  • Dude you should check out this book called The Vault by Dave Tate. It's helped me some, it should help you. The tips are really really useful, it might help you out. It's free too so that's a plus.

  • @RTwithJosh Yeah usually if I fail out of the hole its because the weight gets forward on me so its almost always that my back collapses.

Its free is it? Nice. Is it like a download of elitefts.com or something?

  • Does, it seem like ur falling foward once u get out of the hole?

  • @Ratt2005

you should look relatively straight, maybe up 25-35 degree angle up at most. Try to sink your head back more instead of looking up. It might possibly be a hip flexibility thing to so i would do something to stretch the hip flexors.

  • @RTwithJosh I'll have to try that cuz obviously simply looking up isnt doing enough. I'll make sure I work on it but for the most part, I'm a pretty flexible guy. Recently though, I adjust my bar height to make it a little higher on my traps so it lays across my shoulders a little bit and that definitrely helped. The issue Im still having, as you can probably tell, is I cant get my chest up, from the beginging of the lift so out of the gate I am forward.

  • @RTwithJosh I just have trouble pulling everything underneath me. Any advice for that?

  • @Ratt2005

i saw ur nationals video, if ur not doing this already. i cant really tell but this helped me with leaning forward some, it to shove ur neck back to help keep upper back tightness. its hard to explain but basically try to give urself a double chin like ur trying to look fat in the face. its helped me out while squatting with the usually ways to keep upper back tight like pinching the shoulder blades together and down.

  • @RTwithJosh Yeah, I understand exactly what your trying to say. No I can't say I actually do that, I just try to force my chin up and look up to keep my shoulders and upper back tight. But Im gonna give what you said a try, got another max effort day Friday so might as well try it haha

  • I think it's because the weight started moving ahead of your mid-foot, which forced you to rotate instead of drive up. This is likely due to you leaning too far forward when you sit back. I would suggest not sitting so far back, breaking your knees at the same time you unlock your hips, push your knees out and descend down more (also will help you get depth, since you're a little high).

Good news is you're not doing anything dangerous--just a little inefficient. Keep cranking bro!

  • @mamba12ga1 Definitely makes alot of sense. And it worked! Hit a nice PR at Nationals (you can see the vid on my channel) and I definitrely feel like I found some balance between sitting back and bending the knees. I really appreciate the advice!

Glad to be of help. Congrats on the PRs--both lifts looked really good, and the squat looked dynamite for a 1RM.
