I guess that's the advantage of living on a cold country. roaches can't breed outside your tanks, here at a tropical country when they are out you are deadmeat.. you'll be hunting for them to stop them multiple. :))

That's actually a pretty clever set up for roaches. I prefer a 10 gallon for my hissers with a red lamp for viewing.

I know this is an old vid, but I also know you read your comments :3 I have been more and more interested in roaches since the last batch of crickets I got ended up spreading mites to one of my enclosures (and then contaminating a second) and I have gone through a billion hoops to get them clean, and isolate everything.

Anyways! Are there other species that do well in cooler temperatures (68-78) that are also unable to fly and climb glass? Basically a feeder for cooler environments :3

@tarantulaguy1976 hey um yea right now i only have like 20 isopods but ina month or 2 or shorter i should have close to like 100 or more because they are breeding......... and if you need any isopods b4 i can sell 2 u or anyone take a potato and remove all the insides out.... then tape it together once u've stuffed dead. moist leaves into the halves.. then place it by or in a moist area outside. perferable by rocks and other hide areas. then wait in the morning u should have like 50 isopods

If a couple of dubias escape, will they start breeding around the house? I've had that problem for years with crickets and I want to switch but no normal parent would let their child do that. xD It's impossible to convince them.

B. Dubia roaches are hands down the best feeder insect there is and here is why:

1. They can't climb.

2. They can't fly.

3. They do not have an odor.

4. They reproduce fast (female's have over 40 live babies a month).

5. There life span is up to 2 years.

6. They are great for gut-loading, they hold there stomach contents for 48-72 hours.

8. Having a B. dubia colony will ensure you have large to tiny feeders to feed at all times.

9. Hardly any maintance.

Getting a B. dubia colony will ensure you do not spend another penny on feeders again. My colony of 300 turned into a colony of 7,000+ with-in a year!

awesome idea! i'd use roaches to feed my T's but the ones i have are a little too small to deal with the harder Roach bodies. am i right? Roaches are probably a lot easier to keep alive than crickets tho! lol. i've been wanting a T. Blondi for a while and a few other larger species. how big do Ts (or their fangs) generally have to be so they can handle the harder shell of the roaches and not damage themselves?

ok, i changed my set up a little bit, i still have 1 or 2 small spots that reach the 100+ range. my temps just under the surface of the egg crates, about an inch or so, are holding around the 95 mark and near the floor of the colony is 75

Hinging the egg cartons would just make it harder to clean.. There's still feces on the insides.. I'd use a glue gun and with a few dabs adhere the cartons together.. Also crushing up the dog/cat food's a great idea. As long as you're taking proper care of your enclosure and are keeping the temps and RH steady it won't mold over
