Yes, the tune tends to change over time and especially from congregation to congregation. There is no reason for it, really, but it is somewhat organic.
That's more or less the same tune I learned back in the day, except 00:18 to 00:28 is completely different. And it's strange, if you look at other videos of the chatsi kaddish, the tune is completely different from yours and mine. What's the story about the variation? Other prayers, like the V'ahavta, are also completely different in melody from the way I learned. Strange.
After 55 years, I decided to actually learn the hatzi kadish...especially since I have to lead the congregation in the hatzi kadish this weekend!! Thank you. your work helped immensely!

@flavoredwallpaper There is really no 'correct' way. Everything, including Torah trop, is also minhag and not standard throughout the Jewish world.
