Words cannot describe this films power and how it makes you see life afterwards. I've been taking life so stupidly over the years, treating friends badly, being miserable and thinking that I'm just going to live on life as an ordinary worthless person. But this film has made me see how great friendship really is, and that you should never let go of hope. If people could see this film like I did, we wouldn't need prisons.

I love this film. The start of this year hasn't been the best for me, I lost my job, I hardly saw my friends and when I did, it felt akward. I felt like I didn't have much to be happy about. But I told myself that things would get better. There is still hope. I will get a new job, I will make new friends and I will be happy again. This scene has lifted my spirits up.

It helps even with usual things through the day - like when the weather is bad in the morning, raining and all that, and it's a morning which is supposed to be a jogging morning. So I just watch that as usual, get fueled up, and I just go. Even if it's raining really hard. So, yeah, It helps. God damn right.

To think they originally wanted people like Tom Hanks, Charlie Sheen (shudder), Nicolas Cage (another shudder), Tom Cruise, or Kevin Costnir -who said no to the offer and later regretted it- as Andy. This is the best movie I have ever seen! I think it's about freedom, in the prison you see how bad it is, and Andy was innosent of the crime he was getting in prison for, he digged that tunnel, and crawled in crap and came out clean on the other side, he was free.
