron Paul is the true man of change. America has been so dumbed down. We have lost our wealth to private bankers and greedy politicians, and our minds to the media and Marxist university elitists.

  • Ron Paul advocated all those libertarian values. Yet only a small percentage of people know about him.

  • 17Spartacus76 wrote: "The same thinking was present behind the second amendment. Let every citizen be able to arm themselves and no foreign invader would be stupid enough to start a ground war." - and just how does it stopped 9/11 from happening ??

  • It stopped General Tojo and his army in Japan from doing a ground invasion of the US coast during World War 2. If some of the passengers aboard those airplanes had their own guns then 9/11 would never have happened.

  • Even if there were only some pilots with guns, or flight attendants with guns, or air marshals with guns. The 2nd Amendment didn't stop 9/11 from happening because it wasn't given the opportunity.

  • It goes even deeper. If the public hadn't been so thoroughly trained to never take responsibility, to always obey authority, to look to others for defence, then all of the planes might have fought back. The principles underlying the 2nd Amendment have been washed out of the zeitgeist.

  • Yeah, that's a good point. Interesting fact, I actually knew one of the guys who helped fight back for and retake the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania.

  • You knew a hero, brother. My heart goes out to you for his loss.

  • Best program that has ever been aired on television. Too bad people don't rip the politicians out of office.

  • politicians, like everyone else, have a place, and a job that needs to be done, the problem is that they over-step their authority, and meddle in things they really cant improve. and why do they do this? because when everything goes wrong people automatically look for someone ELSE to blame, to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. If the guy at the top is going to get it in the neck then he's going to want to be in charge of it all.

  • Exactly. In reality politicians aren't responsible for all the problems, often, the only one to blame is the complexity of the system. But politicians, eager to get elected, meddle in those areas where they shouldn't, just to prevent something from happening.

This is the same notion as a preemptive strike. Bombing someone to prevent them from bombing you is redundant.

  • I am not so sure we need them. With todays communications we can all vote on everything.

This would "protect" congress people from the temptation to sell their votes. IO bet we could balance the budget in a week without them in the way if we only funded things authorized by the Constitution.

  • You're talking about a direct democracy.

    Which is a horrible idea.

We need to remain a republic.

  • John Stossel is absolutely brilliant. We need more programs like this on television.

  • I wish more people seen this before the elections.5 stars.

  • viva libertad.

  • pick 'n bitch....criticize and whine.....

    america.....

  • Innovation.

  • I agree with Libertarian333 that "the notion that people need rulers is absurd."

I am all for counter-economics and gray market activities to try to move away from centralized government, HOWEVER, I also recognize that that is a long way off For the time being, though I dont like it, there will be government, so I can only wish that that government be as small and nonintrusive as possible.

  • This is so right... Isnt this EXACTLY what Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine said? That government is a necessary evil, and that laws and regulations should be formed by mutual interest and society, not governmnet? I'm only 14 and i understand this better than some U.S. Senators.

  • It's good to see that the entirety of our education system is not in the toilet.

    Bravo! You are exactly right!

  • That is because you pay attention. When they interview these politicians, listen to what they say and the view that they take like they know better than the average people. I heard Mccain say that on tv before. These supposed hand outs we aren't going to really get are just smoke and mirrors to get some one to vote. Change is only a word unless you make it happen. It happens by real desires and actions. Not just some guy on tv saying that he will make things happen and he is the only one.

  • totally agree, this is an interesting quote from Thomas Paine's Age of Reason. "All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."

  • @bruiserwareagle I would go one step further, and say that the Government is not a necessary evil. What reason do we have to suspect that a tax-funded monopoly (government) is the best way to run things like police, road building, etc?

  • @bruiserwareagle Don't forget those lessons of our founders! We need more young people to remember what makes America so grand - the people, not the gov't.

  • @publicanimal Sorry but all those young people are socialist communist because thats what their teachers taught them to be. Looks like its just the rest of us left.

  • Wasn't it Bush that wanted everyone to take their social security and invest in the stock market? Under Bush we have seen more government bureaucracy not less. He has grown the government. What has happen to the republicans that want less government? What is going on here???!!!! Maybe both parties want more government so they can have more control over your lives.

  • They are one in the same, left or right. They may say different things but in the end it is hard to find much of a difference in the actual voting record. If republicans were for less government then we would have had a balance budget during the time they had control, but the debt doubled(i think or close to it).

  • FREE KURDISTAN!!!!!!!!!!

  • i too am a wanker who likes politics....RED RED RED RED RED RED RED RED

  • This video is spot on.

Just to throw my two cents in... Um, how many countries with governments do you think would be chomping at the bit to wipe us off the planet and/or incorporate us into THEIR government if we abolished all of OUR government? It's elementary, people. This notion of total anarchy is an outdated one... by about 10,000 years!

  • Sorry, accidentally marked this as spam.

How about if we load mccommie and obamacommie and the rest of congress on a plane that constantly circles the globe and threaten to air drop them on any country that attacks us?

  • No country has ever attacked another one that has nukes in it's possession.

