The "Nightengale of the Bolshoi!" To me, his voice is very Heaven.. Easily one of the

most beautiful tenor voices ever recorded! Sobinov's refined, eloquent & poetic

art goes beyond sensuous pleasure..He was an inspiration & potent artistic in-

fluence on his own & succeeding generations of singers including Sergei

Lemeshev. Sobinov enjoyed a stellar international career & his legendary

triumphs as Lensky & Lohengrin confirm beyond doubt his exalted standing

in opera history. TY, Tim!

Absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this. Sobinov was an immaculate technician and stylist. Lemeshev admired him greatly, and made it a point when he was a conservatory student to attend every performace by Sobinov that he possibly could. He carefully studied Sobinov's breathing and phrasing in particular. A great tenor, without doubt.
