me and my cousing saw a huge bass about 20 inches right on mantoish waters and it golped down two 2 inch rock bass we tried to catch it on biggest bass ive ever seen huge
I don't get it. Largemouth Bass are not exactly hard to catch,, don't fight much and they taste like crap. Why bother? No offence to those of you that seem to treat these fish as some kind of religion,, I just don't see the appeal.
Go to the other side by the handicap pier when the water is flowin. Yuns catch bigger fish stacked like cord wood. Got that nice boat now get away from the parking area.
And leave it to shore fisherman who taint fraid no gator .
@smoothcriminal997 You can find the big shiners in ponds or lakes around grass or weeds in the water. You can catch shiners two ways... Take a can of cat food and poke holes in the top of the can and place it in the shallow water. Throw pieces of bread around the bait area. This will also help bring the shiners to your location. Next once you see the fish come to the surface throw a cast net on top of the bread and cat food can or use a very small hook with a small piece of bread ball.
@smoothcriminal997 I recommend hooking the shiners in the mouth with the mouth closed. Use a 2/0 circle hook for 7 inch or bigger shiners. The fish will stay alive a long time. The key is to gently cast them in the water.
@MegaHowtoMan I use a cast net and bread to catch the shiners. You can find these bait fish around grass or weeds in creeks, lakes, and ponds. Thanks for the post.
I just caught a bucketmouth the other day, biggest bass I ever caught. I have alot of respect for these lunkers, they're just crazy looking in the water when you're fighting them and you would never think that a fish can wear a man down, but they can.
Beautiful pond, reminds me of one I used to fish on. My largemouth record is a 9 pounder out on a golf course :P. For river fishing my biggest is probably 3 pounds.
Very nice bass. MN largemouth are pale in comparison to the ones you guys have down in Florida. We tend to fish with live creek chubs and suckers, which produce fairly well. Nice video!
Im gonna start trying live bait makes sense knowing a difference it makes on the coast with reds and trout. Free line small perch, shad, probably tear em up .
good choice on the live bait, i love using the minnows, my bro caught one about that size 2 weeks ago up here in new jersey.. we were surprised he even bit cuz the weather was mighty cold lol.
anyways, what did u use, a bobber right? what size line and hook, and where did u hook the shiner on, and did u use a treble hook?
i know i ask alot of questions but im tryin 2 get good myself.... Thank you =]
hey thx i just cought a 4 pound a 2 pound and a 1 pound bass yesterday and my dad cought a 3 pound chain pike and a HUGE 6 pound bass on large shinners but my dad cought the 6 pounder in open water with no cover we fish off the shore so idk if that changes any thing? but thx i wonder if were we live changes that because i live in MA.
Sounds like I need to make a trip to MA. 6 pound bass is huge. I have a caught few bass in open water, I guess you just never know where these fish may be located. Thanks for the post!
I recommend using live bait (worms, crickets, or minnows). Always fish around cover like trees, rocks, and docks from shore. This will increase your fish catches. Use a small hook and cork this way you can catch anything that bites. If needed you can always catch your on bait. Any insect will work; I caught a 17.5" crappie when I was 11 on a small black beetle that I found under an old log. I wish you luck!
Good job. A good video. I have been guiding on the marsh for years and you are showing the people that the quality bass are still there and biting. Call when you are here again and I will take you out. Roger
I brought some wild shiners and fished them and it was an awesome experince!! I caught a 5 lbs who struck soon as the bait entered the water lost two others text messenging. It was a blast!
A shake ever time a bass hits my shiner because you never know if it's a 10lbs or 3lbs. Most of the time it's a huge bass. Check out my new video "Catching Big Bass On Wild Shiners II". Thanks for the response and keep those shiners in the water!!!

Crazyfin, you are a braver man than I with those "agitators" hanging around! I've caught several of those big-headed, ultra-skinny bass before, too; a conservation guy told me they were just real, real old fish and were near to dying. Kinda sad in a way. Nice vid. Winkiedoodles
Im sorry to say but that 23 incher? Yea... No, maybe that long, but much heavier, baitfish add 1-2 pounds. My friend thats a 6.8 lb fish i assume
