To go further on that, in all my reading, I have failed to find an animal species that treats homosexual acts as taboo. Humans seem unique in that regard. This whole time I have been playing devil's advocate just to prove a point. Many issues are based solely on morals (gay marriage, incest, polygamy, etc.) not necessarily tied with religion (although religions may agree). Where do we draw the line? I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman simply because of my morals. Others say between two unrelated people. Others go farther. How do we determine the difference between immorality and inequality? That I think is the key question.

I completely agree. I am hesitant to allow gay marriage not because I hate gays etc (I have family members who are) but because I worry where it would lead. If there is a civil union with all the rights available to heterosexual couples then the government will not be controlling anyone's lives. The truth of the matter is that they should be able to marry. It'd be complicated to make it work, but other than that there's no reason to prohibit them.
The only real obstacle is drafting up laws and precedents for divorce and other things. How will filing jointly on taxes work? If they're divorced will they need to divorce everyone and remarry anyone who wants to stay? If assets are split, who gets what? Does it get split equal ways or does half go to the divorcee and the other half is split up between the remaining spouses?
As you can see, it would be a lot more involved than just allowing it as we do gay marriage.

Operant conditioning doesn't nec. need an antecedent, thus you're modifying the behavior as it happens. Hence the term operant (stemming from the word operation). Not entirely the same premise.

Typically a species with a small neocortex have different mechanisms. Sorry if I didn't elaborate.

This whole time I have been playing devil's advocate just to prove a point. Many issues are based solely on morals (gay marriage, incest, polygamy, etc.) not necessarily tied with religion (although religions may agree). Where do we draw the line? I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman simply because of my morals. Others say between two unrelated people. Others go farther. How do we determine the difference between immorality and inequality? That I think is the key question.

I completely agree. I am hesitant to allow gay marriage not because I hate gays etc (I have family members who are) but because I worry where it would lead. Also, how can you justify gay marriage and not polygamy? It really is an issue of people's morals. I also wonder if homosexuality is a type of mental or genetic disorder. If there is a civil union with all the rights available to heterosexual couples then the government will not be controlling anyone's lives. Why does the union of two homosexuals have to be called the same thing as a union between heterosexuals? Why can't you have a civil union specifically for gay couples that isn't marriage? The only real obstacle is drafting up laws and precedents for divorce and other things. How will filing jointly on taxes work? If they're divorced will they need to divorce everyone and remarry anyone who wants to stay? If assets are split, who gets what? Does it get split equal ways or does half go to the divorcee and the other half is split up between the remaining spouses?
As you can see, it would be a lot more involved than just allowing it as we do gay marriage.

We prefer to see men marry women, we don't want to foot the bill for people who use abortion as a method of birth control and we still believe there is a place for saying the "Pledge Of Allegiance" and a prayer at school. Though there is currently a Congressional ban on the funding of abortions there are many people working very hard to get it repealed which I would say is a very good possibility given the current demographic of todays go. I live in New York which is one of 17 states that DOES offer assistance in such cases. The pandering to groups like homosexuals and muslims is also disgraceful.
