"didnt like it at first, then... still didnt like it, then... so after all that, i'm starting to like it "= hipster forcing themselves to like something they don't like simply because it is deemed "advanced" to like it..... I liked it on the first listen, i am more advanced than all of you/ i liked it before it came out/ i liked it before they made it!. Seriously though, i do prefer their music when they play more "traditional" instruments as opposed to the "computer music".
Like all radiohead albums, I first listen, I say what the hell is this crap, then I listen again, I say this isn't so bad, I listen again and I say Holy shit that awesome, I love Radiohead!!!
I cant see how any Radiohead fan couldnt like this album. A real fan at least. RH has always changed their sound up, this is by far their most peaceful album. I love it because of that. People needa get the OK Computer nostalgia outta their head. They changed with Kid A lol. Love RH forever
Listened to the album three times, didn't like it at all.
Listened to this the first time, liked it better.
Listened to this three times, I now love it.
I think the biggest reason a lot of people can't feel TKOL is the production, it's ridiculous how better this session is, not to mention it has more tracks (Staircase really should have been in the album, it's awesome).
I think they should remaster TKOL with the additional tracks and release it with better production.
@LaughingUltros i wouldnt say better production because i think TKOL was just as well produced by Nigel as Kid A but i totally agree that daily mail and staircase shouldve been on the album
The first few times I heard this album, it was painful. Many months later, I listened again; still an earful. I went to the doctor, got some localized-human-growth-hormones injected into my ears. Now, they are big enough to fathom this music at its most basic level and realize it was me, not radiohead, at fault for not understanding. Long story short, all other music sounded bad w/ new ears, causing me to grow out my hair to dampen all the other crappy 'sounds' and hide my huge ears.
@ACR4V3N I saw a comment on another RH video that said "my ears and mind had to evolve in order to appreciate and enjoy The King of Limbs." I feel the exact same way; this band is one of best things that ever happened to music.
I have to go buy some things and I'm nearly out of time now. I'm saying "this is the last song" for every song in the video but as there is no pause between them the next one starts inmediately and I can't get out of here...
As an Album, I think this is better than In Rainbows, the songs combine more each other, its a CD to listen all the songs in sequence, not like In Rainbows that you will be splitting between Reckoner and All I Need (that are awesome tracks)...
@delfi9martu3 I think it's better to say that Deamer is just a session drummer who has worked with Portishead because he is not officially affiliated with that band. He has also worked with Jeff Beck. I think Portishead is technically just Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley, and Beth Gibbons. Not saying you're wrong; just saying....
didn't like this album much to begin with, but then i heard the remix album which was awesome and listening back to the original made me appreciate it. hoping for a UK tour, including some festivals from them becuase i'd love to see them more than once. my favourite songs from tkol are 'little by little' 'separator' and 'codex', but staircase is so good too, infact their all amazing!
I hear this while i'm studying, and i noticed that i was crying while hearing codex, i was dancing with the daily mail, and i'm playing the drums with separator. This guys make me so... weird, and that's what i love about them!
I have to admit, this is much better than the album version, but isn't it always live in the studio? Some argue the greatness of albums past Ok Computer, and Thoms readiness to veer off into long and obscure sounds, but I have to say, The King Of Limbs is by far one of their greatest albums, alongside In Rainbows, since The Bends. It incorporates that obscurity some fans find questionable, but they also manage to bring in a slight rock sound, which has lacked a bit with past albums.2 Thurms Up!
Dude, I couldn't take all of those commercials. I mean, they cut the songs off at the balls just when they were getting to the juice. DailyMotion sux. But, Thanks anyway. I appreciate your hard work.
I love how as far as radiohead is concerned, there is no real concensus on the best album. The only thing we can really agree on is they're all better than pablo honey.
Can you find anything here that even reminds you of the genius quality of the stuff they did in the past, from "karma police" to "pyramid song", from "iron lung" to "jigsaw" and so?
Nothing. This album cannot be digested in my stomach, even after the dozens times i played it.
Change & growth is inevitable in this world, it comes many ways, to expect or to stay the same will only cause you to run into wrong turns. Don't get me wrong if this album doesn't hit you the same then it's just simply your opinion of not liking it, there's nothing wrong with that. I Believe in keeping an open mind and that everything happens in cycles though I just aim for them to be cycles of succession otherwise I'm rehashing things that will send me nose diving from where I could be.
@0kcomputer To each his own I suppose, but I had to fight the urge to rip you a new one..
I absolutely love this album, and I'm sorry for those who don't. I admit that it's different, and it took me a while to get used to some of it. And as nostalgic as Ok Computer is for me, I have no problem admitting that it is nowhere near my top 5 radiohead albums. For me Kid A will always be there crowning achievement, but King of Limbs comes quite close.
