@lordtiberius The video is good entertainment. I would prefer that you use a ficticious unit with ficticious characters and events. Some of the content can be misinterpreted and bring discredit to the good men and women in our armed forces. Thank you for posting the video. Even though I'm somewhat of a critic about the finer points. Overall, I like your work.
@guntruckLT Thanks for your input. The opening statement of the video implies that transporters were expected to turn and run from an attack. I knew that statement couldn't be true. I knew that the Ohio National Guard was better than that. Thanks for making that clear for everyone. Also the video does imply that Lt. McCormick endorses the petty characterization that divideds the team members. I'm glad to know that he does not... "One Team. One Fight."
This video Episode 5 shows how poorly trained and unprofessional the writer is. I find it hard to believe that the Commanders of the Ohio National Guard expected it's transporters to "Turn and Run". I'm also a bit disappointed that an American Military Officer would point out the members of his team who in his opinion were considered to be "willing, unwilling or unwelcome". A great leader can bring the best out of a team no matter what their weaknesses. Was this intended to be "pay-back"?
@MrBaddPat I am glad you liked the video. I spent 9 years in active service and 3 years in the Reserves, 5 of those years were with the Special Operations community. Again, thank you for your comment.
@MrBaddPat What officer pointed out those willing or unwilling, you dont think that Lt McCormick made this if so he did not! The concept developed was turn, fix, fire, not run that was not the standard of any 518 GT or units trained by the 518th, as for "pay back" what possibley would the XO "LT" have to give pay back for? anyone who knew that officer also knew he had no problem with going to people and pointing out directly the issues not in a video, thats for cowards and not his style.

@lordtiberius Jimbo, I am sure you have your reasons for insulting me and yet trying to make me out to be some sort of hero which I am not. I love the Army and everything about it, that was my life for 22 years and in two wars my friend and God has blessed me and allowed me to live through it and retire and I will not slap the face of the Army or this country and if they called me back I would go again anytime anyplace under any command because thats what soldiers do. I am loyal to the cause.
@lordtiberius Now now Lordtiberious AKA Jimbo, I will be forced to make you stand in the corner if you keep this up and you wont get any pudding if you dont eat your meat! (Ha I stole that line from Pink Floyd)
Just wanted to comment on some things here, first I am the officer spoke of in this series, I have never now will ever consider myself a "War Hero" in fact I can not stand that title and have asked the maker of these to take that off. The 518th was and is a team of 63 soldiers that were called to do something many would not do. I am no war hero folks but i sure had a bunch of them in this unit and each of them are great Americans that deserve all the credit.
i am an ia nat guard soldier and several of my friends were in the 518th. the replacements that u are talking about were not even drivers they were gun bunnies.
Of course support soldiers could do the job. I was with the 1073rd Maint. Co. and we operated out of TQ. Yes, we were supposed to be mechanics but some of us volunteered for convoy escort duty. I had a M923A2 named Nitetrain. It was long days(and nights) but someone has to do it. We did good for "a bunch of mechanics".
The trans companies we worked with were pretty good, at least for the first 6 months, then their replacements came, that's when we ran into all sorts of problems with the truckers and their leadership. So yes, I agree with what you're saying.
sorry for the delay, don't get on here to often. the replacements came in around june/july if I remember correctly. it was 4 years ago, i forget dates on trivial stuff like that.
i done convoy security but through a private security company total maddness but to be fair the lads i was with were spot on got into some right good old firefights, gettin ambushed comin into BIAP was a regular event for us and route irish what a nightmare, i got hit with in IED in kirkuck day after my birthday charming!! LOL
I gotta say thanks to that Cpt. Landry, the Col and the Gen. Thanks to them I was able to volunteer to be part of the very first history making, U.S. Air Force Gun Truck Company.
Do you realize that u aren't fighting for your country, you're just risking your life so that some ppl, some corps have more power, more money, more control? Did you ever read the Patriotic Act? Do you really know what it means to you? Do you know who's behind Contracted Security in middle east? and why? and how they are payed?
Bodacious468, you are aa very young person with no real idea of what you say, this is why you resort to childish comments like this one. Many great Americans fight for your freedom every single day and you are to spoiled and inmature to see it. Look around you as you play your music and think real hard about what you say before you say it. Take care and try to explore the real and true meaning of being an American.
Fuck you punk. I was on those roads. Have you ever been in a fire fight? Have you? I have these guys do. I had no armor at all. at the end all we had was medal plates that all we had. I'm I a hero No. Heros are the ones who don't come home. Show respect or theres the door see your self out.
Yea I checked that Bodacious guy out he is some kid just feeling strong from behind a computer. Thanks for standing with us here and in Iraq, I wish I had 50 soldiers like you.
I can never change your mind, your views are based on second and third hand information, internet Blog sites and assumptions. The truth is we fight in Iraq for the freedom of those who want it, we also fight in Iraq to hunt down and destroy terrorist that are wanting to come to free nations and do as they done in the US on 9-11 and in England and in Germany and in Rome and in Isreal and in Africa and on the open seas. We fight to rid the world of terrorism for everyone in the free world.
If i say that maintaining the Irak war (and any other war your government involved)is wonderful for those same people that, at the same time, send you to irak, offer their services to the gov, get payed and, amanzingly, work for the government, would you believe me?
I am european, why do i know so much more about your own country politics than you? You're watching to much CNN type tv. Wake up man, CNN is science fiction. If you want links and docs about the real world (not conspiracy exagerated stuff) say something.
Amazing series of videos. This unit serves as inspiration to Transportation soldiers and the US Army in general. Amazing job. Glad to see that the Army implemented a lot of the ideas that you created.
