  • hi there i very new to this ktm 4stroke.and i got problam i owned this bike 1month ktm 400 2002 exc .has smoke coming out of the bit were head and exhaust joins...i not clear what it could be please could somebody help..i have bilt 2strokes befor so im not affaid av go please help

  • Thanks for the video. Just finished up a valve adjustment on a 05 450EXC. Only thing I struggled with was getting the engine in the correct position to measure each valve but I figured it out. When the valves are closed you can loosen up the adjusters and the lifters will move slightly.

  • Does the work on a 07 450exc

  • BEAUTIFU SERVICE !

  • too bad its a KTM.

  • @KTMisFORfaggots how old r u? 11?

  • @meda789 im your father.

  • @meda789 im your father. you shouldnt be using the internet johnny boy.

  • @Megatron6669

The 300xc is a two stroke... Therefore no valves... Only reed

  • would this be the same on my 07 450sx-f ??

  • Hey there, thanks a lot for the video. I have a question; do ktm RFS clutches usually have a bit of drag on them when you have it in gear with clutch in? My bike wants to creep forward. Thanks.

  • thanks Travis

  • would this process work on a 1995 620 rxc?

  • great video, doesn't look to bad at all..

  • i realized a loss of power of my ktm450smr 2004. any ideas besides valve adjustment?

  • What is the difference on the 03+ 525 sx models? He says its a little different for these models?

  • i got a 03 525exc thats how i's do it. never removed my rads either

  • I was trying to do this on my 300xc but I can't seem to find the valves, anywhere. WTF?

  • @Megatron6669 You got ripped off!!!! They stole your valves!!!

  • Great video. Can you make on for the new engine. I have a ktm 250 excf 2008, and i would like to have a video of valve adjustment and oil change and more, So easy when you can see how its done. Keep it up.

  • Is the opening 0.12mm for all KTM 250-530?

  • does this work on my 2005 525 exc? it's look same...

  • I have a 2003 450 sx, can I do it this way?

  • i cant move my back wheel at all whit a gear in. to heavy. i hawe a ktm 525sx

  • Excellent video!

How do I know when and how often to check/adjust? It was done at 27hours and now I'm at 45 hours. I'm sort of new to this. Should I take it in or is it fairly easy?

    Thanks!

  • I have a Feeler gauge that i think is ITL brand. It says on one end .005 if I flip on that end says .13, on the other end it says .004 if I flip it, it says .10

Why would they round up the number is my question? Especially if something is call for .12

  • His feeler gauge is that a ktm specific one as it has a fixed curve, can you buy it at a ktm store, good video but could be Greater if it had better lighting around top of engine and to get the camera closer to the valves without losing the sharpness of the picture to see the action of the valves to get TDC couldn't see what was going on . maybe time for a revamped version

also he said its different for the 03 525exc anyone why ?

  • Same for RC4 engines? Specifically 2008 XC-F?

  • Very detailed, accurate how-to video. This guy knows what he's doing and helped me save $100! Although it took me a long time to disassemble, adjust and reassemble, with practice I can cut my time in half and save hundreds.

  • Great video! Thanks!!

  • Hi there, I have a 525 exc 05 model, this video won't work for me right? My head is very noisy so i'm hopeing it just needs the valves adjusted and the manual is hard to find procedures for adjusting anything...

  • 5 Thousanths of an Inch = 0.127MM :-)

  • I guess I have a whimpy feeler gage because it keept wiggling and buckling as I tried to slip it in. I did the 1/6 turn method and the bike runs great and fires up quickly. It got so far out before the battery would go dead trying to start the bike. I even got a bruise on my arch!!. Thanks again. Dont pay the dealer. Be brave. Just Do it.

  • thanks for the vidieo same process for 06 450 mxc ?

  • I live in Finland, so it would be a little too expensive, but thanks for the offer. :D

  • OK, sorry I could not be of more help at this time. We do plan on creating a valve adjustment video for the newer motors once we get settled into our new shop.

  • Does this work on my 2008 250 SXF? The engine looks a little bit different...

  • Different motor with a different process for adjusting the valves. You can call the shop at 661-424-1800 and ask for Travis. We moved our shop from Pasadena to Canyon Country a couple of months ago so things are still a little crazy.

  • Would somebody be so kind and write down the instructions starting from 3:00 to 5:00.

I'm hungarian and having difficulties to translate what the hell should I do with the wheel...

  • Well I hope this is the same procedure for an Lc4....I have used this twice now and am about to watch it again for my 3rd adjustment/inspection. I always forget how to find TDC +1 great video. Question: I called the dealer and he said that your way isnt the correct way. He said there is spring tension and you must not inspect. He said it will give a false reading. He said the only way is to smash the screw down on the guage and tighten? Any Thoughts? Im new to valves.

  • dustybowlz lc4 is a different motor than an rfs but they are also an easy job

  • You can do an LC4 the exact same way

  • Your dealer just wants to get your money

  • Thanks mate! I had you set up on my workbench and paused it each step of the way. Too easy once I worked out TDC. Cheers Clint Melb Australia

  • Will this proicedure work with the new KTM 525xc quad?? Please get back to me asap!
