I guess that's the advantage of living on a cold country. roaches can't breed outside your tanks, here at a tropical country when they are out you are deadmeat.. you'll be hunting for them to stop them multiple. :))
Lol at first I thought this was wwwaaayyyy weird until I kept reading the comments. I'm itching all over now thinking roaches are on me! Lol! Tarantulas rock tho so I'm glad they are not pets like I first thought :) amazing how roaches are. Thanks for the vid :)
@tarantulaguy1976 IN FLORIDA THEY SURE WILL IF YOU GET THEM LOSE IN THE HOUSE. FROM TIME TO TIME I SEE THAT SAME KIND ROACH WALK CROSS MY ROOM , THEY FLY IN FROM THE PALM TREES, BUT NOW AFTER I SEE THIS VIDEO I WANT TO CASH IN ON THE LIL BUGS THAT ARE EVERY WEAR IN ORLANDO. BUT THAT LOOK LIKE SOME DIFFERENT BREAD . I MIGHT GET A LIL SET UP OUT SIDE AND TRY TO BREAD THEM
@tarantulaguy1976 IT MIGHT BE THIK THEY CALL THEM PALMEDOW BUG CAUSE THEY ARE IN THE TREE AND THEY FLY, BUT NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT A NIFF IS THINK THAT I SEE THEM SOME TIMIES I THOUGHT THEY WERE JUST A NEW BREAD, BUD DUBIA MUST BE SOME HIGH BREAD ROACH
I know this is an old vid, but I also know you read your comments :3 I have been more and more interested in roaches since the last batch of crickets I got ended up spreading mites to one of my enclosures (and then contaminating a second) and I have gone through a billion hoops to get them clean, and isolate everything.
Anyways! Are there other species that do well in cooler temperatures (68-78) that are also unable to fly and climb glass? Basically a feeder for cooler environments :3
Hi Rob took you advice on setting up got all sizes the adults are breeding having young. a quick question how long will ot take befor I can start feeding from them approx?? Thanks Stuart oh by the way my wife loves them oh yea she picks them up an lets them crawl on her. roaches mealworm superworms crickets Locust she dont mind .......Maybe I should have a closer look at my plate at Diner Time HU
Hey Rob, I went to your site to look at your prices on the roaches you had for sale and couldn't find them. Basically I'm looking to start my own colony. I have two tanks started with 6 each. (3m, 3f) however this has been like this for 6 months and i don't really have any nymphs. how would you suggest i start my colony better. or can you give me a price for a starter colony. (saraebowen@yahoo.com) Thanks love your videos, you are hilarious.
@draco12080 I am actually not selling roaches at the moment, but will be very soon!! I would get 50 females, 25 males amd mixed nymphs and do not feed your fgemale and feed them oranges!!
you say dont crush ur cat food up yet every other video iv seen says do crush it ? why not crush it up ? just asking have only just started my colony and want to do everything right lol
do you owna website or how would one go about buying one of these T's you have some wonderful specimens and if you could include some care sheets i would be much apriciated i am a newer T owner so i was thinking a Pink toe or something any suggestions? if you could id apriciate a replay if you have the time thank you
Why do you raise them is it just as pets, and how was it like when dating how did you introduce the roaches to your girlfriend. and if they got lost what are you going to do would you mind killing them
What if a pregnant female got away? The young would just die would they? They`re so fast I bet they just burst out of the tub when you open it! lol ;)
The babies eat the waste of the adults do they? Didn`t know that! lol Well that does sound like a good way of doing things, I think I`ll give that a try. Are they easy enough to breed? Also, in one of your vids, we see a roach escape behind you!! lol Won`t they infest the house? That`s a little worrying, I`m in a cold country (UK) does that mean they`ll just die? The thing is, they`re famous for being survivers aren`t they..... Cheers for your help :)
Yeah man I have 3 catons in my BRAND new colony (12 females 13 unsexed or nymphs 1 male im also getting more) I have 2 card board and 1 styraphome one and i noticed they wouldn't tuch it lol too bad I didn't see this sooner :(... Do you know why there like this?
@tarantulaguy1976 Ohhhh...Mine didn't even try to get it on there I'm gonna get some other stuff hey on your forums go to the chat room i would ove to have a good little talk :D
@tarantulaguy1976 hey um yea right now i only have like 20 isopods but ina month or 2 or shorter i should have close to like 100 or more because they are breeding......... and if you need any isopods b4 i can sell 2 u or anyone take a potato and remove all the insides out.... then tape it together once u've stuffed dead. moist leaves into the halves.. then place it by or in a moist area outside. perferable by rocks and other hide areas. then wait in the morning u should have like 50 isopods