MAD is a powerful deterrent to war. It's morbid, but it works.

    Plus is cheap.

The same thinking was present behind the second amendment. Let every citizen be able to arm themselves and no foreign invader would be stupid enough to start a ground war.

  • "A vote for freedom is never a wasted vote. Write in RON PAUL!"

A vote for freedom is a contradiction in terms. Liberty and the state are antithetical to each other. Direct action, not politics, is the only path towards freedom. A reformed slavery is still slavery. It is only through abolition of state power and corporate privilege, from the bottom up, through civil disobedience and the building of voluntary alternatives to statist institutions, that we will find any liberty.

  • Libertarian333

Nobody would bother to count your Ron Paul vote so vote Chuck Baldwin.

  • Actually it WAS politically funded agencies that created the internet and rockets to the moon (ARPA and NASA) but they were funded for defence reasons - which is a legitimate place for government involvement. But anyway, our lives were only really changed by those innovations when market forces adopted them (e.g. the proliferation of commercial satellites and the world wide web).

  • "Actually it WAS politically funded agencies that created the internet and rockets to the moon (ARPA and NASA)"

So? If and when it was worth the cost to them, free people would create them on their own. In fact, had it not been for the government's meddling with, and eventual takeover of, the airwaves, the information age probably would've began many decades earlier with widespread radio usage. Homesteading frequencies in place of licensing (+fees) worked fine until the government stepped in.

  • Well, I'm about to become unpopular.

The government is an unparalleled resource for progress and change. Who put a man on the moon? Who built and equipped an army to defeat Hitler and Japan? Who built the A-Bomb (for better or worse). The computer, ENIAC, was first designed and built by the government, and yes the internet also. I could go on.

Let us be clear, it is not the government that is the problem, its who runs the government that can be a problem.

  • Look at the things you just listed. They're all international / interplanetary. No one is arguing that the Government should be completely abolished - the Constitution was in part founded for a "strong national defense". Everything you listed started out as a defense project. However, there are still dozens of examples in this hour-long special of things being fucked up by the Government.

An equilibrium is ideal. A little bit of Government is a good thing.

  • "No one is arguing that the Government should be completely abolished"

I am. The notion that people need rulers is absurd.

"A little bit of Government is a good thing."

A "little bit" of thievery, murder, and enslavement is most certainly not a good thing. If it can be done without initiating violence against others, it doesn't need a government, because that's all governments do. If you think your desired ends justify use of criminal means, you have no place in civil society.

  • Without a federal Government, there'd be no army. Are you suggesting either a private army, or are you suggesting a band of state militias?

Libertarianism is great form of Government. However, the entire concept of the Constitution was formed in part because state militias couldn't protect interstate / international activities and interests.

  • Politicians didn't build the internet, or rockets to go to the moon.

Just like no politician invented electric light, the telephone, television, the wheel, the diesel engine or fire.

    People did.

Only people who are free to act as they feel can free their spirit to archive the impossible.

It is just like I'm driving in my car, and someone sits on the passengers chair giving me orders how to operate the car.

Must I feel lucky at the end, when we arrive?

Or could I mannage by my self?

  • "it is not the government that is the problem, its who runs the government that can be a problem"

I would say it is even less WHO runs the government that is a problem than WHAT the government is expected or ALLOWED to do, that is, what the role of government is, what its limits are. "if we only had the right leader" ignores the natural limitations of gov't and gives rise to the expectations problem which grows gov't power and hurts us all as this program describes.

  • Good point, the government that governs least is the government that governs best. So long as government is given a messianic feel with "compasionate" social welfare, jobs creation, etc. then we will always be ruled by arrogant, greedy, self-delusional people.

  • Yeah, if FDR had run the Holocaust then it wouldn't have been so bad.

  • lol

  • Bravo, Mr. Stossel. That's the best network program I've seen in years.

  • I don't trust the government to balance a budget of stolen money or to protect me from foreign or domestic threats.

    Market Anarchism!

  • "I don't trust the government to balance a budget of stolen money or to protect me from foreign or domestic threats.

    Market Anarchism!"

    :D

    Agora! Anarchy! Action!

  • Stossel is the best!

I'm a Libertarian, and I love David Boaz and Walter Williams as well!

  • what a breath of fresh air!

  • thanks for posting

I just watched all 6 parts

    Stossell 4 prez!

  • To REALLY learn economics in a fun and entertaining way (or teach your children) have a look at Irwin Schiff's (Peter Schiff's father) comic books on economics:

    takelifeback dotcom/hegawid/

    takelifeback dotcom/moltz/

  • To REALLY learn economics in a fun and entertaining way (or teach your children) have a look at Irwin Schiff's (Peter Schiff's father) comic books on economics:

    takelifeback dotcom/moltz/

  • sounds like stossell is a ron paul supporter :D

  • This was an outstanding story. I am happy that someone somewhere has finally taken up the cause of letting Americans as a group drive this country. This is not a matter of party. Many of the systematic problems we suffer are a direct result of gov't meddling. The people in power know nothing about the things they legislate. Look at price floors in NYC. Look anywhere for that matter. Its a shame we as a nation aren't more educated about these things, then we wouldn't be so easily lied to.

