  • I didn't know it was possible for Doc to make a mistake. I love his music and him even more now.

  • thats one of the things that makes it purty doc is the man

  • What a neat guy Doc is. God Bless you guy.

  • Wonderful, I've a lot of Doc just by listening "lp's"..

  • Who doesn't love Doc! Check out the fingerboard as they do closeups. EVERY fret position is worn! LOL! This man is magic.

  • that harmonized ending to the melody line is incredible.

  • Sehr gut Nagyon jo.Verry good

  • By the looks of the videos I have seen of Doc I can tell he is a wonderful person. Seeing him smile and laugh makes me glad and love his guitar picking even more.

  • I must have been too busy - for too long -and missed Doc Watson. For so many years he was a name I heard, - and a type of industrial shoe ? ! Bless that Doc, (not surprising I'd heard the name ! ) - and Mr. Kaufman gets my vote for the compair. I hope the lesson-givers are taking note of how to do it, too !

  • Doc is 86 years old now. I was lucky enough to see him this summer in Sugar Grove, N. Carolina. He played with his grandson Richard Watson, (Merle's son) and Charles Welch. I have four or five vids of the live performance posted on my channel here on You Tube. Go to Grasshopperslim and check them out if you like Doc!

  • wow!

  • I saw Doc and David Holt at the Newberry Opera house, front row seats. Doc is amazing to watch. 83 years old and can play for hours. David is an excellent banjo player and they work well together.

    Great show

  • Look good folks! Doc Watson is a living legend. We only have these treasures for a short time. Let's appreciate Doc now, while he is still with us. Such a brilliant, humble man! I could sit down with him and talk or play for hours. A person could really learn something from someone like Doc Watson, about playing ugitar AND about life.

  • "Some old bro"? Come on man. You must have got lost looking for 50 cent.

  • @McMillan753

dude, get a clue!!! Refering to Doc Watson as some "Old Bro" is a insult to anyone who know anything about the pioneers in flatpicking. There's a ton a instructional material on homespun tapes...go check out their web site, order some of Doc's stuff, practice for the rest of your life and you'll still never be as good this "old bro"!!!!!!

  • haha

    he says 'pertty'

  • Doc is a legend and one of the few Bluegrass artists with real swing-jazz players will know what I mean. Many new Bluegrass hotshots sacrifice feel for speed and metronomic precision, losing much of what makes music, musical.

  • I absolutely love ol' Doc!

  • That harmony was nice

  • This man does a great job, keep up the good job

  • Is there any way to get slow playback on Youtube? It's hard enough to pick up the fills even when they low it down for the lesson. Doc Watson is expecially hard to follow since he plays so close to the fretboard. The other guys rips it up as well !! Great Stuff ...

  • I would suggest importing the video into a program like sony vegas (pro/platinum) and slowing it down in the program. You are right about Doc being very strict and close to the fretboard. He needs to be since he is blind as you know. I guess the reason why he never seems to let one finger move freely as Steve does, is a safety factor since making the use of chordshapes and having all fingers in the ready position makes it easier for him to find his way around the fretboard, being blind.

  • no problem picking this one up - 10 minutes of practice should do it

  • Doc is the BEST. Thanks for putting this up; it was very helpful for picking up on some of the right hand stuff.

  • thank you DOC!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing

  • great!

  • Another one for the must buy list, it's like hands on history with one of the greats as well as music lessons.

  • I've never found one of his albums less than amazing. If they were vinyl I'd have worn them out by now.