I've just got my first batch of dubia babies today and I'm 11 years old...my parents aren't that normal I guess =P hahah....but as long as they are my pets, nobody will touch them cause all my pets are weird xD
If a couple of dubias escape, will they start breeding around the house? I've had that problem for years with crickets and I want to switch but no normal parent would let their child do that. xD It's impossible to convince them.
awesome idea! i'd use roaches to feed my T's but the ones i have are a little too small to deal with the harder Roach bodies. am i right? Roaches are probably a lot easier to keep alive than crickets tho! lol. i've been wanting a T. Blondi for a while and a few other larger species. how big do Ts (or their fangs) generally have to be so they can handle the harder shell of the roaches and not damage themselves?
Do you ever have them escape and create a roach infestation? =O Also, is it smelly cus of all the roaches and the tarantulas you keep in that room? Fascinating stuff I'm learning here... like another person said, you have quite the supportive wife =)
@sugasugaki This is why dubia are so good, they do not have a odor, they can't climb or fly. The will not reproduce if they escape...has to be a lot of them and very warm.
@sugasugaki People ask me that same question about my hissers... they are used to different climates so they wouldnt be able to survive in a house.
@user/tarantulaguy1976 Nice vid! Do you think a setup like this would be practical for a colony of hissers? Its a really smart idea! I'm definitely going to construct one of these for my new B. Dubia colony! Never thought of using masking tape to prevent escapees xD
That looks great man! I got some bearded dragons not to long ago, and they are eating machines, and any local pet store will just rape you on any feeder insects so this looks like the way to go, not to mention that vs crickets they don't stink and a far more nutritional. 1 second ago
your a fucking legend!!!!! i got so fucked off with my colony because they shit in the water geland food.... plexiglass is shit expensive in the uk is theyre any substitute materials i could use?
@PurebredLondon From what I've read they don't need it, it just makes the tank harder to clean and the babies harder to find and pick up. As long as they have something to hide in they are happy.
@collegemanhicks Not a collection, it is to feed my Tarantulas, don't like it....then don't come on my channel...actually, I will help you...you are BANNED Moron!
How long does it take to go from baby to adult? Do you heat them? I read 95 degrees perfect breeding temp. And do you feed the bearded dragons or other herps the adults or the nymphs?
@92culin Google gregs reptiles and inverts. He sells them. His youtube account is Moose9900 He has good prices, and good supplies for sale. Also some Ts.
@devastateurface lol if only i could find a girl like that everyone of them has ran out of my house screaming :( there all arachnid and isectia haters
wow man i CAN'T belive you'd touch one of those cochroaches i would NEVER touch one because i woke up 2 weeks ago and three cochroaches were on my face!!!!!!! it sucked
You should probably should check behind the refrigerator, in the closets... every dark space, because they might come from a colony in your house and if they do, that colony must be pretty big already.
ok, i changed my set up a little bit, i still have 1 or 2 small spots that reach the 100+ range. my temps just under the surface of the egg crates, about an inch or so, are holding around the 95 mark and near the floor of the colony is 75
Hinging the egg cartons would just make it harder to clean.. There's still feces on the insides.. I'd use a glue gun and with a few dabs adhere the cartons together.. Also crushing up the dog/cat food's a great idea. As long as you're taking proper care of your enclosure and are keeping the temps and RH steady it won't mold over
Why would you bother hinging egg cartons? Can you clean them safely when the roaches poop? Just curious because I end up tossing cartons a lot because my crickets poop on them.
I called walmart they said when they get eggs they come in cartons and when people buy the eggs they take the cartons with them. Which I mean makes perfect sense how did you get yours? Do you know any where elts I can call?
it depends where you live, farm country the eggs would come in flats. but most places they just come in cartons. two good places that sell them are eggboxes(.)com and eggcartons(.)com
This is good idea. I have 70-75 degress in summer and 65-70 in winter in my room. I muss do somethink to intercase temperature. How long you wait for little dubias?? 1 month?? My dubias have 80 degress and i wait 1 month and i dont have anyone little dubia...
is that a 22g storage tote?