  • If you went to McDonalds for example and they gave you terrible service, awful food in a dirty atmosphere and you decided you would not do business with them again.

So you decide to go to Burger King instead and have the exact same problems would you go back to McDonalds or would you decide they are both bad choices and look elsewhere? It is moronic for people to keep choosing the Democrats and Republicans dammit. Regardless if you vote for McCain or Obama you are screwing your country!

  • This was one of the best things I have seen on TV in years. Holy crap it is about time people start to realize they are in charge and the Govt. is screwing the country up.

Everyone seriously needs to wake up, we cannot go on forever choosing a political party A , letting them screw up the country, so we choose party B to fix everything, they of course screw everything up so then we go back to party A?

  • Disappointing, ideology-driven conclusion. I've noticed that when so-called free marketeers get into power, they do more than anyone else to run our lives for us.

Still, props to the Libertarian Party for fighting to get fair ballot access. Our two-party system is a major part of the problem. Not much better than a one-party system, and sometimes worse.

  • Free marketers haven't been in power for probably over a century, get your facts straight.

    Tax & Spend = Borrow & Spend

    Democrat = Republican

They just want to spend the money on slightly different things.

Name me one president in the past 70 years that has reduced government revenues by any significant amount.

  • Amen to that!

  • YEEEEEEESSSS!!!

  • general rule of thumb: politician=lying piece of shit. (there are exceptions)

  • what an excellent program. thank you john stossel.

  • Jesus! What Austrian Economists like Ron Paul have been preaching for years!! Oh well.

  • Fantastic series

  • Kool video, but we still need a conservative president.

  • What? Stossel is about as conservative as you can get. I hope you're not talking about McCain.

  • What does that mean? Are you saying,"Yeah! A better life is at hand, but I still must vote for a crappy president because only mediocrity is possible?" What a loser.

  • you don't have to vote for mccain or obama I'm writting in Ron Paul screw everyone else Ron Paul has more sense then anyone else running for office.

  • Then you totally missed the point.

  • bush isn't conservative...he is neo-conservative...get it straight

  • This is not going to work anymore. The best jobs in the world can and will be shipped to anywhere in the world with a broadband connection because skilled human resources are much cheaper there. A certain level of government involvement is required, not only in homeland security, but just keeping wealth and wealth creating mechanisms (jobs) within the country.

  • The market system is used to trade wealth for value. So why not make yourself more valuable than those people the jobs are going to?

  • or we lower taxes in the US on large corporations so that jobs will move here because it is cheaper to do so.

  • The reason why it's cheaper in other countries is due to our regulations on employers. To hire here in the U.S. is to acknowledge a tremendous liability due to government regulations (minimum wage being one of the largest transgressions on employer's freedoms) whereas to hire someone in another country allows for plenty of loopholes in that country's laws to avoid costs.

More regulations will only make hiring more costly in the long run, thus causing more outsourcing.

  • I hope this wakes some people up. Never have I been more disgusted with American's. When I stop and think how many of them are ready to vote a socialist into office it sickens me! Read and learn the CONSTITUTION people!

  • Europe only thrived because the economic giants of France Britain and Germany where exploiting the poorer countries as a unified state.

and now even the european economy is in the burge of collapse. Another fine example of this ass dragg goverment system "the USSR" to fell. This is really pathetic. -__-"

Walefare only creats a society of lazy people who have no drive.

  • damn, you have got to be kidding. Really sad to know that there are a lot of people like you who continue to support this bloated government and politicians like McBama.

  • I'm not an investor. None of my friends are investors. None of my neighbors are investors. In fact, I don't believe I know a single investor. Additionally, I don't know anyone on welfare. I lived in abject poverty for months before educating myself about computers using the internet and found a better job. Besides, what constitutional authority does any part of the federal government have using my tax dollars for a project that I may or may not support? Socialism doesn't stick around...

  • You've fallen for the "Broken Window" fallacy, which says that if a shopkeeper's window gets broken, it's good for the economy because someone will be paid to fix the window, never realizing that the shopkeeper could've used the money for something more productive, like buying a new set of tools. The money taken by government to "invest" with inventors is no longer available to the people to spend as they see fit. The motivation of govt.-funded inventor is to drag his feet and keep getting paid.

  • Next your going to say is recycling is a good thing because it creates jobs and saves resources. News flash, the only money there is in recycling is the subsidies the government puts into it. There is actually more pollution created when recycling because of the hauling of the plastic or whatever to the plant then processed etc.

  • Businesses have no legal authority over you, you idiot. Businesses cannot steal money from you through taxation. Businesses cannot prevent you from seeking certain types of work. Businesses cannot for you to buy their product.

Government is supposed to exist for the purpose of preventing any such force against you.

As government grows the line between business and government shrinks until exactly what you fear become reality.

Man I hate stupid, ignorant people like you.

  • if you think you Europe is thriving look no further then their fiat monetary system...

  • Stossel's best work to date???
