I know that this is not fait, and purely illegal, but in France, we can't find old live versions like this, and when I try to buy it on an english/american music website, they don't let me buy it.
I love his voice so much (but his hair cut sucks a little, I prefer him with short hair and his lovely moustache)
shit, this performance made me almost cry and NEVER cry...I am asking myself how can somebody sing so .... how can I can't find the word ....angelic maybe...
Definately one which is better than original. Anyway I'm so curious why didn't freddie use his falsetto for Bohemian Rhapsody even at this concert, his shape was no doubt great.
@HanKyeolYoon i think most of the reason was because from day 1 of live performances he never really used falsetto on that song and he just got used to singing it like that. Also another thing is probably nerves and he probably didnt want to try a new way of singing it in front of that many people.
@thebiggestqueenfan i no right? we need to all like protest or something by the people who make all the queen dvds. they keep released the same thing. just spent $50 to see the first night at wembley- and even though it was amazing and funny- same setlist, same outfit. they need to release stuff from the 70's. Hyde park, newcastle, hammersmith odeon- they're all legendary- why cant they put it on dvd??
Your right, his voice was good then, my bad I'm retarded. I'd say his worst ever was their SNL show. He was pissed at the end with how bad his voice was from the argument before it.
Alright guys. In my opinion Montreal was among his finest vocal performances, and the video/audio quality is unbelievable. I agree with both of you in some parts. He barked when he couldn't reach the normal studio notes, which were insanely difficult. Wembley was not a very good performance and his voice was in awful shape, much like Japan and Hammersmith 1979. Examples of the barking would be Wembleys I Want To Break Free. He would also belt some songs, which is more controlled and sustained t
hum, this mix is wonderful, i'm just a bit sad they put fucking autotune on freddie's voice, he doesn't need all his notes to be right on tune by a computer. His voice is deeper and richer than just be "on tune". Anyway, beautiful version.
@cpartilecoco They didn't put any autotune on his voice during this song. And plus, it makes it sound better when they do cuz it's hardly noticeable. And if they end up releasing this concert they really should fix his pitch because during most of the songs he was incredibly off because he couldn't hear himself.
@codebabe His pitch isn't off in this song but it is in almost every song...and it's VERY noticeable. They probably had problems with the monitors at that gig because he never ever sang like that.
@thebiggestqueenfan i think his pitch is pretty great live. maybe not during this era. as he hadn't developed as a live singer quite yet. but in the 80s his pitch was near flawless, with the exception of the gigs where its obvious his voice was shot from singing so much.
@thebiggestqueenfan in the 80s he was mostly flawless. I mean Montreal and Wembley have moments tat are unbeatable. Impromptu at Wembley is just insane.
@codebabe Yes but his voice was so much deeper and to get high notes he would have to yell and bark them out. His voice was much smoother and eloquent in the 70's pus powerful to.
@thebiggestqueenfan its apples and oranges, listen to his improvisation at wembley and live aid, the power and pitch he demonstrates there he never demonstrated in the 70s. I like the tone of his voice in the 70s more but I think technically what he did in the 80s is a bit more impressive in some ways. Going high in chest voice isn't cheating, it's pretty hard.
@bluephoenixone In parts he sounds tired(under pressure/dragon attack) but listen to Somebody to Love/Play the Game/Save Me, he just sounds astonishing. He held back a bit on hitting the impressive notes but his power and pitch were amazing there. Wembley was all around better though!
@codebabe How can you think he sounded better at Wembley? At Montreal he was in perfect studio-like voice and hit all the high notes in the songs. At Wembley he sounded tired and there's cracks and barking notes all over the place. Plus he sounds very deep.
@thebiggestqueenfan He didn't sing 'all' the high notes at montreal. Wembley, I mainly think of his insane improv and impromptu performances which were just insane. As for sounding deep, that doesn't bother me at all. There are som cracks and that gets a bit annoying.
@bluephoenixone I think it's exactly the opposite. Montreal he was in very good voice and his high register was there. At Wembley his nodes were acting up and he barked a lot of the notes. There's cracks and rough singing all over that gig not to mention that his voice was a lot deeper.
@thebiggestqueenfan You keep using the word bark like its bad. Its just different. the cracks aren't good no, but what you refer to is barking is really power, which is a great skill he possessed over many others.
@codebabe Barking is a form of crack. It's when he is so desperate to hit a high note that he is forced to yell it out in a husky deep voice (aka barking). Here's an example of it, go to around 1:46 in the video titled: 26. We Are The Champions (Queen-Live At Wembley Stadium Bootleg: 7/12/1986)
@resilvina This version is Special mainly cause is the only High quality record of his "Falsetto" rendition of the song. Anyway the single song is so deep as the voice
@resilvina This is a fantastic version. He aims to sing it close to album version, with falsettos in right place. Stunning. One of the most emotional renditions of any Queen song he ever did. The version of ITLOTG.... Revisited in this same concert is on par, some great note changes.
If the audio can be sent that would be great thanks as I can't wait for them coming through the post and want this on my ipod. Cheers for sharing friend.

i think the best performance

@indianabep i think he actually looks a lot better with the long hair.
You go google youtube to mp3 and use one of those websites to download the audio.

But I am really sorry to tell you that he is hot with the long hair, but he is "mister Farenheit" with the moustache ;)

@indianabep a legal and easy way to do that is to use mp3rocket, which the basic version is free. just look for it in google. hope this helped.

rden94 8 months ago
@rden94 I agree with you on everything but wait, you think he was in bad shape at Hammersmith '79? Are we talking about the same gig?
thebiggestqueenfan 7 months ago
He wasn't awful at Wembley--he sounded rough throughout, but he had some good performances (like Another One Bites The Dust).
Anything from the Works Tour (like the London gigs, Vienna, etc), is worse than Wembley!
Gregsynthbootlegs 7 months ago
Barking isn't cracking--barking is where you do these really harsh-sounding screams (usually to try to hit higher notes), and it sounds very harsh.
You want to hear barking at its finest? Look no further than Zurich 1986!
Gregsynthbootlegs 8 months ago
@Gregsynthbootlegs you're right. but the point that i was making is that it sounds bad nonetheless.
thebiggestqueenfan 8 months ago
My two cents
1. Freddie's live pitch got better as he got older.
2. Montreal has him in excellent shape--he's rough at Wembley
3. Freddie was a better live singer in the 80s overall (unless his voice was shot).