spidamidget 1 year ago
@spidamidget Nope, they need to be with the colony, tell them this:
B. Dubia roaches are hands down the best feeder insect there is and here is why:
1. They can't climb.
2. They can't fly.
3. They do not have an odor.
4. They reproduce fast (female's have over 40 live babies a month).
5. There life span is up to 2 years.
6. They are great for gut-loading, they hold there stomach contents for 48-72 hours.
tarantulaguy1976 1 year ago
@spidamidget 7. They do not carry parasites.
8. Having a B. dubia colony will ensure you have large to tiny feeders to feed at all times.
9. Hardly any maintance.
Getting a B. dubia colony will ensure you do not spend another penny on feeders again. My colony of 300 turned into a colony of 7,000+ with-in a year!

How long does it take to go from baby to adult? Do you heat them? I read 95 degrees perfect breeding temp. And do you feed the bearded dragons or other herps the adults or the nymphs?
Ziegbod 2 years ago
I have mine at 85 degrees, the secret toi breeding them is in the food, citrus will make them go crazy!! I feed them to my beardie & Gecko!
tarantulaguy1976 2 years ago
citrus is their aphrodisiac? lol
hypnotic26 1 year ago

GamerFiberWire 1 year ago
@Ziegbod they take between 3-5 months, depending on your temps, food, etc.

You should probably should check behind the refrigerator, in the closets... every dark space, because they might come from a colony in your house and if they do, that colony must be pretty big already.
dadumbazz 2 years ago
ok, i changed my set up a little bit, i still have 1 or 2 small spots that reach the 100+ range. my temps just under the surface of the egg crates, about an inch or so, are holding around the 95 mark and near the floor of the colony is 75

hey where can i find that Travis K guy ??? link email ?
ROBDOMINICANKING 2 years ago 2
Hinging the egg cartons would just make it harder to clean.. There's still feces on the insides.. I'd use a glue gun and with a few dabs adhere the cartons together.. Also crushing up the dog/cat food's a great idea. As long as you're taking proper care of your enclosure and are keeping the temps and RH steady it won't mold over

im just saying when you poured them in there i was laughing to!!!

anybody want to buy dubia roaches? 10 female adults plus 5 adult males... ONLY 8 bucks! plus you get a generous amount of babies! atleast 50!
Care4URchameleon 2 years ago
Why would you bother hinging egg cartons? Can you clean them safely when the roaches poop? Just curious because I end up tossing cartons a lot because my crickets poop on them.
KawaiiKemonomimi 2 years ago
I called walmart they said when they get eggs they come in cartons and when people buy the eggs they take the cartons with them. Which I mean makes perfect sense how did you get yours? Do you know any where elts I can call?
lastdisciple90 2 years ago
I'm not sure who else might have them...I got mine at my local walmart but then I live in farm country so maybe that's the difference...
tarantulaguy1976 2 years ago
it depends where you live, farm country the eggs would come in flats. but most places they just come in cartons. two good places that sell them are eggboxes(.)com and eggcartons(.)com

You have had over 1000 in that one container, then?
I'd like to use two, and maybe make a setup like yours when I get a chameleon and bearded dragon... I think they can eat cockroaches.
NManRecorder 2 years ago
bearded dragons eat everything thats crawls and fit in there mouth :) even moths