As a radiohead fan of many years, like many others, I always find it interesting when people compare. We all have our favorites, but even they change depending on our mood. Critics have a tough job, if they are not first , they are not heard. King of limbs was not my favorite album ... But as usual, having seen this from the basement , i now
"get it"
If they had released this as an album , it would be my all time favorite.
There you have it , the king of limbs is rubbish.... Oh ... Hang on ...
@Mcshitlove If you compare King of Limbs to OK Computer you've completely missed the point. They are two different mind sets, almost different genres, and shouldn't be compared to one another.
@DontLookAtTheTurtle Mostly you're right, but of course people are going to compare King of Limbs and OK Computer, that's human nature. I'm struggling though...one of my favourite albums ever, which I've listened to so much I got bored of it years ago, or this, which I can't stop listening to.
@Mcshitlove opinion is something that sustantially dosent stand alone, its blow by the wind, it dosent compromise the teller with the concept, when what i said its infact a fact since my opinion like you said its a common thing amount other people in the world becoming a subject of interest a categorizing that albumn as one of the best, just like Kid A is better then ok computer since its has an award to back that up.
@evildude400 but just because an album has a award behind it doesnt mean its a better album its like saying creep is a better song than lotus flower so many people know the song creep and the amount of people that will sing along when it's played is hugh however if you played lotus flower alot of people wouldnt know what the song even is and you could argue with me but saying that the reasong for that is because lotus flower is new and crep isnt but you can say the same for creep and the bends.
The Daily Mail is AMAZING. Saw it on Colbert Report video. One of the things that's cool about being a Radiohead Nerd is that we know these incredible songs that are mysteriously left off the albums. Seriously, how many b-sides and unavailables can you count that are every bit as beautiful as what's on the albums? Well, only WE know about those. Cheers!
@Mrmtjones yeah my sister went through a Radiohead phase when Talk Show Host was on Romeo and Juliet
.....I also rember once getting slagged off because I only discovered creep with the 1993 re-release....you should check that song out. It's on Pablo Honey.
i dont get the opposition to hearing them talk. i mean god forbid you have to hear a bit of the work behind making the music you claim to enjoy so much.
@collinortank Personally, I'm glad the talking is cut out since I listen to this repeatedly, and I really don't need to "hear the work behind the music I claim to enjoy" every single time. Once was entertaining, but enough.
I was not a fan of TKOL until i listened to Live From the Basement: TKOL... I see it like this. The LP is just a basic map of these songs.. and when they play live they make the songs what they were intended for.. dope
@MrThechonz Could not agree more. I am so glad this was posted on YT, it gives me a whole new way to hear TKOL. Prior to listening to this, I was not a huge fan of Bloom but it's beyond amazing here
This live version of T.K.O.L is a revelation!! I find it amazing how this band manage to make a studio album better when played live. Bloom is fantastic and Give up the Ghost is stunning. Hopefully they will play more personal sets in 2012 and take the horn section with them. Awesome ;-)
It's really great that you've cleaned the pauses. Hey, bloom is over, oh fuck, it's the boring part when they say "that was pretty good guys" and they masturbate each other... Oh, wait, the daily mail?! Thanks bro. No masturbation.
@MiniDJBeirne don't listen to that guy, do you think radiohead cares for number of views? radiohead cares that people listen to the music ,dont delete the video
@JimB667 its feckin daft init!, the bbc wouldnt air it now they wont have it up on youtube, whats the point in that, I assume thats what happened anyhoo. I dont get it!!
People don't seem to read comments. Radiohead said their full performance video would be up for a limited time. You either enjoy this now or enjoy the commercials on Dailymotion
Thanks for link!! I've been too busy to watch it since Radiohead posted and just decided to wack in on and it was gone!! But means I can still watch it.... Repeatedly most likely!! Cheers!! =)
Thanks a lot for this dear MinidjBeirne. One of the comments says thanks for the mp3 download. Would you have a link for me please as I think those versions are much better than the originals. If you don't, no worries. Really appreciate you posted that one.
the editing on the video is shit, they play clips of people playing stuff, and its not on the audio. the bass line @12:08 of example. god damm you sir!
No, well, an actual and sincere thanks from me. I've been looking for it on the telly and on VOD and it's not popped up anywhere until now, so thank you so much! Great way to make it available to us non-web savvy folk who think Youtube is the centre of the universe :)
Don't know if I should vote up or down. Up because finally live version of new material. Down because it isn't on youtube directly. Reply and tell me what to do....

Thanks a lot for this dear MinidjBeirne. One of the comments says thanks for the mp3 download. Would you have a link for me please as I think those versions are much better than the originals. If you don't, no worries. Really appreciate you posted that one.

How did they not capture this live atmosphere on the studio album at all...
guptube 6 months ago
Don't delete it, you have cleaned the pauses between songs which is much better than listening to the sam echgatter over and over again.

No, well, an actual and sincere thanks from me. I've been looking for it on the telly and on VOD and it's not popped up anywhere until now, so thank you so much! Great way to make it available to us non-web savvy folk who think Youtube is the centre of the universe :)
thanks and love from Canada
